Chapter 22
Chapter 22: First kiss
--one day later--
~June's POV~ First kiss. Every girl wants theirs to be perfect--the perfect guy, the perfect setting, the perfect mood... Everything.
My first kiss was, I guess, perfect.
Leo and I went out to a fancy restaurant (of which the name is impossible to pronounce) and we had a fancy, expensive dinner.
Since Leo is incredibly wealthy, he could've bought the entire restaurant.
Anyhow, Leo was being a gentleman as usual. He's really a great guy, I'm glad we've met up again.
Leo was saying how beautiful I was and how my beauty shouldn't be possible in anyone and I, of course, was blushing like crazy.
No one had ever complimented me like that before. Ever.
"I could listen to you talk on and on for ages," Leo had said. "And, I will."
Then, it happened.
Then, he leaned forward and kissed me.
I remember leaning into the kiss and wrapping my arms around his neck and him wrapping his around my waist.
And, just like that, I had my first kiss.
"Will you be my girlfriend?" Leo had asked after the kiss.
I had happily looked into his eyes and said, "Yes."
Then, we kissed again.
After our date ended, I went back to Hope's Peak and he went back home since he didn't live on the grounds like I did.
The second I got back to my dorm room, I found Kyouko sleeping.
And then, my phone rang.
I answered it.
"Hey."
"Hey, June, is your date over yet?"
I chuckled. "Yes, Hina, it's over. It just ended."
"Well... how did it go???"
"It went great... In fact, he kissed me."
Silence.
Then: "OMG, OMG, OMG!!! JUNE!!! Seriously?! No way!!! This is so exciting!!! You had your first kiss!!! YAY!!!"
I smiled. "Yes, Hina, I did!!!"
Then, Hina and I both had a mini squeal-fest that lasted about a minute.
"Did you kiss back??? Tell me you kissed back."
"I did, Hina! I kissed back!"
"YAY!!! Omg, I'm so happy for you, June!!!"
"Thanks! And, guess what? We're officially a couple! I'm his girlfriend!!!"
More silence.
And then: "AHHHH!!! NO WAY!!! I knew it, I knew it, I knew it! I knew you two would get together!!! Erin now owes me fifteen bucks!"
I chuckled again. "Good for you, Hina."
"Yeah, good for me! Omg! I've got to tell Sakura all the details! And I've gotta tell Sayaka and Ibuki and Erin especially!"
"You do that," I said. Then, I yawned. "Well, it's kinda late, I'm gonna hit the hay."
"Yeah, me too. Good night!"
"Yeah, good night, Hina."
Then I hung up.
I looked over to Kyouko's bed to see she was still sleeping.
I'll have to tell her about the date tomarrow.

~Third Person POV~ "They're what???"
"I don't know! Probably! At least, that's what I've heard!" Makoto said to Byakuya the next morning as they leaned against the lockers and watched June, Leo, and all of their friends talk.
This had become part of their schedule for some reason--watching June and Leo.
Byakuya and Makoto watched as Leo suddenly wrapped one arm around June's waist and kissed her temple.
Byakuya scoffed. "I can't believe it--I can't believe June actually fell for his prince charming bullshit. It's obvious he's only with her for one thing and you and I both know what that thing is." he said angrily.
"Well... maybe he actually likes June... Maybe he doesn't only care for her looks... Maybe he's with her because he fell in love with not just her looks but her personality too." Makoto shrugged.
Byakuya snorted at this. "Oh please, Naegi. Leo doesn't care in the slightest about June's personality. In fact, he probably wouldn't care if June was a murderer or a psychopath. He's only with her to get into her pants. Trust me, Naegi--I've watched this guy sweet talk girls, it's always the same."
"If you say so, Byakuya."
However, Makoto knew Byakuya cared too much just for him to think it was foolish--this obviously stemmed much deeper than that.
And, Makoto also knew that deep down, Byakuya knew that too.
Suddenly, Byakuya and Makoto saw Leo wrap both his arms around June's waist and pull her in for a deep and passionate kiss that seemed to last forever. Around them, June's friends hooted and hollered, encouraging them.
Makoto just looked down awkwardly before Byakuya glared and slammed his locker shut. Then, he walked away and left, Makoto following close behind.
