Night 5
Strings woke up with a groan...but not out of annoyance. It's mainly because he felt dizzy. What happened yesterday?
He turned his head...and then his glowing white eye widened.
Popgoes was right beside him, cheerful green eyes and the best smile a robot could manage. "Hi, buddy!"
"...AHHHHHH!!!! AHHHH!!!!" Strings shrieked at the top of his lungs that didn't exist and suddenly fell off his chair. But he didn't have time to process that he could move now. He just continued to scream. "AHHHHHHHHH!!!"
"Whoa, whoa, whoa!" Popgoes exclaimed, raising his robotic hands into the air. "We're not here to hurt you!!!"
"We don't wanna scare you!!!" Sara added, appearing behind Strings.
Strings quickly dashed under the table, hiding. But then, it hit him. "Wait...I CAN MOVE!" He jumped, accidentally throwing the table into the air and onto the floor. "Oh...uhh, whoops."
Saffron laughed. "You're a robot like us! It's bound to happen!"
Strings laughed. "That makes sense- WAIT, YOU'RE TRYING TO KILL ME!!! WHY ARE YOU TALKING TO ME NOW!?!? AND HOW CAN I MOVE!?"
"Because we took out your Curiosity chip!" Popgoes explained. "We're super duper sorry! We didn't mean to do anything to scare you! But frankly, you kept ignoring us!"
"Popgoes, that was the chip doing that!" Sara said.
"Right, right, right." Popgoes said, sighing.
"Chip...? What chip?" Strings asked, tilting his head.
Then? Blake walked out of the server room. "This chip!"
"AH-" Strings then covered his non existent mouth. "Sorry. Old habit...wait...I don't even feel that much panic as I used too! How did...? Okay! Someone explain! And can I sit down...? I've been having to take so many things so fast all week." Strings said.
Saffron walked over and pulled up a chair, helping Strings sit down.
"Thanks, Saffron." Strings said, using one of his four limbs to give her a thumbs up.
Saffron put a peace symbol up while making a cute face. "No problem!"
Blake smiled before facing Strings. "Anyway! Time to explain! What are your questions?"
"How am I able to move? How are you guys able to talk? And what do you mean ignoring you?"
"Well! All of those questions have one answer. The chip that was inside your head." Blake said, showing him the chip that had the words 'curiosity' written on a piece of tape attached to it. "I've been studying this thing all night! I'm sort of a genius! I learned this basically gives you a very advanced A.I, and we kinda...took it out. So, in a way, we took out your literal curiosity."
"That...doesn't answer how I can move." Strings said. "And why am I still curious now?"
"The chip left behind a few side effects, and plus your overall A.I. still lets you feel emotions." Blake explained. "As for the moving thing? Apparently, the chip also had...negative side effects when it was still inside your head. For example? You wouldn't be able to move until 6 AM...but you would also shut down at 6 AM too."
"So, how are you guys able to talk? How was I ignoring you?" Strings asked.
"We could always talk!" Popgoes said. "It's how Father designed us!"
"But the Curiosity chip's other side effect is that it wouldn't let you hear us. I think it's programmed in there maybe? To keep you from getting distracted!" Blake hypothesized. "But without it? You can actually hear us without any problems or failure!"
"How'd I shut down yesterday? Sorry if that's too many questions. It's just so nice to have answers." Strings said.
Blake smiled. "No worries, buddy! As for that, the chip makes you see things that might not really be there or how it actually is happening. Not to mention? You also have to remain calm. Your original programming inside this very chip gave you a 'Panic' function. If you felt too much panic and fear? You'd shut down."
"Ohhh!" Strings then laughed. "It basically gave me hallucinations!"
"Exactly!" Sara smiled. "You were panicking over, well, little stuff!"
"Yeah! I saw you and Saffron in the vents! Blake right next to me! And Popgoes trying to build some kind of weird black thing!"
The animatronics blinked before laughing nervously. "Uhhh...no. No. Those actually happened."
Strings blinked. "Oh...okay...WHY?!"
"We were worried!" Saffron said. "You were getting scared and shouting for no reason! And you screamed and talked to us, and when we said something back? You acted like you couldn't hear us! Which you couldn't."
