Chapter 1
"Am I doing it right?" you asked your mentor. Blessingsong was showing you how to stalk prey, and you were trying out a lopsided hunter's crouch.
"You're doing great!" she purred. "Just needs a bit of straightening." You nodded at your mentors' praise. Blessingsong had taken you out for a bit of training for the first day. You were still getting used to the mysterious forest, and didn't like all the darkness.
"What are those little flashing bugs?" you asked quietly. Blessingsong let out a little chuckle.
"Those are fairies, Y/A/N," she murmured. "They fly around in our woods, showing a path to light the way, because in this forest, it is always dark." You began to look bewildered.
"All the time?" you asked. "Even during the day?" Blessingsong nodded.
"Young one, I don't know where you came from," she murmured. "But our woods are like no other. You probably came from the waking word." Your eyes widened.
"What's the dwelling place?" you mewed.
"Hmm, well now, it's been a while since I've told this story, but sure. Settle down now." She tucked her paws under herself and sat on the dark forest floor. "Our place is called the dream world. Cats, twolegs, dogs, all sorts of animals travel here. But no one knows how." You shivered.
"There are dogs and twolegs here?" you whispered. Blessingsong shook her head.
"No, darling. The dogs and twolegs, they have their own dream world. But this, my friend, is the warriors dream world. We are cats who live in a clan, and follow the ways of the stars. You must know that, Y/A/N, because you were part of a clan." You tried to remember, but you couldn't.
"I don't remember any clan," you told her.
"Right," she mewed. "You don't remember. That's what happens when you come to the dream world. It's simply, your dreams."
"M-my dreams?" You found that hard to believe. This was a place of magic and mystery. How could you be dreaming.
"Yes, darling," Blessingsong replied. "We are not real," she whispered. "You are. We are a mere glimpse into the past."
"Wh-what?" you murmured.
"Remember," she whispered. You were straining to hear her words, but they faded away into darkness. The fairies faded, and all that was left was blackness. A voice echoed in your head.
"Y/A/N? Wake up! Wake up!" Their were several voices blurred together, and you couldn't make them out. You thought you saw cats, familiar cats, but you weren't sure.
"Oh Y/A/N," a voice whispered. You heard crying. "My little baby! You'll be okay, please! I can't go on without you." The voice was a she-cat's you realized. The cat was sobbing. You began to recognize this cat. You felt a warm milky presence from it, but you couldn't remember why.
"Shh, Roseflower. Let Y/A/N sleep. They are hurt, remember? Shh." This cat was new, and soon, you realized, you could make out the face. It was a grey cat, with blue eyes. It was staring at you, with a longing look, but the vision faded. The darkness overcame you again, and you were left in nothingness
