Chapter 37

Third Person POV . . .

The sun was finally connected to the land, allowing a beautiful orange blanket to wrap itself around its landscape, and as the afternoon came, the loud chirping of the birds died down. Unluckly, the situation Jane, Byron, and Leo were caught up in was not anything of romantic. Nothing is romantic when you receive a pissed face from Gazel. Poor Leo, was sweating rapidly at his team-mate's intense gaze. Byron was simply trying to find a smart excuse to bust them put of the consequences. As for Jane, She was in the same frightened state as Leo, only she had her fingers crossed behind her back, hoping that they would not get punched in the face by a handful of spine-chilling insults.
" So what bring you here . . . Idiots?", the silver-haired boy asked coldly, hoping for a good explanation.
Byron was the first to reply, " We were just passing by."
Gazel was not satisfied by his answer. His eyes moved to the younger blonde, who was shivering anxiously. Leo quickly noticed the boy's frightening stare, and bursted, " Byron is lying! We saw you and Torch, so we decided to spy on you! I am so sorry!"
For a split second, Leo thought he'd could die, but instead he felt a cold, reassuring hand on his  shoulder. To the blonde's surprise, Gazel was actually smiling, which only made him look much more scary, since this was the first time the young teen had seen this side of his team-mate.
" Your smile is just scaring his soul out of his body," Jane mumbled, but Gazel was able to hear that loud, and clear.
He turned to the girl, with a death smile on his face. Jane swallowed nervously, and dashed across the field, knowing she asked for a death wish. Once she flew out of Gazel's sight, the silver-haired boy broke into a run, chasing after the teen girl, face red as a tomato, and eyes flickering with pure anger.
" Just you wait idiot!" he yelled after her, "I will get you!"
No matter how much Jane tried to increase her speed, Gazel was gaining on her swiftly. From the side-lines, Torch walked towards Byron and Leo, who stood watching their team-mates running around the field. The red-head simply stood next to them, and enjoyed the show as well, as he happily, licked his small lollipop. It did not take long until Gazel finally pounced at Jane, and pinned her wrists to the ground. Both gasped for air, and sweat dropped from their chins like soaked sponges.
" Your big idiot," the teen boy hissed, while gasping. His eyes were half-way open, and his messy hair dropped down on his face. Jane did not have the energy to argue. Her eyes closed, and her stiff muscles eased. A soft breeze blew by, but this time she felt comfortable, not scared, nor unsure. Fatigue overtook Gazel. He loosened his grip from her wrist, and laid down next to her on the soft, green grass.
" I will let you slip only this time", he warned her.

Staring at the afternoon sky, the teen boy sighed in relief. The sight was glorious, the white clouds looked like large, balls of cotton candy floating, and the sound of crickets filled the air.
" Too bad I won't be staying here any longer," Jane mumbled.
She finally opened her hazel eyes, and gazed at the sky as well. It did not take long until Leo and the other two boys joined him.
" I am guessing you were unable to beat up your lover eh?" Torch teased Gazel, while throwing himself next to his team-mate.
" I should have guessed you would never get over my tail", the silver-haired male replied, elbowing the idiot in the ribs.
The hole group laughed, and giggled, but that was not enough to ease Gazel's uncertain feeling.
" I am just glad we got spared from dying in hell", Leo said, with a wide grin plastered on his face.
"Stupied," Gazel whispered, " and childish."
The rest of the afternoon went well, there was not a single gloomy moment. Soon, it time for everyone to head back to their rooms. Leo, Byron and Torch volunteered to stay, and practice for a while. Jane and Gazel did not argue the slightest, and left without another word.

The hallways were dimly lit by the afternoon light, but the atmosphere between the two team-mates was awfully silent. Before Jane knew it, they had reached their rooms, and she felt a small pain in her stomach.
" Oyasamai nasai [Goodnight]," once the words escaped Gazel's lips, Jane tugged his sleeve angerly.
He was hiding something, and he was not telling her.
" Explain", she ordered.
The boy was surprised at first, but slowly replaced it with a weak smile, and replied, " . . . .Hai"
