"Are you crazy? We have to tell them the truth." Nicole argued as the five girls stood beside a police car, each of them wrapped in blankets.

Blue and red lights covered the block along 32nd street while police and investigators scrambled throughout the crime scene. Two men wearing jackets, that read "Coroner," were carrying away someone in a body bag. The night was misty from rain that had fallen just a few hours ago.

"If we tell the truth we go to prison. Do you not understand that?" Carmella asked rather aggressively.

"She's right, we have to tell the truth." Rebecca added.

Carmella looked at the two girls and shook her head with frustration. Sasha was still in a state of shock as she stared blankly out at the crime scene tape. Alexa was moving her legs back and forth rather anxiously as she listened to what the others had the say.

"If the two of you want to tell the truth then go ahead. But you should know that I'm going to ruin you. If anyone every finds out what we did then I will bury you." Carmella warned them.

Rebecca and Nicole looked at Carmella with concern.

"What the hell is wrong with you?" Nicole asked as she attempted to stand up to Carmella.

"What's wrong with me? I am trying to protect us!" Carmella yelled in her face with desperation.

Rebecca examined Carmella for a moment, seeing in that moment that she was just as terrified as the others.

"She's right." The youngest of the group, Alexa, spoke up quietly.

The others looked at her in surprise, not sure if they heard her correctly. Alexa looked around at everyone with hesitance.

"They're not going to believe us if we tell them the truth." Alexa began to tell them.

Rebecca and Nicole thought over what Alexa was saying while Sasha continued to stay silent.

"We have to lie." Alexa said as she looked to Carmella.

Rebecca looked over at Sasha with an unsettling feeling in her stomach as she took notice of the few blood splatters on her face.

"If we want to survive then this is what we have to do. We have to protect ourselves." Carmella assured everyone.

Nicole still seemed a little reluctant to follow along with Carmella's plan.

"I'm in." Rebecca said with her eyes still on Sasha, knowing that this was the only was to protect her.

Sasha finally snapped back to reality and brought her eyes to Rebecca with caution. Nicole began to shake her head as Carmella stared at her with impatient eyes.

"If you're not with us.. then you're against us." Carmella warned her again.

Nicole and Carmella locked eyes for a moment, neither of them wanting to back down.

"Fine.. We lie." Nicole said with a hint of disapproval in her voice. The five women looked around at one another, knowing that after what happened that night, they're lives would never be the same. They would be forever connected by the events that unfolded on the night of August twenty first.
