W1: The Day Before Yesterday (Closed)
This week we're doing a creative prompt. Write a piece inspired by the opening lines of The Brightonomicon by Robert Rankin as your set-up:
It was the day before yesterday.
And I was dead.
I confess that I found this circumstance somewhat dispiriting, for I had always been of the opinion that a long and prosperous life lay ahead of me.
If you'd like to challenge yourself, pick one additional prompt for a character and a sub-plot to work into your story.
Additional Character:
ALICE: Artificial Learning and Intelligent Character Emulator is an early AI prototype that doesn't quite understand how humans work yet.
Mika: A philosophy student, quick to ask questions, hesitant to answer any. When pushed to make decisions, Mika will often take the road less traveled, even if it's off the edge of a cliff.
Quinn: Quinn doesn't talk, but likes to be involved in things. Quinn doesn't listen, and loathes to be left out.
Sannan: A curious and frightening creature from another time altogether, Sannan doesn't quite know how it got here, what it's supposed to be doing, or how to get back to the eternal seas of limbo. It prefers to spend its days annoying its favourite human instead of struggling with questions of destiny and fate.
Regent: The ghost of a long-dead king haunts this poor man, screeching about betrayal, dethronement and a lost love. Regent is willing to do what it takes to get rid of the wailing royal.
Sub-Plot:
Matching: A mysterious key that doesn't have a lock must be put to use.
Discovery: Buried secrets must be dug up and aired out for a mysterious stranger.
The Climb: An impossible task must be completed to atone for transgressions against the gods.
Apprentice: Knowledge must be shared, despite the dangers of it.
Evasion: A team of murder-investigators must be avoided at all costs.
Growth: Differences must be overcome and friendships must be forged.
Peril: Knowing the future has its benefits, and its consequences.
Criteria:
This week is an open prompt with a slight challenge, so there is no specific criteria.
Just be sure to make sure your story isn't mature, and follows all of Wattpad's content guidelines.
To Enter:
In-line comment on this paragraph with the title of your story, the book it's in, and the link to the story.
Submissions must be stand-alone and not require further reading.

Submission Closing Date will be announced one week in advance, and Results will be posted a week after Submissions close.
This is to ensure that we have sufficient entries before the judging period begins.