"Look, Byakuya, if it bothers you that much, there's no need to worry; Leo's leaving and going back to Hashimoto Prep in about two weeks from now--he'll be out of your life once again. And you won't have to deal with watching June and Leo flirt anymore. That's the bright side!" Makoto said as they walked.
Byakuya huffed. "Well, Naegi, two weeks can't come soon enough..." he grumbled.
~~~~~~~~~~~
The next week, after the weekend had ended, everything seemed simple enough; Byakuya was pissed off at the world, June and Leo seemed to be always together, and Leo kept rubbing it in Byakuya's face that he was dating June and Byakuya wasn't.
Every day seemed to pass slower than the last for Byakuya.
He thought things couldn't get any worse.
He would be proved wrong.
He and Makoto were on their way to first period when they suddenly ran into Leo, June, and their group of friends.
Byakuya groaned.
Leo had his arm around June. "Hola, Byakuya, Makoto! You heading to first period?" he said.
"Yes, Leo, we are." Byakuya said through gritted teeth.
Leo's very presence annoyed him.
"We are too! But, before we resume our trip to first period, I was just about to make an important announcement!" Leo said. He had everyone's attention.
He cleared his throat. "As you all know, all the students from Hashimoto Prep, including me, are to be returning back to our school in about two weeks time."
And I've been counting down the days. Byakuya thought to himself.
"Because, in two weeks time, is the end of the Student Exchange Month. So, we're all supposed to go back to Hashimoto Prep. However, there's been a slight change in plans... Well, for me, anyway." Leo continued.
That really got Byakuya's attention.
Byakuya had slight hope. Please be leaving earlier, please be leaving earlier, please be leaving earlier...!
Leo went on. "The change of plans is that, while the rest of my classmates will be returning to Hashimoto Prep, that is not the case for me. A couple of days ago, my parents and I discussed how pleased we were with Hope's Peak Academy and how they teach things. And, Hope's Peak, and it's students, have grown on me... So, my parents and I agreed--I will no longer be attending Hashimoto Prep. Instead, I will be transferring here for the remainder of the school year! I will officially be a student at Hope's Peak Academy!" he said and smiled.
Everyone was silent. That is, until June and her friends cheered and smiled, glad that Leo would be staying.
Byakuya and Makoto just stood there, not really reacting.
Makoto looked over at Byakuya nervously, afraid he might blow any second now.
Byakuya's right eye was slightly twitching and his fists were white from him squeezing them tightly--he was desperately trying to stay calm and keep it together.
Finally, he eventually said, "You're... You're staying...?"
Leo nodded. "Yes!"
Byakuya felt faint.
Makoto put one hand on his shoulder. "It's okay... Calm down..." he whispered.
"Well," Byakuya said shortly. "Good for you, Leo. I'm going to class. See you around." Then he spun around and immediately headed to class with Makoto.
"Byakuya...! Byakuya, wait up! Stop going so fast! I can hardly keep up...!" Makoto said as he raced after Byakuya.
"I can't do it! I can't do it, Naegi! I just can't. It's already hard enough having to deal with June, but now I've got to deal with Leo? For the entire rest of the year? Ha! Forget about it!" Byakuya rambled as he walked with a quick pace.
"Look, I know this must be a tad disappointing--"
"A tad disappointing? Oh no, Naegi. A tad disappointing is getting no butter on your toast. This is a lot more than just a tad disappointing...!" Byakuya said. "I'm going to have to put up with Jeo for the entire year!"
Makoto looked confused. "What's a Jeo...?"
"Nevermind! It doesn't matter! The point is, we're not even halfway through the year yet and this is already hell..." Byakuya snapped.
"Just ignore them then. They won't be able to annoy you if you're ignoring them!" Makoto said. "And, on the good side of things, nothing else is gonna change! And, nothing else is gonna get worse either! Like you keep saying, it can't possibly get worse."
"And it seems I'm wrong about that every time."
"Well, I guarantee, this time you'll be right. Okay? Are we good now?"
"No, Naegi, we're not good. We'll be 'good' when both June and Leo decide to move to a different planet. Then we'll be 'good'. And, if that ever happens, give me a call!" Byakuya huffed before he stormed off to class.
