The little girl kept running, following her kitten behind as the scary goblins chased them through the forest. Suddenly, Sarah tripped over a tree root, scraping her knee on a sharp rock and fell face down. She looked back seeing the goblins coming closer, "Aurora! Help," the little girl screamed covering her face.
Aurora kept running deeper in the dead forest. Suddenly the kitten saw someone in the forest. He was a strange human, he had green curly hair, but was bald ontop, his face was white as clean snow, and had a big red nose. Aurora heard these types of humans before, they were funny people. Maybe this funny man could help her small human. She ran to him bit the end of his pants getting his attention.
"Oh," the clown chuckled, "hello there little kitten, what's your name?"
The kitten didn't speak, but kept her teeth on his pants trying to get him to follow her.
"You trying to get me somewhere," the clown asked.
"AURORA HELP!"
The clown froze hearing the scream of a small child. He then ran to the noise and Aurora followed. The screaming was getting louder as he kept running, "Hang on, I'm coming, kid, just hang on," was all the clown could say to the child.
He came and saw the goblins trying to grab her as the little girl hugged onto a tree. She was crying and shaking as the goblins tried yanking her off. The clown didn't hesitate and attacked the goblins by kicking them and punching them. "Leave her alone!"
The goblins yelped and cried as the clown fight them off. Suddenly he knocked down their leader and the rest of them panicked and ran back the way they came. The clown was breathing heavily and looked up at the little girl. She was now shaking as she hugged onto the tree. He also notice one of her legs were bleeding through her stocking. He slowly walked up to her, "Hey...it ok...I won't hurt you."
The girl whimpered softly burying her face against the tree. "Come on, now, I won't hurt you. Besides you're hurt. Let me help you, little one. Please?"
She wasn't budging. He thought what to do. Maybe he could make her laugh. So he tried making funny faces to her. The little girl watched him as he made funny faces and even started to do a clumsy dance. He then fell back acting like he tripped. She then giggled softly at him.
The clown finally sat up smiling. "What's your name, little one?"
"...Sarah..."
The clown stopped once he saw her face. She didn't look like a clown. Wait...he heard her kind before. She was a human.
"I'm Carnival." Carnival smiled at her holding his hand out her.
She hesitated to take it, but gave in. She then carefully walked down to him.
"Careful," Carnival chuckled softly, "Don't wanna have you get hurt again."
He knelt down to check her wound. Sarah gripped on his shoulder as the clown examined her wound. "Does it hurt?"
"Kinda, Mr Carnival...," she said softly.
"Did those goblins did this to you?"
"No...I tripped and my knee hit those rocks," she pointed at the large rocks beside them.
"Well, good that it wasn't them, princess." Carnival then picked her up, "I will take you to my place and fix that leg up."
"My mommy and papa told me I should not go with strangers."
"...uh...that is true, Princess, your mommy and papa are very smart, but you can trust me, I'm Carnival and you're Sarah, now we know each other. We're friends now. Would you like to be?"
"Ok," Sarah slightly smiled. "Can we be...best friends? I always wanted a clown best friend."
Carnival chuckled, "of course, Princess, whatever you want." He put her on his shoulders and walked her out of the forest with Aurora by them. Sarah held Carnival's head as they walked out of the forest and came to a Amusement Park. He took her to a small colorful house by the Ferris Wheel and brought her in. He then set her down on a patched couch.
"This couch...it's so colorful," she giggled as Carnival looked for the first aid kit in a small bathroom.
"Yeah...uh...are your homes this colorful?"
"They are...pretty bland. My mommy likes to match everything in every room."
"I've heard that's what humans like," Carnival chuckled.
"Aren't you a human?" Sarah was now confused.
"Uh...no...I'm not..."
"Are you a space alien?" Sarah gasped.
"...I don't know, am I?" Carnival smirked, playing along.
"But you look human...but Space Aliens can make themselves look human too..."
"I'm not," he chuckled, "I'm not a alien. I'm a clown."
"But...where I come from, some people dress up as clowns."
"Well...here, our make up is part of us. We can't wash it off, that's the best I can explain." Carnival chuckled. "and I have heard of clowns from your world. So sad they left though."
"Yeah, I don't know why. Mommy said something about clown sightseeing."
Carnival shrugged as he attended to her scratch. "Well your fine now," he said as he bandaged it up, "it was just a small scratch."
Carnival then poked her nose and she giggled. "You have a nice smile, princess."
"...thank you," Sarah blushed.
"So uh...where did you come from?" Carnival asked.
"...well...I was in a forest behind my house...and my kitten found this door on a tree. So I went in through the door...and well...I found ourselves in that spooky scary woods...then that's when you came."
"Well good thing I was practicing my magic tricks in the woods. Otherwise no one would be there to save you, princess."
"And I thank you for that." Sarah smiled.
Carnival smiled, "of course...," he then sighed. He didn't know why The Joker wanted this girl. He must've seen her come in from the castle and send his goblins after her. "Y-you didn't see anyone else did you?"
"No, just the goblins...and you."
"That's good."
Maybe The Joker did not see her, but why would the goblins try to kidnap her. They do nothing unless The Joker gives them orders. He was pretty evil and sneaky.
"Why? You look scared as if I did."
"Oh...uh...there is a very bad clown here, and I was worried he may have seen you and had those goblins get you."
"The only clown I've seen is just you."
"And good me, because I am nothing like him, I never want to hurt anyone, especially a little girl like yourself, princess."
