I sighed heavily through my nose, and stared at the white ceiling. It was five days since I had been brought to the hospital, and three days since I found out that Itachi was dating somebody, both of which were weighing me down.

This hospital room was growing extremely dull... not that it was interesting before, but still. I wanted to go outside! But I wasn't allowed. Ugh.

There was a knock on the door, but I didn't bother to get up. "Come in."

The door slid open and a familiar figure made me sit up quickly. "I-Itachi!"

The happiness in my eyes dimmed as another person came through the door, with honey blonde hair and bright blue eyes. "And a friend..."

I folded my arms and eyed her suspiciously, but she just grinned, seemingly unaffected by my cold attitude.

"Kaoru-chan, this is-"

"Hey, I'm Haruhi! You must be Kaoru-san, huh? Nice to meet you! I'm Itachi's girlfriend!" so I was right.

This is what he rejected me for? Seriously? A dumb blonde who acted like some sort of crack-addicted cheerleader?!

My fingers tightened around my upper arm. I couldn't show Itachi how much this affected me. I couldn't appear weak in front of him. "Oh, okay. Nice to meet you too." I said stiffly, then winced and forced my voice softer, "Um, so, can I help you with something?"

She shrugged, and I noticed the way she clung to Itachi's arm and fought not to punch her. "Ita-kun just wanted to come see you for some reason. So I came too!"

I looked to Itachi with narrowed eyes. He avoided my gaze, looking extremely uncomfortable and kind of embarassed. My guess was that it was the 'Ita-kun' nickname... ugh...

It was official. Itachi's girlfriend... I hated her. She was too... perky and preppy, and from the way she acted, even if there were a thousand of her, they still wouldn't have a single brain cell between them.

But then again, I would hate her no matter what her personality.

Sigh... the workings of a jealous woman's mind...

As much as I wanted to screech at her "YOU SICKEN ME!! GET OUT!!", I soon couldn't, because something was blocking my airways. I started to cough, and soon couldn't stop it. I covered my mouth with my hand as the shuddering convulsions racked my body and rattled in my chest, and something wet spattered on my hand and on the bed sheets. Blood.

"Quick, Haruhi, get Kaoru-chan some water while I go get a doctor!" Itachi commanded, before running out of the room. Haruhi did as he said with a panicked expression, and I grabbed the glass of water from her and gulped it down greedily. When I looked up, still coughing every now and then, her expression had completely changed.

Her eyes, that had been alive with materialistic happiness before, were now cold, and hard with malice. A hateful sneer curled her expression, and she glared at me angrily. I scowled back at her.

"What-"

"Listen here, you bitch." she hissed, grabbing the front of my shirt. She was surprisingly strong. "I don't know what you mean to Ita-kun, or what you're planning, but I'm telling you, he's mine. He asked ME to be his girlfriend, not you, so back. Off. Or else."

"I never said I held any feelings for Itachi." I pointed out angrily, and she laughed in cold mockery.

"Ha! Don't try and fool me, I can see that you love him. It's obvious." she sneered, and some of the anger in my expression was replaced by shock.

"But how?!"

"Woman's intuition... not that you would know about that." she eyed my ANBU tattoo distastefully, and I glared at her. "But anyway, stay away from Itachi-kun... or you'll regret it."

Was she threatening me?!

She quickly lapsed back into her happy blonde persona as Itachi and a doctor entered the room. "Itachi-kun!"

I fought the grimace as she grabbed his arm again, and the doctor came and checked me over.

"Well, you seem fine." he said a while later, "It's probably just stress..." he turned to Itachi and Haruhi, "Uzumaki-san needs rest, so I'm going to have to ask you two to leave now."

"Oh, okay! Bye bye Kaoru-san!" Haruhi sang, skipping out and dragging Itachi with her. Itachi sent me a glance.

"Bye, Kaoru-chan." I sighed heavily.

"See ya."

-Hana's POV-

I growled to myself as I stomped to the hospital. Stupid Kiba!! That baka completely trashed my room!

He said he was playing a game with Akamaru, and "slid into my dresser". And that, of course, somehow knocked down my wardrobe and my desk, and then broke my bed as well! He's such a liar!

On my way, I noticed Itachi walking along with some blonde girl attached to his arm. I frowned in confusion, but grinned at him. "Hey, Itachi!"

He looked up at my call, then nodded, coming to a stop as I jogged over to him. "Hey, Hana."

I nodded my head in the blonde's direction. "Who's the girl?"

"I'm Haruhi, Itachi's girlfriend! Nice to meet you!" she chirped. I rose an eyebrow. Girlfriend...? It made me frown.

"Oh... well, nice to meet you too." I said, in a fake happy voice, but she seemed to buy it. I then nodded to Itachi. "Well, see ya at the next team meeting, Itachi. I'm going to see Kaoru at the hospital now. Bye."

Itachi just nodded, and they started on again, but not before, Haruhi sent me a harsh glare. I rose an eyebrow. Wow, attitude much? I shrugged it off, and continued on my way to the hospital.

When I arrived, Kaoru was awake, laying on her back with her eyes on her hands, which she was making shapes with above her head. I snickered at her, and she abruptly dropped her arms to her sides then used her elbow to prop herself up.

"Oh, hey Hana." I went and sat in the leather chair by her bed, and grinned at her.

"So, how goes it in the land of extreme boredom?" I asked, and she grimaced.

"Well, if you couldn't tell from the hand shapes, I am extremely bored." she sighed, and I chuckled.

"Well, good thing the entertainment has arrived, then!" I exclaimed, and she rolled her eyes, sitting up properly.

"You seem in high spirits." I nodded, my grin wide.

"I'm over that jerk Fiore. If he wants to be an ass and ditch the village, then I say let him." I said firmly, and she frowned at me, eyes soft.

"Mm." I frowned at her.

"What about you? Are you okay?"

"Not really." she brought her fuchsia eyes to meet mine, and I was stunned by the deep sadness in them. "You met her, didn't you?"

I blinked, but then realisation hit me. Oh my god. Itachi's girlfriend.

I always thought Kaoru and him would make a great couple, but I never realised... "You..."

"Love him? Yes." she sighed heavily, surprisingly mature about it, "But it's too late now. He's got someone else."

"She seems a right bitch." I said bluntly, and Kaoru laughed half-heartedly, "There's no way Itachi could go for a girl like her! You're way better! And not to mention, not as much of a ho..."

Kaoru just shrugged, trying to put on a brave face, but I could tell she was depressed. "Even if that is true, Itachi's made his choice, there's nothing I can do-"

"What do you mean, there's nothing you can do?! You can go after him and tell him how you feel, that's what you can do! Don't give up so easily!" she shook her head.

"He knows how I feel." I stared at her, wide-eyed, "The poison contained a hallucinogen, and made me go all crazy... and I kind of told him, then said "but don't tell Itachi, it's a secret"."

I just stared at her wordlessly. I was speechless, so she continued.

"But even so, he's going out with that blonde whore. So obviously he doesn't like me back."

I frowned. I ached to comfort her, end her sorrow, but what to say? There was nothing I could tell her that would be true and comfort her.

I'm very frustrated. It seems like no matter how hard I try, I can't make my chapters long enough. Sigh.

Oh well. Anyways, next chapter should be the final one! Unless Another idea hits me... but I doubt that will happen.
