Chapter 1: The Door
It was a quiet cold day out in the country. Leaves were rustling in the trees, birds trying to keep themselves warm in their nests, the squirrels burying their nuts for winter, and the other animals get ready for a big slumber.
One small black kitten was walking in the forest. She was trying to lead her young human to a secret place, but the child was distracted by the taller humans.
"Sarah, wait," Mrs Thomas said grabbing her daughter's arm, "it's very cold out, I can't let you catch a cold." She put a scarf, a hat and spring jacket on her, "And slip on some boots, there might be still some mud out there."
"Yes, mum," her daughter replied. She changed her shoes into boots and finally got outside.
"Be back before supper. Stay clean. And stay out of mischief!" Mrs Thomas called out.
"Yes, mother." Sarah closed the door and followed Aurora her kitten. The two walked into the quiet forest. "Where do you think you're taking me?"
"Meow," the kitten meowed, looking back at her and kept trotting into the forest.
"If only you can talk." Sarah sighed.
Soon she stopped. Aurora led her to a strange door on a tree.
"I never seen this before," Sarah said, surprised, "did you know this was here all the time?"
"Meow." Aurora ran her paws on the door as if she wanted her small owner to open the enchanting door. Sarah walked up to the door and pried it open. Finally after one last budge, the door swung open. Sarah peeked in and saw nothing, but utter darkness.
"Just what I thought, an hallow tree," the five year old sighed, but her kitten trotted in, "Aurora, get out of there. There's nothing in there."
The little girl then crawled inside to follow her kitten. She got on her hands and knees and crawled after the kitten. For awhile, the little girl pondered for a bit as she crawled, should she feel the end of the tree by now? Suddenly she heard the faint meows of her kitten. She tried to reach for her, but instead fell through another door.
"Oof!" Sarah tumbled face down rolling down hill. Finally she came to a stop. She looked around herself and was in complete shock. "Wh-where am I? This doesn't look like my forest."
Aurora came down to the little girl and looked around. Sarah now was scared. "Aurora? What happened? I feel like we aren't home anymore...and I am scared."
Noises were all around the little girl. Sound of crows calling. Unknown scary noises she never heard of.
Suddenly in the corner of her eye she saw somethings coming towards her and Aurora. They looked like...goblins. Aurora then fled away and Sarah followed.
"Aurora don't leave me!" Sarah cried as the goblins chased after her.
