18 Years after the Disappearance of Arth Online...

HINAWI KO ang palad sa mesa at naglaho ang hologram. The class has ended. Students are rushing outside their classrooms, excited na gawin ang mga plano nila after school. I quietly headed outside at nilapitan ang naghihintay na Arthur at Felicity.

"Finally! Natapos na rin ang class mo!" napalingon ako nang marinig ang nababagot na boses ng kuya ni Felicity na si Forrest.

I glared at him. "What is furry boy doing here?"

"Susunduin tayo para sa gathering nina Mama." Felicity sighs. "Nag world war 3 na nga kami kagabi dahil ang kulit nilang dalawa ni Mama!"

"Naa-awa talaga ako kay Tito Hex at si Tita Feure pa napakasalan niya." Arthur comments.

Hindi ako sumali o sumang-ayon dahil wala naman akong paki-alam sa pamilya nila.

"But they are very sweet around each other, kahit na sakit sa ulo si Mama." depensa ni Felicity.

"Ang saya nga ng bangayan nila lagi." tawang-tawa si Forrest.

I blankly stared at him. Talaga bang college na 'to? Ang ingay-ingay kasi. He looks and acts like his mom.

"Bestiessss!"

Mabilis akong umilag sa paparating na yakap ni Risu, ang aking pinsan. It's such a wonder how she is adopted but is exactly Tito River's mini-me. Ngumuso siya nang ang mayakap na lamang ay hangin.

"That's mean, Soleis!"

Tumango ako. "Mm."

Tumingin si Forrest sa relo. "Okay, so si Vysmir na lang hinihintay. Nasaan na ba ang lalaking 'yon? Wengya. Parang ang ama niya lang na pagong kung kumilos!"

Napakalakas ng boses nito. Hindi niya man lang napansin na nasa likuran niya na si Vysmir. This is why I don't call him Kuya. He doesn't act like one.

Ngumiwi si Felicity dahil sa bunganga ng kapatid. Risu chuckles and Arthur face-palms.

"What did you say about Dad?"

Natigilan si Forrest at nawala ang saya sa mukha niya sa isang iglap. Vysmir's cold voice is very scary, at ito ang isa sa mga dahilan kung bakit popular siya sa school. It's a weird thing but I don't really care. Forrest's mouths forms into a grim line. Napalunok siya. Ayan, karma.

Forest blinks. "Please sabihin niyong hindi si Vysmir ang nasa likod ko."

Vys raises a brow.

"Siya." wika ko.

Forrest gives me a 'really' look na sinagot ko ng sariling 'whatever' look. In a second, his nervous face is replaced with determination and fighting spirit. Umikot siya paharap kay Vys. Alam kong isang bangayan naman ang sisimulan niya kaya hinatak ko na ang likuran ng kaniyang t-shirt. Forrest chokes in pain.

"Hindi ba't pumunta ka dito para sunduin kami? Bilisan mo na."

Forrest sighs. "Fine. Will you go on a date with me, then?"

Arthur frowns. "Hoy."

Risu glares at Forrest while Vys kicks the back of his knee. Napadaing siya at inaya na lang kami papunta sa parking lot.

"Sina Melissa?" tanong ni Felicity.

"Tita Lystra fetched her."

Pumasok kami sa sasakyan niya. Felicity sits in the front seat, habang nasa second seat naman kami ni Risu at nasa hulihan sina Arthur at Vys. We're in the Mcmillan's family car.

Forrest starts the engine at patalbog-talbog pa kami sa una bago naging maayos ang byahe.

"Seriously? Hindi ba kayo bumili ng bago?" tanong ni Risu. "Ang dami niyong pera!"

"Mama doesn't want to kasi nga umaandar pa naman daw ito!" singhal ni Forrest. "Bakit pa daw bibili ulit eh konting ayos lang 'to?"

"Ano sabi ni Tito Hex?" tanong ng chismoso kong kambal.

"Papa bought a new one. Of course, hindi siya nakinig kay Mama." biglang kumunot ang noo ni Felicity. "Hindi ko din alam paano niya napa-oo si Mama do'n. Noong umaga kasi bati na sila at bumili na si Papa."

