Time Square
The cold winter air tickles my face as I walked down 46th street, the smell of hot sweet nuts filling my nose as I walked past the stand. It grew a bit difficult to enjoy the gift of Christmas with people bumping into you left and right. Nonetheless, it was worth it when I looked around to see the bright christmas lights hanging from the stores and streetlights. The billboards shined through the night sky, flashing advertisements varying from models to Pepsi.
It seems unreal.
The quick pace of life here was hard to keep up with. You can't stay in one place for too long without getting shoved and hearing a less than half hearted apology. I decided to follow the current of people until I was face to face with the famous Rockefeller Christmas Tree. Standing 31 meters, reeking of pine and shined brighter than any star in the sky. In front was a small ice rink, holding only a handful of people. I grabbed their hand and took them to buy the tickets. All I felt was jitters as I put on my skates and go on the ice. The second my skate touched the ice, I slipped on the ice. My back hit the ground with a loud BANG! They laughed but help me up nonetheless. I hit them and continued to skate..well attempt to. I still fell on my ass multiple times but it was enjoyable. We skated till the rink closed and headed home. On the way, during this cold winter night hung a mistletoe. They smiled and pecked my lips before continuing to walk. To satisfy our hunger, we grabbed some NYC hot dogs on the way. They were Greasy, overpriced, and don't taste all that different from other hot dogs but somehow filled us up. Finally we went home and laid down on the couch.
"Happy NYC Christmas" I said smiling.
"Merry Christmas" They responded pecking my lips.
And with that, we finally rested
in the city that never sleeps.
