The Manaia Beetle has special hook like mandibles on the sides of their faces, what they do on Menagerie is agricultural activity like planting fruits for other insects, finding ways beyond human concepts like temporarily harnessing the wind, carrying fire,  along with making floating islands in the sea for transporting others, they do that by diving deep to the oceans floor and using their hooks and creating a special webbing resin to keep the sands and rocks together and mixing it with Menagerian pumice which can hold things heavier than itself above the water. Their diet is of native and non native fruits and vegetables, they do not care for coconut. Warning their hook mandibles have a damaging effect on human skin with enough force to break bones. They are the same size as your palm. They get their name partially from the Polynesian fish hook that Maui used in Polynesian mythology. Native all around Menagerie.