Tumawa si Forrest. "Basta, bunso. Still, we can't use it because Mama says this is still running. Kung masira na daw 'to." he curses under his breath. Akala niya naman hindi ko narinig 'yon. "Tangina, gusto ko nga 'tong dalhin sa drag racing para talagang wasak na."

Napakagara na ng teknolohiya ngayon pero parang pangsinauna itong sinasakyan namin ngayon.

Humalumbaba ako at tumingin sa labas. From behind, Vys offers his bag of chips. Kumuha ako mula dito at tahimik na ngumuya. With the car's slow and bumpy drive, we'll probably arrive in two months.

"If I'm correct, hindi ba't dadating din ang ibang kaibigan nila Mama?" tanong ni Arthur.

Tumango si Risu. "Some friends they made from a game? I doubt they're in the same university dahil sa mga age gaps."

"Well, palagi naman talagang may mini-reunion sina Mama, Papa, Tita Rev, Tito Val, Tita Lystra, Tito Priam at ang Papa ni Risu-"

Pinutol ni Risu ang pagmemention ni Felicity. "River and Irusu."

"I'm sorry. Mama never says their name." ngumiwi si Felicity.

Forrest smirks. "He does say Tito Irusu's name. Iba't ibang car brands nga lang."

"I'm still surprised at how Tita Rev, the calmest and softest woman, is best friends with Tita Feure, the loudest person ever." kauna-unahang komento ni Vys.

"Isn't it just the same as how Arthur vibes with Forrest the most?" I pointed out.

"Masaya akong mahal na mahal niyo talaga ako, mga babies. Pero, nandito na tayo!" Forrest stops his junk of a car. "Welcome to the Von Caspar mansion!"

Walang may pumansin sa kaniya. Nagsilabasan kaming lahat. Maids ushers out and in of the house, looking very busy. Nakahilera ang mga sasakyan at motor ng mga taong kasali sa reunion na 'to. Until now, hindi ko alam kung bakit ba may reunion silang ganito.

Whenever I ask Mama kung saang game sila nagkakilala, misteryoso lamang siyang ngingiti. Kapag si Tito Aurelius, ang kapatid ni Papa, ang tatanungin ko, he'll say the game is already gone.

"Ate Sol!" biglang bati sa'kin ni Melissa. "Kuya Arth!"

Ngumiti si Arthur kay Melissa at nilaro ang kamay ni Penelope, ang two-years old na baby ni Tito Priam na hawak-hawak ni Melissa.

"Hello there, Penny! Did you help with organizing the party?" marahang tanong ni Arthur sa bata.

Penelope nods and gives a toothy grin. "Yesh! Help much!"

"Ahh!" nagulat ako nang magkatabi na si Felicity at Arthur. "Ankyut mo talaga, baby!"

"Penny cute!" masayang pagsang-ayon ng bata.

"Arthur, I'm just going to find Mama." paalam ko sa kapatid na tumango lamang dahil busy ito.

The living room is filled with decorations and people. Hindi naman talaga masyadong marami ang kaibigan ni Mama. They can fit the whole living room and can still make some space.

Nakita ko si Forrest na inaabala si Tito Hex na nakikipag-usap kay Tito Priam at sa girlfriend nito. Parang hinahanap niya ata si Tita Feure. Not far from them, nakita ko si Vys na nakikipag-usap kay Asveal, ang anak ni Tito Astro. I frowned. Hindi ko talaga gets kung bakit gusto nitong matawag sa IGN kaysa sa totoong pangalan.

In the other side of the room, a commotion is happening. For some reason, Tito Val and Tita Lystra are arguing about something. Nagbabangayan sila at ito'y ginagasolinahan naman ni Tito River. As expected, Tito Irusu is behind him, eating his yogurt quietly.

"Leis!" masayang bati ni Tita Ace at lumapit sa'kin. "My beautiful inaanak, how are you?"

"I'm looking for Mama po." sagot ko.

"As stoic as her Papa, as always!" tumawa ito.

"May something ka ba sa 'as' at inuulit-ulit mo 'to?" tanong ni Tita Rase na sumulpot sa likuran niya. "Oh, btw, have you seen Ryker? Magkasama sila ni Aldrich at hindi pa sila nakakabalik."

"Probably smoking again, Mom." Tita Rase's daughter, Sanya, cuts in. "Alam mo naman ang dalawang 'yon." she glances at me. "Hello, Leis."

