W7 Creative: Out of Habit (Closed)
This week, we're presenting you with the option to write creatively or formally (or both!).
For your creative prompt, 'Out of Habit' asks you to take one of the below prompts that could very easily become cliché, and make something different and unexpected from it. The idea is to subvert any cliche and get as far out of habit as you possibly can.
We've tried to come up with a variation of prompts to cover different genres, and we're very excited to see how you break all genre conventions. Your prompts are:
- A werewolf/vampire/witch and a werewolf/vampire/witch Hunter Team up to solve a series of suspicious murders that might expose the supernatural.
- Aliens are invading the earth, and now our MC is caught in a web of interplanetary politics and time machines.
- High-school politics go awry when all teachers suddenly vanish and the students have to figure out how to run the school and what sort of government regime they'd like to use.
- When going on a summer trip with friends, the car breaks down and the group is forced to take refuge in a near by abandoned house, but there's something wrong with the house.
- A man has been murdered and the best detective in the division is assigned to this perplexing case. However, everything seems to be progressing well until the key witness suspiciously disappears before they can reveal everything.
- When a small town teenager's father is kidnapped by a mysterious organisation in pursuit of an ancient mythical artefact, the hero must race them to the object and learn about the powers previously hidden from them all their life.
- Seen as a quiet, hard-working pupil, life gets turned upside-down when the edgy popular kid learns of a secret they would do anything to keep.
We would rather enjoy it if you could throw dragons in there somewhere.
Criteria:
The story should be based on the prompt (but we always welcome artistic interpretation).
There is no required word-count (but we hope to be sensible).
Make sure that your story isn't mature and follows all the Wattpad Content Guidelines.
To Enter:
In-line comment on this paragraph with the title of your story, the book it's in, and the link to the story.
Submissions must be stand-alone and not require further reading.
In your entry, you should mention W7 Creative: Out of Habit and tag @CommunityInteractive. This is how we make sure that we've found the correct page for the entry.
Submission closing date is 12 July 2020, and Results will be posted a week after Submissions close.
This is to ensure that we have sufficient entries before the judging period begins.
Prizes:
The three selected winners will receive a shout-out and a detailed review about why we liked their story.
Final Note:
We encourage you to read other submissions and interact with other entrants. We have a lovely community and would love for you to be a part of it.
If you have friends you think would like to participate, we'd appreciate you letting them know about us.
We wish you well, and hope to see your entries soon!
-The CommunityInteractive Team
