Chapter 21

Jane's POV . . .

The next day things went back to normal, but just as I suspected , Gazel went to the hospital or his surgery accompanied by Coach Lee. Torch and Leo kept trying to cheer me up, which helped me catch a small smile, but worry was still wondering in my mind. The alias rock was no longer in my hands, and I had no idea why I was nervous, either it was my mind desiring power, or if had to do with Gazel's absence.
" Jane, your falling behind!", Belletrix shouted at me from the side-lines. I looked ahead of me, and noticed everyone was ahead of me. Right now, the hole team was running laps around the field, something of the normal routine. I increased my speed, and caught up with the others, brushing my worries aside, and focuesed on my training.
" Still worried about lover boy?", Byron teased, as he jogged by my side. I mumbled a small insult under my breath, before ignoring him, and jogging ahead to the front line.
" Jane!Your seem a bit down? How about we go out today?", Torch asked, ice I caught up with him. He was like this since the morning, always keeping me company, and cheering me up, even though he rejected apologizing to Gazel.
" Yeah, sure! That will be fun", I replied, with a bright, toothy smile. The red-head, seemed satisfied with my answer, and we 'high-fived'.
" Stop flirting! Both of you!", Belletrix shouted, while pointing an accusing finger at me and Torch, with steam puffing from her ears like a bull.
"Yes!", we both answered in union, and boosted our speed, causing drops of salty sweat to trinkle down our foreheads. The manager sighed in disappointment, and looked at her watch with a concerned expression, and mumbled, " That cold-hearted idiot sure is taking long".

Third Person POV . . .

Gazel sat on the silk bed, and waited patiently for his coach, and docter to return. The examination room was not as scary as the ones in horrer movies, but the sight of surgery tools spread on the table, which was located at the corner of the room, gave him a sense of danger around him. He took off his shirt and traced the major scar on his chest, with a heavy sigh escaping his lips.
" I will have to bear it a little longer", I mumbled to himself, allowing Jane's face to pop up in his mind. Comfort never came to him last night, and it took him a while to get some sleep. His mind always wondered to the bright girl he worried for secretly. He feared showing his concern will just ruin him, and cause others to see him as a weakling.
The boy's thoughts were cut off by the squeaking of the door.
" Ah it's just you coach", he said in relief, and smiled in satisfaction.
" Your wound will need a surgery to make sure it won't open again, but the good thing is that it won't take more that a few weeks to heal completely", the young man said, while handing the boy a few pain-killer pills, and a bottle of clear water. Gazel took them greatfully, and shoved them into his mouth, before taking several sips of water.
" You know, I was glad you kept those bandages on when we went to the pool the other day, the last thing we needed was  everyone worrying", coach Lee added, scratching the back of head, feeling exhausted from all the weird things that have been happening  recently. Gazel was extremely quiet, and was starring at the marble ground with a heavy heart.
" Anyway, only two days are left, until our next game", the coach said, trying to lighten up the cold-hearted boy.
"Yeah~, one more day", Gazel mumbled in a lifeless voice, before slipping back into his red shirt.
" The surgery will start in a few more minutes, so I will to go and check on the team. I will be back to pick you up once your done", coach Lee said, pulling his phone out of his pocket to check the time, before walking out of the room. It was silent again, and Gazel felt really stressed , as if his heart could explode any second. He was not scared of the surgery, nor of Jane joining Ray Dark. Infact, he was angry with himself, because he was unable to sort his emotions, even though the alias project was shutdown about a month ago.
" Damn it! Stupid feelings which never make sense!", the teen boy cursed, as he grintted his teeth angerly, with his hands forming fists. The entrance door opened, and the docter walked into the room, with several nurses behind him.
" It's time sir Whithingale ", he said, walking towards the silver-haired boy, with a small needle in his hand. The teen boy laid down on the bed, prepared for the unbearable pain. A bright light blinded his view, and the docter's silhouette was the only thing to be seen.

Back at the green field, the ' Fire Dragons' had just finished another hard practice, and had finally allowed their greed for water to take over. Jane sat under the cheery blossom tree, and sipped down her drink from her water bottle. She felt a bit down that the huge tree had not bloomed yet, and patted its trunk in reassurance.
" Spring is coming, and soon you will bloom", she whispered, as she rested her back against the tree's trunk.
" Jane~!",  the girl snapped out of her gaze once she heard her cheerful friend calling, it was Torch, and he was accompanied by Leo, who was smiling from ear to ear.
" Hey you took long!", she teased, waving her hand to the two boys.
" Ha ha ha ", Torch replied sarcastically, and crossed his arms across his chest.
Jane and Leo giggled at Torch's grouchiness, but calmed down after a few minutes.
" Alright alright, that's enough from teasing him Jane. He already has a bad temper", Leo warned, patting the red-head's shoulder in a supportive manner, and gave Jane a quick wink. Torch noticed that quickly, and lost his nerves.
" Oi! Who gave you permission to flirt!", he yelled, pouncing at the blonde, with his eyes flaring with anger. Jane quickly pulled the low tempered boy, away from Leo, who was struggling to get away from him.
" Torch chill! You can't lose your mind now!", Jane shouted tugging the boy's shirt, but her words reached deaf ears. Jane cheeks puffed red, and she jumped on the red-head's back, wrapped her hands around his neck, causing him to lose his his balance, and stumble sideways. Both friends fell on the floor, and once Jane opened her eyes, they were met with sun-like eyes .
"U-um . . .", Jane's face was red, but she was still unable to break her gaze. Leo slyly raised his phone, and took a picture of them both, before shoving his phone back into the pocket of his shorts.
' Gazel is going to be so pissed', Leo thought as he watched his two friends stare at each other awkwardly.
