Chapter 4: Going Out With a Bang
A/N: FYI, Ink is not his real name. If you read the comments and replies from my previous chapters, you would know that Ink is a code name that he will be given in the future. His real name will be kept secret for now, hence the reason of me never using it :)
=====~~~~~=====
He never liked fights. It wasn't that he was a coward or that he was weak, he just thought them to be a waste of time. There aren't much conflicts that get resolved by throwing punches at each other unless it's an argument about who would last longer in a fist fight.
That being said, it wasn't like he couldn't hold his own in one.
An example of that was today at school.
He had been quietly reviewing his textbook alone, listening to a Lo-fi playlist he had saved on Spotify during a school break. He just picked a shaded spot under a tree, and began his work. The way his school scheduled lectures was strange, sometimes giving them three lectures back-to-back or letting them have a four hour break to do whatever they pleased as long as they stayed on campus. It wasn't too hard to do that either as his school offered many choices of entertainment. Some would go to the school cafeteria, a few others would hit the gym, others still would read at the library, and some like Ink just reviewed for the next class.
Right now, he was in the middle of a four hour break. Study for an hour, break for thirty minutes, then get right back into it. As much as he'd like to go eat or read, maintaining his grades was more important.
No one quite understood how he revised. He had developed his own set of strange symbols and shortcuts to make revising easier and quicker. The only things he had of color were the different pens he often used to point out specific things. Orange for important places, yellow for important dates, etc. It didn't matter that no one could figure it out; he could, and that's all that mattered.
He had been writing down a few important points in the margin of his notes when he felt someone push him. He looked behind him to see who it was-oh. It was him.
Hate. The biggest bully of them all.
Hate truly lived up to his namesake, him hating everyone and everyone hating him. He would probably be the only person that he and his other bullies could agree over: Hate was stupid and mean, and that's that. Always picking on the little kids at the playground, stealing other kid's phones when he got a bit older...He wouldn't be surprised if that kid was part of some gang, smoking crack and robbing unsuspecting passerby of their wallets...
He decided to look back on his studies, trying to ignore Hate, when he was picked up by the collar and thrown roughly onto the ground. Okay, now he was pissed.
Hate tried to kick him while he was still on the ground, but he rolled over and dodged, getting up in the process. Hate threw a punch, but Ink grabbed his arm and shoved him away.
He had to admit, the thrill of fighting felt wonderful in his bones. His blood pounded and rushed through his bones. The adrenaline made him feel lighter yet stronger, giving him clear focus on his foe. He loved it when someone was trying to break his arm, and he loved it even more when he threw them over and cracked their rib. He didn't care if he got hurt; sometimes, he even liked getting hurt, as long as in the end, he would emerge victorious.
A few minutes of punching, kicking, and dodging later, the normally reserved student had his foot on Hate's chest, keeping him pinned down to the ground. He seemed completely unaware of the fact he was bleeding heavily out of his mouth.
"Hehe..." He snickered. Oh, how the mighty fall. As mighty as Hate could get anyways. "What are you gonna do now, huh? I doubt you can still win with how this situation seems to be playing out."
Hate growled. He shoved his leg away and stumbled off, muttering curses under his breath.
Both students were completely unaware of the fact they were being watched through a small drone perched right on top of the tree he was sitting under. "This one's got bite, don't you think brother?" Nightmare watched as wiped off the blood on his face with his hand. "He is. It's exactly why I picked him. Besides, he's got other tricks up his sleeve aside from fighting." Dream looked at his brother. "Yes, yes. You've told me how he drains others of their life. I want to see it for myself, though." Nightmare began to lead the drone back to the alleyway they were staying in. He would've called it home had it not been for the fact that he had to change their location every few months. "Oh don't worry, you'll see it in time."
The soulless student didn't even continue his classes. Instead, he went straight home, knowing his parents were still at work.
He packed his clothes, some of his textbooks, and some hygiene necessities into his backpack. He had enough. Today was his last day of school, anyways. He left no note of his whereabouts. He simply walked out the door and left.
He walked towards the alleyway. He hesitated, but that hesitation was cleared the moment it came. He already accepted the offer, might as well leave his parents already.
He knocked on the door. After a minute, he was let in to the room. "I had to make sure it was you, you know. Everything you got in that bag of yours?" Dream asked. He nodded. Dream lead him down the hallway, stopping at the very last room. "You'll be staying here now. Get comfortable, kid."
Ink smiled slightly as he looked around the room. It was barren and clean, just the way he liked it.
He knew he was going to have one hell of a time here.
