Chapter 1- The Art Of Captivity

(A/N) Read the book's description before reading on otherwise you won't understand a word of the story! I put a lot of thought and time into that description...

{Weaver's POV}

Weaver: So... Where should I begin?

???: Just tell us everything... We won't judge you.

Other ???: Yes! If we're going to let you roam free, we need you to trust us. Otherwise we could just return you back to-

Weaver: No, no... *sighs* Okay. It all began thirteen years ago...

I pulled an audio recorder out of my coat pocket and rewound the tape inside. After about five minutes, I pressed play.

Day 189603

It feels as if my test subjects have been gone an eternity, though it was merely two years ago. But ever since three weeks ago, I have been feeling the strong urge to test again. I must settle my addiction once and for all... But how? I have no other subjects, and only a small bit of usable Determination left. I still have that surplus of corrupted Determination, but it's too dangerous to work with. Sans... Papyrus... I suppose they were like sons to me in a way. I created them and raised them as my own. I'm beginning to regret how I treated them. Wait... Sans and Papyrus... I could create one more... One that will never escape. I will learn from my mistakes and this one will be here forever... But I can't do this floating around in the void. I must create a new lab... I have always admired the architectural design of the ruins so maybe I'll create my own ruins. Yes, this will work. Well, I had best get started. A lab isn't going to create itself...

Day 189892

It is finally complete. My new lab, my new home, my new start. All I need are some supplies and then I can get right to the fun part... Creating the perfect subject. I've already made some choices I will stick with for sure. Such as the gender, height, size... Name... I even planned to give them a special trait. I'm not sure what it will be, however. It was random for Sans and Papyrus, Sans being his protective nature for those he loved, and Papyrus his kindness and optimism. The only price for special traits is corrupted Determination. I have no idea how it works, but I'm glad to get rid of it. Corrupted Determination has no purpose and if handled incorrectly, it can cause massive destruction. Maybe my new subject's trait will be great caution, and they can handle it for me. A man can only dream...

Day 190341

I have completed the procedure, and my new subject has been created. I wasn't sure if it was going to work at first, creating a female skeleton, but it seemed to be easier and quicker than creating two males. Her name is W3A43R. I've taught her the basics of life; how to walk, pick up objects, and activate. Her Determination is a teal color. She's apparently even taught herself to use actual words. Say hello to the recorder, child...

'Hawwo...'

Now that I think about it, I do suppose she is technically Sans' and Papyrus' little sister. Perhaps once she is old enough, I will take her to "visit" them when I get the chance. Heheheh... Or... On second thought, it may be for the best to keep them away from her as best I can. If she finds out there are others like her that escaped... It might give her ideas. I still am unaware of her trait, but for Sans, it didn't appear until he was 5, when I first introduced him to his brother. Papyrus, on the other hand, he had been optimistic his entire life... It's time for more testing. Come, now, child... Let's go to your chamber...

Gaster turned off the recorder and set it down on his desk. Twirling around in his spinny chair with W3A43R in his lap. He set her on the ground and grabbed his lab coat, slipping it on silently. Gaster began buttoning up his coat and saw the fragile skeleton child standing up to walk to him.

Gaster: Hmm? What is it?

W3A43R: Up! Up!

Gaster: Up? Child, now's not the time to play. It's time to go to your chamber.

Gaster held his bony hand out to the child and she took it gratefully. He then led her to her captivity chamber.

Gaster: You know the drill.

W3A43R nodded enthusiastically and ran into her chamber. She closed the door and sat down in the middle of the dark purple room. After a moment of just sitting there, W3A43R began to get bored. Suddenly, a voice emitted out of the small speaker in the corner of her chamber.

Gaster: Child, I need to step out for a moment. Please behave. I will unlock your chamber for now. Don't touch anything important, understand?

W3A43R nodded her head with great enthusiasm.

Gaster: Good.

The speaker cut out and W3A43R wobbly stood up. She heard the locks on her chamber door come undone with a soft series of clicks. She walked over and pushed it open. She wandered out into the lab and immediately ran for her "father's" spinny chair positioned justly at his desk. She pulled it out of it's original position and climbed up onto the cushioned seat. Swinging her body side to side, she eventually made the chair spin. When it stopped, W3A43R noticed Gaster's audio recorder on the desk. She picked it up, and examined it thoroughly in her small hands. She found a red button labeled "Record". She held it down and began to imitate Gaster and his audio entries.

W3A43R: Day numbur one two twee four fwive six sevem ate nine TEM! Today, I helped him make things muv wit my maaaaaaaaagik. He called it someting else, tho. Someting like

de-ter-na-mish-onion?

Oh! I also made wibbons! From da spidewr webz in da corner. It waz fun! I like making tings. Ima go make moar!

W3A43R ended the recording, and went to a corner covered in cobwebs. She carefully gathered the bunches and carried them to a bench. After carefully separating the delicate strands, the small skeleton child began weaving the strings together in a pattern she had not been taught.

Unknowingly, Gaster was observing her this whole time. Every day, he'd pretend to leave then just sit and watch her actions. His main goal at the moment was to find out what W3A43R's trait was. He'd been doing this for three weeks now and he's still not sure of what her trait is. But one thing in her daily routine stood out to him: the fact that she'd eventually make her way back to her chamber on her own to do something he could not see through the monitors. His curiosity got the better of him, and he went to check on the child.

He walked into the lab and saw W3A43R where he had last seen her: in her chamber. He walked in and saw the small child on the floor weaving the cobweb strands into thicker-ish strands.

Gaster: Child? What are you doing?

The small skeleton looked up at her "father" with big eyes.

W3A43R: Making wibbons! Pwetty ones!

Gaster: May I take a look?

W3A43R nodded and held her hand out to Gaster, showing him the delicately woven strands.

Gaster: This is quite the craftsmanship. Is this what you do everytime I leave?

W3A43R: Mhmm! Not done yet!!

Gaster crouched down in order to observe the child's skill in action. W3A43R continued weaving the strands together for a few more minutes and eventually ties it off at the end. By the time she had finished, the strand was a few yards long. She then hung it up around the chamber, adding it to the woven ropes she'd made prior to then.

Gaster: That's quite the talent you have there.

W3A43R: Not done yet!

She then used her magik to attach it to the wall with little, teal-colored, glowing beads that gave the strand the illusion as if it were sparkling.

Gaster: ... I've got it!

Day 190341

It has been a mere 2 hours since my last entry, but I have come across a new discovery with W3A43R. It turns out her trait is creativity. She's taught herself how to weave strands of cobweb together and decorated her captivity chamber with them... Weave... Hmm... I suppose it's time I give her a new name, one that doesn't take so much effort to say. One that doesn't include numbers. And I now know what will fit her perfectly... Weaver... Very cliché, I know. But it's short, sweet, and simple. Now that I think about it... I really should examine how my machine uses Corrupted Determination to create traits. Ah well, that will be useful for my next entry, I suppose.
