I quickly dropped Layla off with Dick and left the manor as fast as possible there were too many memories there, too many with him. I stopped at a cafe in to grab a small coffee to help calm my nerves. I spent the day trying to get my mind off of him. The bad thoughts didn't leave my head no matter how hard I tried. At lunch I found myself tracing my healing scars on my arms and wrists. My depression was way worse than I let on. I told Dick and Sonya that I was getting better so they would give me a little distance. The truth was, it was getting way worse. I felt like a ticking time bomb, ready to explode. I went to the library and read, Then to the park to watch the birds, at 4:00pm I still couldn't get him out of my head so I went home and threw on some running leggings and laced up my running shoes. Running has always helped me clear my head and lessened the strength of my depression. Before I left I sent a text to Dick.

ME: Hey Dick, It might be a little late when I come to get Layla. I still have a few errands to run. Speaking of running i'm going to go do that now. XD.

DICK: See you later tonight then Layla has discovered the snack room o_O

I slipped my phone and my switchblade in my pocket, you never know when you might be mugged, and started my run out the door. I ran for a good 45 minutes before I started to feel any better. I stopped at a diner and got a bottled water and kept running. My lungs burned and my legs ached, but I felt better than I have in a long time. I scaled the fire escape of a beaten and broken building. This building wasn't just any building, as kids Jason and I made it out little hide out. It wasn't in the safest of locations but crime ally has always had meaning for me. I met Jason here, Jason meet batman here, but most of all, I found hope here. I couldn't hold it in any more. I let my tears fall and my sobs echo. Memories jumped from the past into my head and I couldn't keep them out.

"My names Jason."
"Hi, im Serenity."

"Can I just call you Ren, Serenity is a little hard to pronounce"

"Sure, why not."

"I've missed you Jay."

"I've missed you too Ren. Bruce says you can come stay with us for a few days if you want."

"I'm not sure I would fit in"

"None of us do. That's what makes us special."

My chest ached and sobs wracked my body.

You're alone a voice said in my head

No i'm not I countered

They don't love you. No one loves you

More tears rolled down my cheeks

Just jump and then they won't need to worry about you anymore

I can't i have Layla

Jump and Layla will grow up with a happy family.

I can't leave her! i'm all she has left.

Jump and all the pain will go away

Jump and you can see him again.

Something in my brain snapped. I stood up and ran at the ledge. I was a foot away.

"NO!" A voice screamed and someone grabbed me tightly around the waist pulling me roughly away from the ledge of the roof.
"Who and the hell are you ?!" I said pulling out my switch blade just in case he would make and moves. He stood a good 2 feet in front of me. His eyes were covered by a red helmet and he was wearing a brown leather jacket and dark skinny jeans. He had two handguns strapped to his sides making them clearly visible.

" I'm the Red Hood"

"Why and the hell did you grab me like that?"

"You were going to jump. There was no other ledges to grab on to, nothing to land on. You would have died."

"Can't you see that that's what I want!" I was hysterical. I was yelling at the masked boy. Tears were running down my cheeks and I was shaking.

"Why would you want that?"
I fell to my knees. "I have no one left to stay for."
"Why do you say that." The masked boy came over and crouched in front of me.

"I lost my best friend three years ago. He meant everything to me. He left me all alone."

"Doesn't he have family?"

"Yes but they are nothing compared to him. I have a little sister too, I take care of her now, my mom isn't fit to raise her anymore."

"Why are you in crime alley all alone?"

"This was where we used to hang out a kids."

"Really?"

"Yeah."

"What's your name?"
"Serenity Pierce."

The boy in front of me let out a quiet gasp and got suddenly very quiet.

"I believe we have met before Serenity." He pulled his helmet off to reveal his face. " Or should I say Ren because Serenity is a little hard to pronounce." Those all too familiar eyes.

"Jason?" I whispered. I couldn't believe it.

"I'm back Ren." He matched my quiet tone.

"But you're dead."

"The lazarus pit works wonders." He cracked a small smile.

"Sonya might strangle you."
"She missed me that much."

"Yeah."
His face fell.

"What's wrong Jay?"
"I made you so sad, you almost jumped off of a building."
I looked at the ground and fiddled with my hands.
"It's not what I intended to happen tonight. Something in me snapped. But look at it this way you have amazing timing."

He looked at he ground.

"Jay?"

"Yeah?"
"Can I hug you or is this just another dream."

Instead of answering my question he just flung his body sideways tackling me in a tight hug.

"You really are back." I whispered in awe.

"I really am and I don't plan on leaving you again."
