We walk about four miles in the scorching heat before we reach the town park which has a hiking trail. Fortunately, the trail is like ninety six percent shaded.

"Kae, look!" Colton says, "I'm an old man." He imitates by crouching while leaning on his stick he found.

"That's awesome, Colt!" She says, "you wanna show Bri?"

He shows me his "old man cane" and I tell him it's weird.

"How is it weird?" He asks me.

"Oh, I don't know. Never mind." I reply.

A couple of hours later, we're all sitting at the dining room table eating dinner, when someone knocks at the front door.

"I'll get it." I say at the same time as Kaelee and our older brother, Levi. The three of us get up, leaving Mom, Dad, and Colton at the table.

Levi opens the door and Shawn Ross is standing there.

Shawn Ross is friends with anybody and everybody -except us, the Easton family. Mom hates Shawn's mom, Dee, ever since they were in high school.

His eyes widen when he sees us standing here giving him icey cold glares. "I'm sorry. I must be at the wrong house."

None of us say a word to him. He's still standing at the door when we close it, and when it's halfway shut, I say "he's weird."

He pushes the door back open. "What did you just call me?"
