Chapter 2: A Perfect Opportunity

Nightmare smirked down on him.

For the first time in his life, he was terrified.

Nightmare was the head of the biggest mafia chain in the country. He had hundreds of assassins at his disposal, all ready to kill at the mention of an enemy. He was roughly 6'2, and covered in an unknown substance that burned anyone who wasn't part of his gang. He only had one, piercing, cyan eye and four tentacles.

He was basically the living, breathing, walking definition of fear. Wonderful.

"Well?"

What the hell was he supposed to say?!

"W-what do you want from me?!"

Nightmare chuckled. Even his laugh was hauntingly dark, echoing across the dark and cold room. He released the student from his grip.

"I want to make a deal with you."

He turned around.

"You give me your service. Someone who can take out and drain someone of their soul like that is something I have never seen before. I know that this is your last week of school. Next year, you don't enroll. You join us completely. In return, you never have to worry for food or if you have a roof over your head. You have people here who sympathize with you. And with us, you have much more freedom than you ever would. Is it a deal?" He extended hs hand.

He would have to think long and hard for this.

He never really cared about school. He did well, yes, but never had much interest in it. Besides, the world of crime had always taken his eyes. It fascinated him, the way people killed, how they got away with it...and his parents.

He hated them.

Always talking about him as if he couldn't care. Hitting him as if he couldn't care. Shouting at him as if he couldn't care.

He could care. His care was just not as strong as it should've been.

He could get away from everything. And who knows, maybe he'll find some real friends here.

So he shook his hand, and the deal was sealed.

"Perfect~ Now off you go, you still have a few days left."

And he shoved him out the door.

=====~~~~~=====

He stumbled into his home. His parents didn't even notice him stumbling up the stairs to his room. He threw his bag down on the floor and lied down on his bed to think.

Was this the right decision? He-he hated his life. As much as he could hate anything, at least. He hated the expectations put on him, he hated school, he hated his parents, he-he had nothing to hold onto. He had nothing that would give him any hesitance at all to change his mind. He changed into long sleeved pajamas and went to bed, though he got very little sleep, tossing and turning as his mind thought about the future waiting for him.