Binigyan ko siya ng tango bilang pagbati.

"Kailan ba titigil ang dalawang 'yon?"

Tita Ace deeply sighs and walked out to find his husband. Si Tita Rase naman ay lumabas kasama si Sanya. Nagpatuloy ako sa paghahanap kay Mama. I only stopped when a girl steps into my way.

Nagtama ang mata namin. Tension sparks between us as we glare at each other.

"Soleis." malamig na bati niya.

"Chastity." I offered my coldest tone.

Muling dumaan ang galit at kompetisyon sa aming mata. Natigil lamang iyon nang lumapit sa'min ni Vys at Asveal, kasama si Tito Astro.

"Where is your mother, Leis?" tanong ni Tito.

I shrugged. "Hinahanap ko din po siya."

"I see. Where's Feure or at least, Hex? Nandito na kasi si Holden."

"Ha?! Nandito na ang emo boy na 'yon?" Tito Valdimir appears behind Tito Astro. "Shit. River might throw a fit."

"I don't really care. Ayoko lang masali sa maaring gulo."

I watched as Tito Astro walk away. Nang ilipat ko ang tingin sa may pintuan ay nandoon nga si Tito Holden na nakasuot muli ng all-black. From what Tita Feyre told us, dahil mahilig siya sa chismis, Tito Astro and Holden are madly in love with Mama back then. Pero nareject sila nang hindi man lang nakakagawa ng move.

For unknown reasons, Tito River doesn't want people to know Mama. Lalo na ang malaman ang address na tinutuluyan namin. It took Tito Holden five years to finally meet Mama in person daw.

"Idiot ka ba, Mr. Royalty." dumating na si Tita Lystra. "Of course, River won't throw a fit. Ilang beses na kayang nagattend si Kuya Holden dito."

"He will throw a fit once Hal enters his depressive mood again! At mangyayari 'yon kapag nakita niya namang magkasama si Sol- este si Rev at Rae!"

"E'di hindi natin sila ipagstand beside each other!"

"And how do you plan on doing that when those two are so in love they don't want to be seperated?!"

Papa is surprisingly very clingy even with his emotionless face. And my parent's love increases each day.

Natahimik ang buong sala nang isang malaking pagsabog ang narinig. Immediately, everyone went towards the source of the sound. Nang makarating kami sa kitchen ay apat na pigura ang nakita namin na napapalibutan ng usok. Si Mama, si Tita Feure, Tita Vesta and lastly Tita Aschella, Papa's cousin.

"Anong nangyari?!" mabilis na hinatak ni Tito Hex si Tita Feure palabas. "Bakit ka na itim?"

"Kasi ang init ng araw sa loob ng kusina- ANO BA SA TINGIN MO NANGYARI, SORO?!" sigaw ni Tita Feure.

"It's her fault." Tita Vesta says, letting Tito Val pat away the black smoke and grease from her face.

"Ano na naman bang ginawa mo?"

Nanlaki ang mata ni Tita Feure sa akusasyon ni Tito Hex. "BAKIT AKO?!"

"No one else in this room is capable of doing this," Tito Astro gestures the whole kitchen. "except you."

"Magpasalamat ka at tinatamad akong makipaglaban ngayon, expired na bituin."

"Thank you." that was the most emotionless gratitude I've ever heard.

"Anyway, nilagay ko ang smoothie sa napakainit na microwave. Nag-ice kasi, at naiinip na akong maghintay."

"You didn't use the microwave-safe cup?" Tito Aurelius ask.

Napaawang ang labi ni Tita Feure. "Ha? May gano'n?"

Everyone muttered their own curses and looked away from the girl. Napapangiwi na rin si Felicity sa sinasabi ng ina niya.

"But, sis, hindi mo man lang siya pinigi-"

Natigil ang sasabihin niya nang makita si Mama. Katabi na nito si Papa at tahimik silang nag-uusap sa gilid. Papa is softly wiping her face clean and there's a small smile in his lips.

"Wengya." mabilis na reaksiyon ni Tito Holden.

"Hindi ba may dine-date kang babae ngayon, Hal?" tanong ni Tito Hex.

"Nakipagbreak kahapon lang." naiiyak nitong sagot.

"Bro, magmove-on ka na." suhestiyon ni Tita Feure na parang madali lang. "Si bituin nga may anak na oh."

