Chapter four
(The main character Lucas belongs to AriaNightmare from her book Omens. Go check it out!)
"Why is the teacher a kid?" Lucas whispered to Wyatt. Wyatt blinked slowly before responding. "He's a child genius. "He died at that age then came back as a ghost." "Oh." Lucas leaned back in his seat. His math teacher- Mr. Frankers- looked like ten year old boy. He flickered with a pale blue light and floated from one end of the chalkboard to the other, writing math equations. It was like the ghosts from Harry Potter but more real. Ahead of him Garland sat on a smaller desk on top of the desk. Every once in a while, she turned around and gave him a cheery smile. Lucas tried his best to follow the lesson, jolting down notes. The bell rang, startling him. "Ok class," Mr. Frankers called above the bustle of the classroom. "Your assignment tonight is to look at pages 12 and 13 in your math book. Oh, and Henry. Please don't let your sister eat your homework again."
Lucas gathered his things and slung his back over his shoulder, watching as Garland got up and went over to the edge of her desk. "You want some help?" He offered, coming over to her desk. She looked up at him and smiled. "Yes please!" She raised her arms like a toddler wanting to be carried. Lucas hesitated and carefully grabbed her around the waist and lifted her to the ground. "Thank you!" She said happily. She spun around to him and grinned. "Nutrition is next. Do you want to come hang out with my friends? Oh Wyatt, of course your invited too!" "Uhh. . . Depends." Lucas scratched his neck nervously. "Is your uh demon friend going to be there too?"
He paused for a moment then turned to Wyatt. "What was his name again?" "Nameless." Lucas raised an eyebrow. "Excuse me?" "He's Nameless." Wyatt responded. "That's his name," Garland chimed. "He's literally Nameless. And yes, he'll be there!" Oooookkkkkkk. That's not normal. Nope, no thank you. Don't feel like dying today. "Uhh. . . Thanks but no thanks Garland. Maybe later." She deflated for a moment but then perked up again. "Ok! Maybe at lunch then! Bye bye!" She expertly weaved through the legs of the other students and bounced out of the classroom. After their break, Lucas and Wyatt split up, going to their next class. Lucas went over to a guy to ask for directions to his science class. The guy turned around. He had odd colored skin hair and eyes. His skin was silver with an odd sheen to it. His hair was silvery purple and his eyes were silver as well. His left eye had a bronze cogwheel in it that remained still. "Hello." He greeted. "I am Void. Do you require assistance?"
"Are. . . You a robot?" Lucas asked, that being the first thing to pop into his mind. Void cocked his head. "Robot? Me?" "Yeah, are you one?" Void blinked. "A. . . R-r-r-ro-ro-ro," He seemed to begin having a spasm, the cog wheel in his eye spinning rapidly. "Æêwÿłvß ęræf end çxêœ øwâīf it śgrß błqê," He spouted, shaking violently. Lucas backed away, shocked. What the heck was this?!? Was Void malfunctioning? What should he do?! He hoped he wouldn't explode. Out of nowhere, he suddenly stopped shaking and straightened. "Oh. Please excuse me. This is rather embarrassing, but what did you say?" Nope. Nope nope nope, I'm not going through that again! Not gonna have a robot guy explode in my face! Not today thank you! "Nothing," Lucas lied. "Do you know where Science is?" "Room C5?" Void asked. "Yeah." "I do. I have that class next as well. If you want you may come with me."
"Uh. . . Ok." Lucas said. He didn't exactly want to go with Void in case he does the crazy malfunctioning thing again, but he did need to find the class. "Follow me." Void turned and began walking. Lucas fell into step next to him, slightly uncomfortable. He could tell that this Void guy was one of the popular kids just from his looks. Not to mention all the murmuring and smiling that followed wherever he went. It was weird. Lucas never was one of the popular kids- not that he had wanted to be one. All the popular kids he knew were self centered spoiled brats and jerks. But he could never understand how they could be ok with being followed around and talked to all the time. It seemed annoying in his opinion. "Hey yo, Void!" A voice called. Lucas looked around Void to see who the speaker was. A buff guy in the school uniform with curled horns around his head was glaring daggers at Void. "I wanna rematch!" He demanded. "At what?" Void asked politely. "YOU KNOW WHAT!!" Lucas could almost see the steam coming out of his ears.
He was suddenly aware of how sharp his fangs were. He unconsciously ran his tongue across his front teeth. Lucas wasn't as buff as this guy, but he was in pretty good shape. He bet he could take him down. He was pretty thirsty. . . Lucas suddenly snapped out of his thoughts in shock. What was he doing?! He didn't start fights! He finished them, but never started them. And thirsty? The hell was this, some kinda stupid vampire anime? Ugh. . . Why do people even like those? There's a couple of animes like that actually. . . The bell rang, signaling that class was starting. Void turned away from the horned guy and looked at Lucas. "We should go. I wouldn't want to make you late. It was inconsiderate of me to stop. I apologize." Lucas blinked. "Uh. It's ok I guess." Void began walking again, either oblivious or ignoring the enraged look the horned guy was giving him.
"Here we are," He said, stopping at the door. "This is Room C5. Shall we go in?" "Uh, sure man." Lucas said, opening the door. He was about to walk in but stopped and stared down at the floor, searching for any more tiny people in danger of being squished. Seeing none, he went in and sat himself at the first available seat he saw, dumping his books on the desk. Void sat at the desk besides him and pulled out a sheet of pencil and a paper. A woman with an extra eye on her forehead came in. She immediately got to work, teaching the class about how sound waves traveled through water on different frequencies. Lucas tried to follow what she said, checking the books for extra reference. As he worked he began to feel a slightly disturbing aura on the other side of him. At first he shrugged it off and kept working but the sensation got more and more disturbing as time went on. Finally he decided to sneak a glance at the kid next to him and nearly died on the spot.
It was the demon from earlier- Nameless. He was glowering at his textbook, looking very much like he would rip the head off the next creature that spoke to him. Heart pounding in his throat, he quickly whipped his head back down, trying not to swallow the knot that was forming in his throat. Aaahhhhhhhh God it's him!!! No no no no no crap crap crap! AAHGG WHY?! WHY IS THIS GUY HERE?!? OUT OF ALL THE PEOPLE I COULD OF BEEN NEXT TOO ITS THIS GUY!! WHY DOES THE FREAKING WORLD HATE ME?!? WHY DOES THIS GUY MAKE ME FEEL SO. . . AAAHHH!! He took a deep breath in and exhaled slowly. Ok Lucas. Don't lose it. What kind of man are you, getting all weirded out over one person? Sure said person is not actually a person but a demon from hell, but come on man! Don't be a wimp! Nameless slammed a fist onto the desk top in anger, engulfing the paper he was writing on in a black flame that burned away instantly. Aw. . . crap. Seriously universe? Seriously?
