Mom: *telling me the price of a shirt* Ten...ten...

Me: Diez dólares.

Mom: Diez dólares.

Me: ¡Es carro! Ocho dólares. [That is high! Eight dollars.]

Mom: *holding up an imaginary shirt* How do you say, "You can get half of this shirt for eight dollars?!"

Me: BE AGREEABLE.

Mom: *sighs* Eight dóla - dóla - what?

Me: OCHO.

Mom: What did I say?

Me: Eight.

Mom: ...oh.

Me: Tengo tarjeta de crédito. [I have a credit card.]

Mom: Your money's no good here!

Me: *throws an imaginary credit card in her face*
