Third Person POV
Off was right about how Gun would react if Gun found out that Off was actually a seminarian on his regency period, that he was just months away from ordination to priesthood.
Gun himself was steeped in the Catholic religion, in the strict Catholic beliefs and principles. His parents had sent him to a convent school run by German Benedictines from kindergarten to college and then to a Catholic university run by the Divine Word missionaries. There was no way that Gun would get involved with someone like Off if he knew what Off really was.
So Off kept his situation secret throughout their relationship until .........
On the seventh month of his regency period, Off received a letter from his superiors at the seminary, with the attached Consent to Ordination for Off's signature. If Off decided to proceed with his ordination he had to sign the document and send it back to them and start the preparations for the ceremony. That document had to be sent back to the superiors without delay because it still had to be signed by the bishop of their district and that took some time.
Off had just come back home from their business establishment and had found the bunch of letters on the table where the housekeeper always placed the mail that came in during the day.
His heart jumped when he saw the large envelope with the insignia of the seminary. He knew instinctively what it contained.
He went up to his room and sat on his bed, not bothering to change into comfortable house clothes. He carefully opened the envelope. Sure enough it was the dreaded document.
Off tossed it aside and covered his face with his hands.

"Hey, what is this all about?" Gun asked as Off continued driving his car farther away from the city and soon they were cruising down the country roads, the rustic breeze and rustic scenery blending beautifully and impressively.
"I have a surprise for you," Off said, smiling, and turning to Gun, taking his eyes off the road for just a split second before concentrating fully on his driving again.
"How much farther are you driving?" Gun asked, smiling back lovingly at Off.
"It won't be too long now," Off replied.
The sun was just setting when Off maneuvered his car into a narrow path from the motorway. From a distance, Gun could make out an unpainted wooden gate at the end of the path that was wide enough for only one car to pass through.
Without turning off the engine, Off got out of his car and took a key from his pocket and unlocked the gate and then pushed it wide open. He went back inside his car and drove into the narrow driveway that led to a small cottage. Gun noticed another small cottage not too far away that was still within the fenced in property.
Off noticed Gun looking at the other cottage. He took Gun's hand.
"We're going to that cottage over there," said Off. "This front cottage is where the groundskeeper and his wife lives."
Off led Gun through the narrow walkway leading to the other cottage. The front door was unlocked. Off noticed when he walked in that the groundskeeper's wife had done everything to perfection just as he had instructed.
Off had made sure that he and Gun would have a special dinner and a memorable evening at this cottage. He didn't know if he would ever see Gun again after this evening.
"I still need to know why you went to all this trouble," Gun remarked. "Are we celebrating anything special or are you about to give me some terrible news."
Gun didn't know why he had added "or are you about to give me some terrible news" to his question. It was as if his mouth had just spouted out those words without his volition.
Off stared at him wide eyed.
"What are you talking about?" asked Off, hoping that he had not sounded defensive.
"I didn't mean anything, silly," said Gun, "I just wanted to know what this is all about."
Off took a deep breath. He slowly approached Gun, took Gun's hands in his.
"This is all about showing my love for you on an ordinary day like this," Off said softly before slowly lowering his head to plant a kiss on Gun's waiting lips.
The special evening ended without Off mustering the courage to tell Gun about his heavy secret, his impending ordination.
When would he ever find the courage to tell Gun? Off asked himself over and over throughout the drive back home.
