Chapter 5

Third Person POV:

"Hey, kid."

"H-hey, Mr Stark! What's going on?"

"I'm gonna need you to come in, I've got something I need your help with."

"Really?! So it's kind of like a mission?!"

"Much less of a mission than it is to put a tracking device on Widow. Just get over here, Webs. I can't do this one without you."

"What wouldn't you be able to do that I can?! You can do everything!"

"I wish. Let's just hope you know your partners."

Carmen's POV:

"Hey, I've gotta go, Mr Stark called," Peter says, putting his phone back in his pocket. "He says he's got something he needs me to do that he can't do without me."

"Ooh, look at you," I tease. "Already getting a call from the big leagues. Go on, go say hi to your boss."

Waving, Peter walks out, a spring in his step. Before he can shut the door, however, I notice something and frown.

"Did you also just see Flash out there?" Ned asks. I sigh and nod. "Give me a second, I'll make sure Peter doesn't get killed before he makes it to Stark."

I open the door to see Peter backing up into the wall, Flash only getting closer and closer to him. "So what are you paying her, then? Because I know a pretty girl would never hang around a dork like you, Penis Parker."

"So you think I'm pretty?" I remark, earning Flash's attention. He turns on a quick smile, covering up his true self. I honestly don't know why he's popular, he's not cute, smart, kind or funny. I think it's probably the car.

"You okay, Peter?" I ask my friend. "I'm fine, Carmen, just get out of here," he says, though his voice alone is proof enough that he's far from fine. He's actually kinda scared of Flash despite everything.

"So your name's Carmen?" Flash smirks, coming over to me. "It might be," I nod, deciding to play the tactic that I call 'damsel is distress'. "Anything I can help you with?" I ask, biting my lip as I bat my eyelashes at him innocently.

Of course, being the stereotypical douchebag he is, he takes the bait.

The moment he wraps his arm around me, I grab it and twist it harshly, though I make sure to keep myself in check and not break it or anything that a normal teenage girl wouldn't be able to do. He yowls in pain like a drowning cat, making me flinch at the sound. "Dude, that's right in my ear."

"You're... strong..." he remarks in a tone resembling a kicked puppy, rubbing his poor arm when I let go of it. "Do you work out?"

"You don't get this body by lazing around eating pizzas all night," I shrug. Truth is, I really could. Last night was proof.

"Peter, you go get to that little business meeting of yours, I'll finish up here," I tell Peter. "Uh... okay... thanks, Carmen..." he nods, then leaves quickly.

"Why do you even hang around with Penis Parker, anyway?" Flash grunted, still clutching his arm. What a wuss. Yeah, it'll hurt, but I didn't even dislocate it, let alone break it.

"Because I enjoy the company of nice people who are actually worth my time, not jerks like you," I answer his question in a clipped tone, then I push him to the opposite wall. "Bother Peter again and I'll be back for you. I know you won't be used to hearing that a girl would come for you, but trust me, it's not a good idea to get on my bad side."

With that, I simply head back into the computer lab without another word.

"Carmen, that was awesome!" Ned said when the door closed. "I can't believe you stood up to Flash!"

"Someone's gotta cut down that nasty little ego of his," I shrug. "He's all talk, you don't have to worry about him."

"You're amazing!" Ned grins. Clearly Flash is a huge problem to him and Peter. Hm... guess I'll have to keep that moron in check. "Nah, just not gonna take any BS," I shrug.

After a moment of silence while I watch Ned's face change from awe to curiosity, he asks a question that I have no clue how to answer.

"Hey, do you lay eggs?"

Third Person POV:

"Oh, you're here. Good."

Peter looked up at Tony when he came over. "Hey, Mr Stark! What's going on?" He asked, completely in awe of his idol as usual.

"Come with me, I need you to help us figure something out," was all Tony said before he started walking. "Did you say us?" Peter asked, having to almost jog to keep up with Tony, though he was never given a response.

Peter was shocked when he was lead into what appeared to be a meeting room, all of the Avengers sat there.

Several heads turned to face him as he entered. Most of them he recognised from Germany, though there were four that he hadn't met in person before.

Feeling a little awkward upon seeing the Avengers that he'd fought against a while back, he turned a bit red, though the only one appearing to hold any resemblance of a grudge was Falcon, who was frowning with furrowed brows at Peter.

"Put on your suit."

Everyone looked at one of the few people that Peter didn't know well, though he did recognise her from the news. "Uh... w-what?" He asked, confused.

"You feel out of place as everyone except you is in their 'suit'. You may go change quickly if you wish."

Before Peter could stammer anything, Tony pressed something metallic against his back. It started encasing him head to toe, then when he looked down at himself, he gasped to see he was wearing the Iron Spider suit that Tony had built for him.

"There, that saves a bit of time," Tony said, taking a seat. He gestured to the seat beside him and Peter eagerly sat down, petting his mask disappear from his face. He opened his mouth to thank Tony, but his mentor simply held up a hand.

"You're not keeping it, I've been making a few tweaks and the web shooter functions are pretty catastrophic right now. Don't try it out. Now don't say anything stupid and take a look at this."
