Chapter 1: Hope's Peak Academy

|August 25th, 2015|
~June's POV~

BEEP. BEEP. BEEP.

My eyes slowly open to the screeching sound of my horrid alarm clock.

BEEP. BEEP. BEEP.

Ugh... Please stop and go away...

BEEP. BEEP. BEEP.

I groan before I sit up and slam my hand down on top of my alarm clock. I blink several times and notice that it's morning.

Ugh... Morning... And if it's morning, it must be Monday... Great...

Wait a second... IT'S MONDAY?!?!?

I immediately sprang up out of my bed, ran to my sister, Erin's, room, and knocked on her door.

"Erin! WAKE UP! It's Monday!!!" I shouted.

A groan came followed by, "Yeah, so?"

I sighed. "Erin, it's Monday... As in August twenty-fifth... As in our first day at Hope's Peak Academy...!" I said.

Not two seconds passed before Erin opened her bedroom door. Her brown hair was in a tangled mess on her head. Her green eyes studied me. In fact, the only thing we have in common is our green eyes, and even mine are a bit darker than hers. Other than that, we look nothing alike. And we're twins...

"Hm...? It's Monday...?! Oh boy, our first day at Hope's Peak?!?! It's the first day of school, June!" Erin said.

"Oh really...? Gosh, I didn't notice...!" I said sarcastically.

"Whatever, June. Just go get ready!" Erin said before her door slammed shut.

I shrugged to myself before I headed back to my room to get ready.

Today was my first day at Hope's Peak Academy, a prestigious school for wealthy and-or smart kids. But, they also have an Advanced Talents program, which is how I got into the school.

My name is June Takahashi. I'm sixteen years old and apparently, I'm the Ultimate Gymnast. This title was given to me by Hope's Peak. When I tried out and after I made it in, they announced that from here on out I was the "Super Highschool Level Gymnastics Prodigy" or Ultimate Gymnast.

I have to admit, I'm pretty proud of my title.

Erin and I had auditioned to get into Hope's Peak's Advanced Talents program, and to our amazement, we made it in.

Erin's title was the Ultimate Hockey Star.

Erin has been obsessed with hockey ever since Dad had shown her how to shoot a hockey puck into a goal (Erin was six years old at the time).

My dad is a retired hockey player, he's the one who taught Erin everything she knows. However, Dad's never been on TV, and he isn't famous like Erin is.

Erin, however, has been on TV numerous of times. She even plays up on a professional hockey team. Yeah, she's that good.

And, to other people, I basically only exist as her sister.

Whenever someone would see me, they'd be all "Oh my gosh! You're Erin Takahashi's sister, aren't you?! It must be so cool to have a hockey star as your sister!" also "What's it like to be related to a hockey legend?!" and don't forgot the most ridiculous one yet, "What's your name again?"

So, I basically live in my sister's shadow. But, then again, I don't really mind. I don't have any friends, and that's not a problem for me.

Erin is the older twin (by two minutes) the stronger twin, the famous twin, and the social twin.

I, however, am the younger twin, the "unknown" twin, and the shy twin. I don't have any friends except for Erin and my older brother, Jesse.

Sad, I know.

But, I don't need friends.

All I'm focused on is gymnastics. Ever since I made the Regional Competitive team, gymnastics is all I think about. I have no time for distractions like friends and all that. My schedule is full.

Besides, who needs friends when you have yourself? Exactly!

Well... There was a time when I did have a friend... A long time ago... Years ago, even...

But, I don't talk about him anymore. In fact, he showed me more than ever that you can't trust anyone, and that you should never have friends.

He opened my eyes to that.

And, frankly I'm GLAD.

Anyhow! I shouldn't waste my time thinking about him in the first place!

As soon as I finished getting ready, I raced downstairs and into the kitchen to find Erin already ready and at the kitchen table eating a poptart, my dad sitting at the island eating a piece of toast and reading the newspaper, and my brother, Jesse, sitting next to Dad playing a game on his phone. Dad smiled when he saw me.

"Hey, princess! You excited for your first day at Hope's Peak?"

I nodded in response.

"I still can't believe you and Erin got into a prestigious private school for prodigies, Junebug..." Jesse said without looking up from his phone.

"It's not just for prodigies, ya' know." I said.

"Yeah, if you're rich or smart you can attend, also." Erin said, with a mouth full of poptart.

"Man, I wish I was a prodigy... Instead I'm forced to go to normal boring highschool. Well, at least I WAS, now I'm on my way to college! Goodbye highschool, hello promise land!" Jesse said.

Last year, Jesse was in the twelfth grade, his last year of highschool. Now, he's going to college.

This year, Erin and I are in twelfth grade. Hope's Peak Academy is somewhat like a normal senior highschool; it only occupies eleventh and twelfth graders.

Last year, Erin and I attended a normal highschool, but when we found out about Hope's Peak, we figured we'd try and get in. I mean, going to a fancy and prestigious private school has GOTTA look good on a college application...!

Of course, Erin was sad about her friends because she'd miss them. I, of course, didn't have a problem with it, mainly because I had no friends.

"Yeah, Jess, you're the big man," Dad said, interrupting my thoughts. Then he sighed. "And, not only is Jesse leaving me, you girls are leaving me too! I can't believe you'll all be gone for a whole school year...!"

I sighed. "Dad, relax. We get to visit on weekends and holidays!"

Since Erin and I made it into Hope's Peak as prodigies, we will be living on the school grounds. So, if you got an "Ultimate" title, Hope's Peak Academy was basically a boarding school.

Dad sighed. "Yeah, but it's still a long time!" He said.

"Don't worry, Dad, we'll be back before you know it." Erin said.

"Yeah, plus there is such a thing as video chatting..." I pointed out.

Dad sighed once more before he looked at the clock. "Oh, it's time for you all to leave." He said.

"But, I never had breakfast..." I mumbled.

"They do have breakfast at the school." Erin said. I shrugged.

"Alright." I said.

Dad got up and gave Erin and I a kiss.

"Bye girls, see you on Saturday. Probably." Dad said. Erin and I smiled before we walked out the door and exited our house, Jesse followed.

"So, whose car are we taking?" Erin asked once we got outside.

"Uh, I don't mind," I said. "We could take mine...?"

Erin nodded. "Okay. Let's go."

Erin and I hopped in my car just as we saw Jesse drive away in his. Jesse waved to us and we waved back.

Soon, I started the car and we drove off.

It took us about fifteen minutes to get to Hope's Peak. When we arrived, my eyes widened.

Even though we've been here before, this place's size still surprised me.

Erin and I got out of the car and looked up at the school.

"Hope's Peak Academy," Erin said. Then, she took a deep breath and turned to me. "Let's do this thing."

Sorry the first chapter is bad :/  But, it'll get better as the story goes on! I promise!
