- Why is this an issue?

Gender stereotypes are enforced upon us. From as soon as we start socializing, we are constantly taught the differences between 'girls' and 'boys', from the way we dress to the way we communicate. However, gender is not as definite as this, as an increase in non-binary orientations has shown, the most common of which being transgender individuals. There is a clear issue with acceptance here, with transphobia being equally as common. Furthermore, other genderqueer orientations are virtually unheard of, such as genderfluidity and agenderism. Additionally, whilst some of us believe that our gender identity is so important to us that we'd change our biological anatomy via surgery, some of us also see gender as a social construction, used to label and help categorize people. These views are not particularly recognised or not seen as valid.

- What are we hoping to achieve?

We would like to increase awareness of all types of gender orientations, both binary and non-binary. We would also like to fight phobia and discrimination towards genderqueer people and also inform people of the variety of pronouns that can be used and how they should be respected.

- How can this be done?

Awareness and acceptance can only be increased if people are willing to understand new and unfamiliar concepts. Project Awesomesauce aims to help people do that, so with your continous support and following, we can enlighten people and make the world a better place.