"Si Kuya Life din." dagdag ni Tita Lystra. "Nakamove-on na nga siya kay Ate Feyre at ikakasal na."

Napakunot ang noo ko. Feyre? Another word for Feure, I guess? O baka ito ang ingame name nila? Minsan kasi namamali sila ng pagbanggit ng pangalan o namimix na nila.

"The cat's easy to move on from." tugon ni Tito Astro.

Ngumisi si Tita Feure. "Oh, paano mo nasabi? Natry mo na bang magmove-on sa'kin ha?"

Before Tito Astro could counter, pumalakpak si Mama at tatawa-tawang lumapit sa kanila.

"Tama na nga 'yan. You guys argue like we're back in our twenties. May mga anak na tayo." she gestures toward the dining area. "Kumain na muna tayo."

Mangha akong nakanood sa pagsunod ng mga kaibigan ni Mama. The arguments stopped and the small tension breaks. It amazes me how Mama can lead all of them with ease, how her every word is meant for everyone to hear and how each of her order is something they treasure.

"Soleis." napalingon ako kay Papa nang tawagin niya ang pangalan ko. "Why don't you change for now? Maglaro ka with the other kids. As always, ang rule ha?"

Tumango ako. Papa enters the dining area and it closes. For some unknown reason, the dining area is only reserved to Mama and her friends every reunion. At hindi kami pwedeng pumasok dito unless they get out first and allow us. May separate foods naman for us.

Kaya every reunion where each of them brings their kids, if their partner allows, kami-kami din ang nakikipaglaro o nagkukuwentuhan. Kumunot ang noo ko nang makitang sina Ryker lang ang nasa sala. Melissa and Sanya are playing with Penelope.

I headed to my room. Ngunit natigilan ako nang may marinig na ingay mula sa library. I softly opened the door and frowned when I saw Arthur in there, together with Vys, Risu, Felicity, Forrest, Asveal and Chastity.

"Anong ginagawa niyo dito?"

Napabaling silang lahat sa'kin. Arthur gestures for me to come closer kaya umupo ako sa tabi niya. VR headgears lay on the floor, walo lahat ito, at may box na nasa gitna. Curious, kinuha ko ito.

"Arth Online?" malakas kong tanong.

"It seems like a game that was launched 17 or 18 years ago?" hindi siguradong sagot ni Asveal.

I raised a brow at the '99% reallike' na nakalagay sa ilalim ng pangalan. It offers 99% of pain, hunger and exhaustion na mararamdaman rin sa totoong buhay. Inikot ko ang box at sa likod nito ay ang instructions sa game at description. A vrmmorpg game that promises real-life features and dwells in between the medieval and present times.

"Do you want to be the king of Arth?" malakas na pagbasa ni Felicity sa description. "Welcome to Arth Online. The crown is waiting for you at the throne."

"Bakit kaya may ganitong game si Tito na tinatago dito sa library?" Forrest wonders out loud.

Ini-angat ko ang tingin. Nagtitigan kami ni Arthur at hindi nakaalis sa mata ko ang pasimple niyang pagkurot niya sa tagiliran ni Forrest.

"Saan mo 'to nakuha?" I asked.

Arthur averts his gaze. He's guilty. "Sa Archives."

"Hindi tayo pwedeng pumasok doon!" singhal ko sa kaniya.

"I know! I didn't, alright? Nagulat ako kasi may narinig akong ingay kaya chineck ko. Tapos nahulog pala 'yong shelf. Nang tingnan ko nakita ko 'tong game."

"Kaya kinuha mo?"

Arthur looks at me, horrified. "Don't tell Mama! Ibabalik ko na lang."

"Boring." nguso ni Forrest.

Sinamaan ko siya ng tingin.

"Whatever. You're such a killjoy, Soleis." tugon ni Chastity.

Nagulat kaming lahat nang bigla niyang kunin ang isa sa mga headgears at isinuot. Kukunin na sana namin but the gear lights in red, meaning nakapasok na siya. It would be dangerous if we tried to get her out now.

"Well~ See you!"

Mabilis na isinuot din ni Forrest ang sa kaniya. I sighed. Why are they such headaches?

Risu looks at me. "So...?"

"Fine." I sighed. "But we have to get out before Mama catches us."

