I wish it wasn't plural.

There was a lot of pain in my left hand when I had to put the 's' at the end of that title up there.

Because it's February. We just passed Valentine's Day. And now we've had another school shooting.

I don't know how many people know the story. Well there was a school shooting in Florida on the 15th of February, 2018.

And frankly, that's all I really want to get into. I don't want to get into the deaths, fatalities, motives, or whatever.

Before you start saying anything, it's not out of disrespect. It's out of sheer personal reasons to try to keep my mind from breaking down. In fact, I insist you check the facts out yourself if you don't know them.

What am I even supposed to say here? It was bad? Of course it was bad. It was tragic? Of course it was tragic.

Guns? Of course, guns.

People's lives are going to be taken if it remains like this. Guns are just...killing weapons. It doesn't matter who has them or who fires them or whatever safety you have on them.

Damn a dog could kill a person with a gun. It's insane.

People kill people with guns. So it's the people and guns that's the problem. Guns are a tool for people to fuel their hate.

Taking away guns will remediate the problem of the term school shootings. And I'm really hoping no one decides to be stupid and try their hands with a f*cking crossbow or something.

People will remain to kill people, regardless of guns. That's a fact. We can't stop it. People will hate other people. They will think that killing them will solve their problems. They are fueled by whatever petty selfish vengeance they have.

Or maybe they're just violent. There's a lot of people in the US. There's a chance one is just a psychopath and we can't stop genetics or anything like that.

Of course we let him purchase a gun.

Or maybe they have been playing GTA or Modern Warfare or CoD their whole life since they were eight.

And they want to try it out.

The scenarios are endless. The excuses are endless. But the fact remains the same.

People are having guns. No guns means no shootings. Period.

"Oh what if I want to protect myself?"

I have no idea what to say. Protecting yourself is a valid right.

I don't know what to say. I honestly don't know how to argue against it. What am I supposed to say? Whip out your crossbow instead? Use a kitchen knife? Just let yourself get fatally injured and whatever aftermath/crime there is?

I don't know. This is why I dislike such arguments. If I'm going to argue about something, it won't involve death.

Guns are such an integration to society. I doubt the US can take a full sweep of all firearms anytime soon. If it's even possible, it'll have to be a gradual-very gradual-phasing out. That's the only imaginable way to do it?

Seriously, I see both sides and their points. Some are more valid than others. I don't want to say anything that'll cause me to get flames from anyone.

But in all seriousness, it's like this: guns are just another tool people are using to kill people. Whether it be in self-defense or whatever reasons they might have. Do we want to have more tools to kill each other? I think less tools to kill, the better.

That about wraps it up. Gun violence will probably be a controversial topic that we have to write speeches and essays about for years to come. That's insane that something like that will do that, but we can't help it at the moment.

And that's that. All of our hearts go out to those who have lost their lives. It may seem like we aren't, but we are. Maybe we don't care for long, but those moments we say we care are usually more than we care about some people for their entire lives.
