Chapter Thirty-Three

Soap moved up to the next door and pushed it open with Grimes and Price behind him. But just as he opened the door, a shot was fired at Soap, causing him to swear, duck and return fire. Luckily his aim was far better than the enemy's. Soap continued taking the lead, Grimes on his shoulder and Price on hers, as they made their way through the next server room.

"Clear!" Grimes yelled out as she reloaded her weapon once more.

"Negative on Hassan," Soap called back, confirming they still had no eyes on him.

"All stations, Negative on target, moving to control room, now." Price called down the comms as he stood next to Grimes.

"Flashes left," Grimes muttered as she reached into the box and pulled out two flash-bangs. As if they had been left out for them. They stacked up at the door with Grimes on Soap's shoulder and Price on the other side.

" Control room isn't far." Price muttered to them as Soap reached forwards and took the handle. "Move." Price instructed, and Soap pushed the door open.

Grimes pulled the pin in a flash and went into the room behind the door. They waited for the bangs before they rushed in, shooting down the enemies inside. It was a lot easier to take them down when they were disorientated. Grimes tapped Soap's shoulder as they pushed forward to signal that she was behind him. But just as they entered, smoke began to fill the room.

"Shit, smoke!" Soap yelled as he dropped to a knee. Grimes had her weapon above his head, pointing forward and waiting for someone to appear from the thick smoke.

"Riot shields!" Grimes yelled as she reached around her belt and pulled a semtex out. She pulled the pin out with her teeth and threw it perfectly at the riot shield's feet. Seconds later, the explosion sent the riot shield man flying. "Pushing!" Grimes yelled as she stepped to the side of Soap and moved around the corner to see another man with a riot shield coughing. She quickly fired several rounds into him while he was distracted. They made quick work of all the visible enemies in the room.

"Ammo here!" Soap yelled out, catching Grimes's attention; she only had one mag left, so it was a good thing he found a small stash. She grabbed what she could fit, plus one extra for safety.

"At the control room. Stack up." Price called out as Soap and Grimes stacked up behind him. Price reached around and pulled a sledgehammer from his back to bash in the door. He battered in the door and quickly stepped back before putting the hammer back onto his back, ready to be used again. They could hear chatter from the room but not from physical people. It sounded more like a recording than anything. They pushed into the control room only to find it empty. They quickly moved interior to sweep the room to ensure no one was hiding behind anything.

"Clear!" Everyone yelled out.

"Visual on the control room." Price spoke to the others as Grimes walked over to the window and looked out and down.

"Damn," She muttered at seeing how high it was.

"All stations, negative on Hassan. Control room is a dry hole." Price called out over the comms informing the other teams. "Ghost, you got anything?"

"Afirm. Possible visual. Forty-sixth floor." Ghost answered him.

"Copy, we're moving." Price said as he pulled out a charge and placed it onto the frame of the windows. Grimes and Soap planted charges on their windows and waited for Price's signal. Blowing the glass out from the frame, leaving a hole with wind assaulting the room.

"Hook up, you two." Price spoke as he wrapped his rope around the frame between the two broken windows. "Entry point is four levels down. "

"All Bravo. Five is making entry on floor forty." Gaz's voice sounded over the radio as they hooked up and stepped out of their windows. Grimes looked to either of her sides to see the two men standing on their descent.

"Copy, we'll push him your way. Let's tighten the noose." Price called out over the comms. Even though Price was no more than seven meters away, Grimes couldn't hear him due to the harsh wind. She pushed her feet off the building, letting the rope go to allow her to drop some.

"Soap, Grimes, we find those controls. It's up to one of you guys to disarm that missile." Price spoke to them as they arrived at the level they needed to be.

"Copy that," Grimes called before turning to look at Soap, who was now looking at her.

"Done it once before." He laughed with a smirk on his face.

"RPG!" Price yelled, loud enough that Grimes didn't need the comms to hear him. She turned to look at Price as he pushed her to the side, and the glass he was on exploded as the RPG hit it.

"Shit! Price!" Grimes yelled out, fearing the worst.

"I'm good!" Price called back to her. She let out a small sigh of relief, short-lived, as she noticed men rushing into the room with their weapons pointing at them. "Move in! Now!" Grimes knew she wouldn't make it to the hole the RPG left, so reaching behind and grabbing her last semtex, she pulled the pin.

"Soap! Watch out!" She yelled as she pushed herself as hard as possible out off the building, throwing the semtex against the glass. The semtex exploded as it neared the glass. It shattered just as she made contact. Letting go of the rope, she front rolled and lifted her weapon to fire off several rounds, dropping enemies as Soap entered behind her. The three of them continued to lay down heavy fire as the enemy started to dwindle in numbers.

"Soap, go left. Price go right!" Grimes yelled as they followed her instruction and moved to clear both sides. Grimes continued to give cover fire from her current position that she could all around.

"All bravo, be advised. Hassan is in the stairwell, he's moving down." Ghost confirmed over the comms as Grimes moved to join Price and Soap downstairs, where the stairs were located.

"Solid copy!" Price confirmed. "Gaz! He's headed your way!

"Rodger that!" Gaz answered, confirming the information had reached him.

"Clear!" Grimes yelled out as she joined the pair of them.

"Get to the stairwell!" Price yelled at her, "Gaz, sit-rep."

"0-7, target is cornered! Floor forty-six." Gaz answered as Grimes pushed open the door to the stairs.

"Copy, we're moving to ya." Price followed behind. "Down the stair, Grimes, go first."

"Copy!" Grimes nodded as she moved first with her weapon trained downward. Price was next, also training it over the railing. Soap was behind them, with his rifle pointing up the way for the rear cover. Grimes made it to what she was guessing was the forty-sixth floor. The door had been blown off the hinges, and small pockets of fire covered the floor.

"Fuck me," Grimes muttered as she stepped over debris. She pushed in through the hole in the wall. It was quiet as she made her way through the hallway before she got a view of the room where they could look out. All of a sudden, there was a loud rumbling under their feet.

"All stations, the missile is hot! I say again, the missile is launching!" Laswell's voice sounded over the comms with fear and panic. The missile appeared in their view through the window of the building. Grimes's heart dropped as her footsteps slowed down.

"No, no, no!" Price yelled as he rushed over to the window to look at the missile as it disappeared from view.

"Fuckin' hell!" Soap hissed in frustration.

"Watcher, where's the target?" Price asked with panic.

"Unknown. We're working on it." Laswell responded.

"Copy, We're going for Hassan!" Price yelled as he turned and moved to the right of the room.

"This way, Sergeant!" Price looked at Soap before turning to look at Grimes. "Grimes, let's move!" They all rushed into the room where Gaz and the marines were firefighting against Hassan's men.

"Gaz, where's Hassan?" Price asked as Grimes pushed forward, killing off the enemy as much as she could.

"End of the hall!" Gaz told him, "Hassan's held up behind those doors!"

"Well, let's clear this out and bag him, then!" Price yelled. Grimes pulled out a flash and threw it. Once it went off, she pushed out into the middle of the room, knowing the enemy would be too disorientated to see her.

"He's cornered in this room! Follow me!" Gaz called as he pushed up past Grimes. They moved fast up to a set of double doors where they knew Hassan was behind. Soap took Price's camera to check behind the doors before opening them to get a positive on Hassan. But just as Soap went to take it, the door exploded. Grimes felt the force blast hit her hard, causing her to fly back to the floor. Her head smacked hard against the ground, causing her vision to blur and her ears to ring loudly. She couldn't fight the black that quickly swallowed her vision.