"Sige ba!"

Pinanonood ko lang silang isuot ang gear. Arthur waits for me, though. Vys glances at me before he fully puts on his gear. Itinaas niya ang kilay na parang nagtatanong. Tumango ako.

"Sabay tayo, bal?" tanong niya sa'kin.

Arthur takes hold of my hand. I inhaled deeply and took one of the gears. I haven't played a game in years. Tinamad kasi ako.

"Alright." sagot ko sa kaniya. "One... two... three..."

Darkness then welcomes me. Nang umikot ako ay nakaharap ko ang isang lalaking NPC. Nakaupo siya sa isang floating chair na hugis egg. Golden hair and golden eyes. Saglit akong natulala dahil sa pagka-ethereal niya.

"Oh?" even his voice is attractive. Tumalon siya mula sa inuupuan. "What do we have here? A player? I haven't seen one in ages!"

So this game is really old. Pero paano pa rin ito gumagana.

"What is this game?"

"Wait-" inignora niya ako. "Your beauty reminds me of that certain slayer who took the game like storm. Destroyed it. Figuratively and literally."

"Okay." walang-interes kong sagot. "Anyway, how is this game still working?"

"Hm."

Nagtitigan kami ng ilang minuto. It felt so long that even I became a bit uncomfortable. Binawi niya ang tingin.

"Do you want to play the game?"

Sumimangot ako. "Ha? Sandali, I wanted to ask you about this game. Dahil kung suspicious lang din naman, I will log out."

"Sorry! There's no log out button." he turns his back and walks back to his chair.

"What do you mean there's no log out button? This is a game. There's supposed to be one!" I exclaimed.

Mula sa kung saan ay may lumabas na coconut juice at sinimulan niya itong inumin. He stares at me with boredom.

"I know. Pero hindi ka makakalog out unless you reach Level 25."

I scoffed. "What stupid rule is that?!"

Nagkibit-balikat siya. "So?"

"May choice pa ba ako?"

He smirks and jumps down from his chair, again. Mula sa kung saan ulit ay may hinatak siyang upuan at prenteng umupo doon.

"That's right. Okay, so... You can't change your gender. It's a stupid rule. Kung babae ka dito, babae ka din do'n. But, good news, you can make changes to your appearance. Say your height, hair color or stuff. First, do you wanna be a fairy, a large beast or a human?"

He waves his hand on the air. Biglang may lumabas na tatlong ako sa harap. Ang isa ay maliit at may pakpak, wearing flower crowns and dress. Ngumiwi ako. The third one is a large me with beastly muscles at may hawak na axe. I look gross.

"Human."

"What an exciting answer." he dryly says. Umirap ako. "Dahil sa boring ka, fucking hell, this is why I hate being an NPC-"

Kumunot ang noo ko. Ano ba pinagsasabi nito? "Are you really an NPC?" tanong ko. "You're behaving like a human."

"You'll be surprised at the secrets of this game."

Okayy?

"Because she's an elf, let me make you one too-"

I frowned. She? Who is that she?

"Let's make your hair as golden as mine because I rock. Azure eyes that will make everyone kneel before you-"

"Sandali! Sandali lang ha!" pigil ko sa kaniya. "Hindi ba't dapat ako ang pumili sa character design ko-"

"Okay! We're done here. Don't you look enchanting?"

Natulala ako sa akong nasa harap. It's not the purely ethereal look, but one that screams enchantingly feral. One that is as vicious as a snake but still posses the beauty of a queen. Ang ganda niya...

"Perfect! Now," he pulled up symbols of the different classes. "Pick a class."

I hesitated for a few moments before reaching out to touch the fighter one-

"Huwag!"

"Ay fuck!" napatalon ako dahil sa biglaang pagsigaw niya. I glared at him. "What?!"

"Susundin mo ba talaga ang yapak niya?"

"Sinong niya ba ang tinutukoy mo?!" I screamed at him, frustrated.

"Oh kalma," he taps the arrow symbol. "Ito na lang."

Isang mabigat na hininga ang pinakawalan ko. "Ano, ikaw na lang maglalaro?"

"Shh." he placed a finger over his mouth. "I'm finalizing your character."

"Yes. Huwag mo na akong tanungin for inputs." I sarcastically commented. "Para namang ako ang maglalaro, 'di ba."

