Roundup: August 2022
Current status and updates for all my active projects, both on and offline. For quick synopses of each of these books, check out my Wattpad info doc: it's linked in my profile bio and in the intro chapter of this book.
As the Crow Falls: Nothing to report
Song of the Deep: Slightly hysterical laughter. Um. This book's going to be about 40k longer than I thought it would? I totally thought I'd written the end of Act 2 already, but then kept writing, and suddenly reached the end of Act 2 about 20k later. So it'll be a total of 200k now. Pantsing problems. I also need to really gear up on rebuilding its buffer, so this book has shifted back into the driver's seat after a July that was not as productive as I was hoping.
Red Rover: Not quite done (15k left), but yolo, it's posting now! Which means I'm now up to three weekly-posting novels, my profile is madness, someone save me from myself 😂😭💀
Can You Cook a Dragon (Flash Fiction Collection): Pretends not to see
Rocks Can Dance: On pause again for now to give precedence to other books. Which applies to all books in this category, actually. I need to get Red Rover and Song of the Deep in order before I can turn my attention elsewhere again: both have preexisting posting obligations, and are upholding certain posting requirements for my profile as a whole. As a result, this month may well be dedicated to RR and SotD and those two alone, with anything else visited as a reward or brain-break. Such is the life of a multi-drafter!
Super Secret Mystery Project™ That Will Remain A Mystery Until Launch: See above.
The Wall of Imanti: See above.
Hattu Empire Series (aka Desert Epic): I GOT A NEW NOTEBOOK AND IT'S A VERY PRETTY NOTEBOOK AND I GAVE IT TO THIS SERIES AND HAVE NO REGRETS!!! This is part of the reason I ended up having to reduce my July goal. I got a nice planning notebook and got sidelined into worldbuilding and plotting for five straight days as a result, whoops 😂
Yes, I reduced my July Camp NaNo goal. It started with a week of camping wherein I wasn't able to find an unused electrical campsite to charge my laptop and write. Which still made for a lovely and restful trip, but not a very productive one! Then I visited a writer-friend who I'd never met in person before, and got a new notebook, and, well. See above. Between those things and a hit of brain-fog, I lost too many writing days out of the month to meet a 100k goal, and dropped it as a result. I finished the month with 60k. Not the worst that can happen, just not what I had hoped for, either.
All those things mean I'll probably be in profile-maintenance mode for the month of August, working on books that must be worked on, and giving the rest a break. And then I will be back in school, albeit part-time, so... who knows what that will look like. Either way, it doesn't really matter to any reader of mine, because I'm now updating three books weekly, so on the surface, everything's fine and just as crazy as usual ✨
The natural state of my lap while attempting to write. They are both hand-lickers...