He poked her chest and she giggled.
"Are you all alone here?"
"If you mean my home, yes, if you mean my town, no. I have friends, would you like to meet them?"
"Are they nice too?"
"Of course, princess." He held his hand out for her to take. The little girl took the clown's hand and he led her into the amusement park with Aurora following behind them.
"Hello, Carnival," another clown called to them, "oh looks like we have a visitor, we don't get a lot of human visitors around here."
"I don't think I am surprised," Sarah giggled, "the doorway is in my backyard, and I am surprised I never saw it until now."
"In the backyard?" The clown was surprised. He thought for a bit and the expression on his face as if he knew about it.
"Have you been to my backyard?" Sarah asked.
"Oh no, it's just...sounds familiar. By the way, I am Bimbo. What's your name?"
"Sarah."
"Well it's nice to meet you, Sarah."
"And it's very nice to meet you too, Mr Bimbo."
"Is uh...Jubi and Cheri around?" Carnival asked.
"Of course, they are in the clown church as always," Bimbo smiled.
"You have a church?" Sarah asked.
"We sure do," Carnival smiled as he took her hand and took her to the clown church, "Don't you humans have churches?"
"We do, but I don't think we have clown churches."
Carnival chuckled and ruffled her hair. "Come on, I will take you inside."
Once inside, the place was colorful in so many beautiful colors. Carnival let her in the back of the church and knocked in the door.
A lady clown with dark curly purple hair, black and white striped long sleeve shirt, with a red skirt, black tights and red heels came to the door, "Oh bonjour, Carnival, and who is this little child."
"This is Sarah. I just met her today from Spooky Woods."
"Spooky Woods? Don't tell me you were in there again," the French clown girl sighed.
"Uh...uh....."
She then sighed again, "Alright, I won't tell Bimbo you were. Come in."
"Thanks, Cheri," Carnival chuckled.
"Don't mention it," she said, but didn't smile, "Jubi dear, Carnival has stopped by and has brought a little friend."
"Really? I just love friends!" A clown with dark blue hair, wearing red suspenders, a blue tie, black pants, black shoes and brown gloves came. "Hiya there! Nice to meet'cha!"
The clown took Sarah's hand and shook it in incredible speed.
"Jubi!" Cheri yelled, "she's just a kid. Sorry for my husband, little one, he can be...a bit...excited meeting new people."
"Especially humans, we rarely have any come here. You're the second."
"Uh thanks...who was the first?" Sarah asked after he let go of her hand.
"A boy...he was around Carnival and Jo-oof!"
"What my husband was about to say...another clown. They were only 12 years old." Cheri said, then she whispered to Jubi, "We are not allowed to speak of his name remember?"
"Oops," Jubi shrugged, embarrassed.
"Who's the other clown? Is the evil clown, Carnival mentioned?" Sarah asked.
Cheri was in shock and frowned at Carnival. "Well yes, but he shouldn't have told you."
"I fear she was in danger. I found her in Spooky Woods and his goblins were trying to kidnap her," Carnival said.
Jubi and Cheri stopped in place and looked worried for the girl.
"You said...the goblins tried to kidnap her?" Cheri asked.
Carnival nodded.
"That means he saw her," Jubi whispered.
"Yes, which means she's not safe here." Cheri whispered back to her husband.
"Wait a minute, we can't just send her back and never see her again," Carnival said.
"I'm sorry, Carnival," Cheri said, "but if he saw her, she is in danger."
"But...I promised her I would be her friend...she's my best friend..." Carnival squeezed the little girl's hand.
Cheri sighed, she hated it when she seen Carnival upset. She was pretty close to him as family. "Alright, but don't let her out of your sight. If she's in Amusement Park Town, she is safe. And when she has to go back, you stay with her until she really has left."
"Speaking of home," Sarah spoke finally, "I think I should get home myself. It's been awhile and my folks would be worried about me and Aurora."
"Carnival, you know where she came from?" Cheri asked, turning to him.
"Somewhere in Spooky Woods, don't worry I will keep her safe." Carnival promised. He took her hand and they left.
"Please come back," Jubi called out, happily, "Safely of course."
Once in Spooky Woods, Carnival took his plaid jacket off and wrapped it around her and put his small hat on her, "So he can't see you," he held her hand and walked around, "Bimbo also told me there is a door here. Maybe it was the one you came out of."
He finally found it and smiled, "good it is here. Well, princess..."
Sarah then threw her arms around him, "thank you...again for saving me."
Carnival chuckled, "of course, princess. And you still can come and visit anytime you want."
"I can?" She asked.
"Of course," he said, kneeling down, taking his hat and jacket off of her, "besides, I don't wanna loose my best friend."
Sarah smiled. Aurora came to him and purred against his leg. Carnival chuckled and petted the black kitten.
"Be a good little girl ok?"
"I will."
"You promise?"
"I promise."
Carnival smiled, ruffling her hair. "I will see you soon, and...do be careful next time."
"But will you be alright?" Sarah asked.
"What do you mean?"
"If the evil clown saw me...will he come after you for saving me?"
"Well if he did...he would've showed up already at my house. Don't worry, princess, he doesn't scare me. He just a jealous runt he is." He held her face and kissed her forehead, "now you go home."
Sarah picked up Aurora and went into the doorway once Carnival opened it for her. "Bye..."
Carnival smiled, "bye, princess."
And soon she was gone deep in the dark hallow tree. He shut the door and sighed. I will see her again. It's fine...
