Chapter Three
Annabella walked home that day with a smile on her face. Not only did she get some helpful feedback on her writing, but she also had a good time with Jughead. Even if they only spent a little bit of time together. She approached her house and noticed Kevin's car in front of her house and picked up her pace to meet him. Once she walked into the house she ran up her stairs and was greeted by Kevin sitting on her bed looking through a photo album of the two of them.
Kevin looks up at her with a smile before saying, "We used to be so cute."
Annabella smiled back at him before sitting down next to him on the bed and leaning against his shoulder. Kevin leaned his head against hers.
"Yes we were."
The two of them continued to flip through the pages before Kevin spoke up again.
"You know my parents always said that we were going to date one day."
Annabella felt her heart pang as her feelings came up fresh. She always hoped that they would date one day. She was glad that her best friend was happy and had discovered who he was, but she sometimes still wished that things could've worked out between the two of them.
"Did they really?" She said. She knew they wanted the two of them to date. His mom would always tell her how cute they were together. His dad had even once commented to her that he was shocked that Kevin was gay, considering how close Kevin and Annabelle were.
"Yeah, they did." Kevin said, he had a smile on his face. "I'm glad we've stayed best friends, though. And now we can talk about boys rather than kissing each other and as pretty as we both are, I don't really want to kiss you."
Annabella laughed. "I get it Kev. I'm not necessarily your type."
"And I am not yours."
That's a lie Kevin, but whatever you want to think.
"Because your type, my dearest," Kevin said, booping her nose, "is tall, dark, and broody."
Annabella rolled her eyes.
"I wouldn't say it that way necessarily."
"Well, how would you say it?"
Annabella paused. "Well... smart and handsome for sure."
Do I think Jughead Jones is handsome? I think so yes. I mean, he is. Denying that would be a lie. So yes I think he is handsome.
Kevin laughed. "Okay. I forgot you're absolutely, positively in love with him!"
"I am not!"
"There's no point in denying your true feelings Bells. I already can see it in your eyes. And before you try to my lovely, we should start our homework or we are never going to get anything done."
"Okay, okay, fine."
-----------------------------------------------
Annabella walked into school the next day determined. She was going to go out with Jughead again. But this time, it was going to be a date. She didn't care if it felt a little rushed, she wanted to get over Kevin now. She was sick of these feelings and she was going to get over them in any way she could. She saw Jughead as she walked through the doors by his locker and they locked eyes. For a moment, she could've sworn that she felt butterflies. He smiled at her and she snapped out of her daze for a moment and walked up to him.
"Hey Jughead!"
"Hey Anna. You alright? You seemed a little preoccupied over there." He said, slightly laughing.
Annabella flushed, but decided she'd be forward rather than playing it off.
"Well, Mr. Jones. I must admit. I was a little taken aback by how good you look today."
Now it was Jughead's turn to be flustered. "Um. Thank you?"
"Of course!" Annabella smiled. "At a risk of being forward, would you like to go to a movie with me today? Or sometime soon? I really liked hanging out with you yesterday and I thought if we did a movie we could make a date out of it."
Jughead was definitely shocked by how forward she was being, but he decided to go along with it. "I'd really like that. We could just walk to the theatre after school if you want?"
"I'd love that Jug!"
"Okay then. I'll see you after school."
Annabella smiled at him once more and said, "See you!" Then she strutted over to her locker.
Bullseye baby!
As she grabbed her stuff and walked to class, she tried to push down the butterflies she felt as she once again crossed paths with Jughead. It was nothing, right?