"You're noisy. Anyway, name? Oh, ayan na ang chance mo to help."

"Lealis." (Le-ya-lis)

"Okay, Leis. Lemme just call you that, anhaba ng name mo. You're done here now." he snaps his finger. "See you, player."

All of a sudden, nagwarp ang tinatapakan ko at nahulog ako. Napakabilis ng transitions at paghulog ko. Lumabas ang character ko sa harapan at nagmerge ito sa'kin. Humaba ang tainga ko at gano'n din ang buhok na napalitan ng kulay na malapale gold. Ipinikit ko ang mata nang bumagsak ako sa lupa.

Napadaing ako. Dahan-dahan kong iminulat ang mata at napatingin sa paligid. My eyes widened at the beauty this world has. Nasa daanan ako na katabi ng cliff. Beyond me, the seas stretched. Above me, the forest whispers it's greetings. Sa sobrang ganda ay hindi ko mapigilan ang mapangiti.

I stopped looking around and face forward, only to jump back and scream when the dude from the character customization appeared in front of me!

"What the fuck!?" singhal ko sa kaniya.

"I said see you in game."

"Hindi na ganito!"

Nagulat ako nang may mabangga ako sa likod. I frowned and look back, only to see a male with similar features as me.

"Arthur?!"

"Weird." sambit ng lalaki sa likod ko.

Arthur grimaces or smiles and plays with his white locks. "Bal?"

Laglag panga akong napatingin sa kabuuan niya. May kulay itim na kasali ang puti niyang buhok. His eyes are crystal blue, a lighter hue from mine. Ang pinagkaiba lang namin ay wala siyang elf ears.

Arthur looks at the man behind me. He frowns. "Sino siya?"

I ignored him. "Nakita mo ba ang ibang kasama natin?"

My question is answered when a shout is heard from above. Nang i-angat ko ang tingin ay nakita ko ang isang babaeng nakasuot ng green na robe. Her brown hair is long and braided. Her orange eyes lits up in joy when she sees me. Si Felicity?

"Leis! Halika! Nakita na namin ang town!"

Nagpalit kami ni Arthur ng tinginan bago sumunod. The NPC guy follows us too. Pasulyap-sulyap nga si Arthur sa kaniya at puno ng suspisyon ang mata ng kakambal ko.

We eventually arrived at the spot where the other six are resting. Kumunot ang noo ko, "Isa lang ba ang drop-off spot natin?"

"Since konti lang naman ang players at miracle na may bagong pumasok, we dropped you off at the same place." sagot ng lalaking hindi ko naman tinanong.

Sinipat siya ni Vys at Forrest. "Sino 'yan?" sabay nilang tanong.

"Someone." I answered, before glaring at the man. "Eh bakit nandoon ako sa ilalim?"

"Nandoon din naman kambal mo." bagot niyang tugon.

"Guys!" biglang tawag ni Risu kaya napatingin kami sa kaniya. "I think a parade is happening."

Natigilan kami sa sinabi niya. Kuryoso kaming lumapit sa gilid ng gubat at tumingin sa labas. The town is filled with people and now a parade is happening. My eyes widened at the two huge beast that made the entrance.

"Let me tell you a story."

Napabaling ako sa lalaki. "Ha? Tungkol sa kanila?"

He nodded and smiled. "This is a tale that will never end."

Sumunod sa dalawang beast ang isang magic carpet. Nakasakay doon ang tatlong babae. Oddly, they're dancing and singing to a song? Para silang mga baliw.

Sa likod ng flying carpet ay isang taong napakalaki ng armor. Katabi niya ang isang babaeng may pink na buhok at may hawak-hawak na sniper gun. Following them is a mage... I think? Nakasuot kasi ito ng robe at may fox ears and tail.

Then just at the end of the parade is a magnificent pair. A lone man walks beside a large lion. Nakasuot ito ng isang itim na yukata at nakatali ang mahaba nitong buhok. Ang bawat tingin ng lalaki ay sapat na para makapatay ng tao. A fox in dark and blue hues folloes his pace.

Malaki ang lion at napakapowerful ng aura. Ngunit ang nagpalaglag ng panga ko ay ang taong nakasakay sa leon. Nakasuot siya ng silver na battle armor. A white and blue coat is draped.