Popgoes nodded. "Sara and Saffron attempted to climb into the vents to steal that phone thing. At first? We thought it was broken and causing you to glitch!"
"We tried to be sneaky though." Sara giggled. "Guess it didn't work! You're a good security guard!"
Strings smiled and rubbed the back of his head. "Awww, shucks! Thanks!"
"As for me? I really was standing next to you! The Badger Button calls me over! I was playing Simon Says with you, like I did with Austin! I wanted to calm you down, y'know?"
"Austin- Oh! That's the kid you were with in Dad's story!" Strings realized.
"Yup!" Blake smiled.
"So, lemme guess! Popgoes was trying to build a toy to calm me down?" Strings asked.
Sara, Saffron, and Blake all looked at Popgoes, and then Popgoes shook his head. "Not...really. I've been doing this ever since Father gave me an upgrade two weeks ago. He wants me to...Save Bonnie?"
"Save...Bonnie?" Strings asked, tilting his head.
Popgoes shrugged. "I think he means Toy Bonnie! He was an animatronic at Freddy Fazbear's Pizza!"
"Huh...weird...can you stop yourself?" Strings asked.
"Not...exactly. We had to seal off the rooms with 3D Printers so I wouldn't go in them! At least, for tonight!" Popgoes said.
"Do you know why Father wants you to rebuild Toy Bonnie?" Strings asked.
"No sweet clue." Popgoes said.
"Any more questions?" Blake asked.
"That's about all I can recall. Thanks, guys!" Strings smiled. "I feel...A LOT better."
"Don't mention it!" Sara smiled. "So! Can we listen to that phone call from Dad together now?"
"Uhhh, sure! It's pretty clear I don't need to worry about you!" Strings said as he walked over to the table, clearly stumbling and tripping, but he did grab his phone and played the message, with the others all huddling in.
"Hey! Kid! I'm really proud of you. Assuming you've made it this far, well, I'm thinking of giving you that bonus. I might even let you mess around in my office a bit, use WeaselWare a little!
But don't control the gang. I don't think they'd like that, heh. So, ummm, yesterday, you learned quite a lot about me...so I have a bit of a question to ask, I guess. It's not really a question, because you can't answer back. I guess I just need to get it off my chest.
Do...Do you know Freddy Fazbear's? Freddy Fazbear's Pizza? I've been thinking about that cursed place for a long time this week. Can't seem to get it outta my head...like I have pieces of a puzzle in my brain I'm slowly starting to put together, y'know?
Heh. You know, they used to say the characters? They were haunted. It's a popular ghost story that there was a murderer, who wore nothing but PURPLE. Skin, eyes, hair, and clothes. All PURPLE.
The murderer had taken 5 children and then killed them. It's...actually not so much a ghost story and more of the closest story the police could make at the time. Freddy's wasn't a good place to be fair. And wanna know why? Kids and accidents happened at every location. People suspected that it was the same murderer every time.
No one knows why. Some say he was a DEMON. They called him the Purple Man.
But anyway, anyway...Freddy's WAS a nice place before all of those murders. I was a fan, and even named my daughter after one of the characters. Bonnie. I wanted to love that name again...not that I was a fan or anything.
...Heh. I don't always like to remember everything about that place when I worked there...and yes...I worked at Freddy's. When I was 18...ended up at the hospital after that, and then moved to England. Wanted to be as far away from it as possible.
Alright. Any questions?" Fritz finally finished.
The animatronics all looked at each other. They felt...strange. Fritz clearly knew a lot of things they didn't know. Something was odd...and Strings had more questions.
But? There was only one question for him to ask.
What is WeaselWare?
"Oh! Right! I completely forgot to tell you about one of the important things of this place!
WeaselWare is the operating system of this entire place. It links almost all of the machines to this place.
If you have full access? Like me? Then, you have control of EVERYTHING. Even the robots. Hell, I'd say everything I've built.
WeaselWare is a reprogrammed version of something I used to work on. It was...well, meant to track investigations of DNA around the world. I made it to find one person in particular...my brother...it didn't work...
...It was kind of illegal, so I reprogrammed it entirely. It can operate a few things in the pizzeria, but not everything unless you have full access.
That's all I have. Night."
Strings sighed. "That only answered one...but gave me more questions."
WEASELWARE...MY TICKET OUT...
