Chapter 9 - Jess And Ross
Ross's POV
I watched as Ghetto went back into the White House. Nick and AK exchanged a few words before the girl bounded down the stairs.
I waited a few minutes after they left to make sure they didn't come back for something. After those few minutes, I stood up, the explosives clanking slightly in my bag.
I walked slowly up the stairs, savoring the feeling of walking into a national monument. It won't be here for long.
I walked through the door, examining the barricades. They had been put up not too long ago. It's too bad that all their work will be in vain soon.
I walked into the main hall. It was huge and covered with vines.
I noticed a hall to my left and had a sneaking suspicion of where Sky was.
I walked down the hall slowly so as not to attract anyone. I quietly pulled my M9 from its holster and pulled the hammer back, flinching slightly at the click sound as it echoed through the halls.
"What was that?" I heard a male voice.
"I'm not sure...." Another male voice answered. It was louder, so they must've been close. I pointed my gun down the hall, stopping by an open metal door leading into a room with 2 other metal doors.
The 2 men walked around the corner unarmed. One had what looked like a camera on his face and the other had an eyepatch. (...isn't eyepatch a word??? It auto corrected to stopwatch!)
I smirked as they noticed me and froze. I noticed the one with the eyepatch slowly creeping his hand to his G18 in its holster.
"Nope. You touch the gun and you die." I spoke. He froze once again, eyeing me anxiously.
"Take off your holsters, both of you, and toss them towards me."
Reluctantly, they slowly undid their holsters and threw them at me. They landed at my feet, and I kicked them away.
I saw nothing else on them. "Now put your hands above your head and go into this room." I ordered, gesturing to the door next to me.
They put their hands up and slowly walked into the room. I smirked, keeping the gun aimed at the camera face.
I walked over to one of the doors and pulled the lever, opening it. It was an empty closet.
I looked back at the 2, my face blank. "Go in, camera face."
As he walked by, he angrily muttered, "It's Corey...."
The moment he walked in, I pushed the lever back up, locking him in the closet. He began banging on the door. I ignored it.
I walked over to the other door and opened it to reveal another closet. "Go in." I spoke plainly.
He walked in and turned to face me. "You're gonna pay for this." I scoffed and shut the door, locking him in.
I left them in there to continue my trek to the bunker. Now where's Ghetto...?
I had to pass through a small library to continue on my way. I paused when I saw Ghetto muttering to himself. I smiled and took my finger off the trigger and put it in a hitting position.
I walked quietly up to him and tapped him on the shoulder. He turned around, his face of confusion instantaneously turning into a face of shock.
Before he could fully register who I was, I whacked him over the head, knocking him out. I pulled a pair of handcuffs from my pocket and cuffed him. Now where do I put him?
I noticed a corner of the library that was very enclosed by a bookcase. I dragged him over to the corner and dropped him in the back. I saw some cabinets by the entrance to the library, so I pulled a few over and placed them in front Ghetto, blocking him from getting out.
*TIME SKIP OF HYPERNESS*
I entered the bunker, though it was a bit hard. It seems that whoever was down here practically quarantined the place. Black and yellow were all over the place.
I finally got to the end of the quarantine hall to find a lab. Potion beakers were everywhere. I looked around and saw what I came for. Sky....
He looked up at me and growled. "You...." He rasped before coughing up some blood.
I smirked and pulled a bar cutter (just go with it) from my bag. I walked up to his cage and cut the bars apart.
The moment I did, though, Sky rushed at me and knocked me to the floor, causing me to lose my breath. He walked over me and speedwalked out of the lab.
I stood up, brushing my coat straight. I'll get him later. Now....
I pulled the explosives from my bag and began placing them all around. I am gonna blow this place sky high if it's the last thing I do. O_o
Becca's POV
As we walked to the factory, we would occasionally come across some zombies. I stopped the gang from shooting them and instead walked up to them to get them to go in a building. These zombies were kind and understanding, if not also a little sad. I didn't want any more of them to die.
Once we got visual of the factory, Nick, AK, and Shark went into this construction site across from the factory. I knew we'd be safe...at least out here.
I gestured to Jin to follow me. We walked in the front and quickly ran to the side of the building. This place was really old, so there was bound to be some holes in the side.
I was correct. We entered the factory from the side.
The inside was much worse. Half the roof had collapsed onto the ground, which would make it difficult to traverse across.
I stayed to the side in the shadows. Both Jin and I had our NV goggles on so we could see. (Oops. Probably should've mentioned it was nighttime. ...hey guys. Guess what? It's nighttime!)
What the...
BECCA!
Wha------
I yelled in pain as the feeling of being taken over returned. Darkness was not kind as it instantly covered my vision.
3rd POV
Becca fell to the floor, groaning in pain. Jin, having been informed of her situation, acted quickly and cuffed the other end of her cuffs to a nearby pole. He jumped back just as she lunged at him.
'Becca' was angry. This is the second time her meal was so close to her. She decided to focus her attention on the pole.
She tugged and tugged on it. The pole was shaking slightly, but it held firm.
NO! GET OUT OF HER WAY!
YOU WILL NOT DO THIS NOW!
WHA----AHHHHH!!!
'Becca' shrieked before collapsing in a quivering pile. The egos had managed to evict Rebecca from control...for now....
Becca's POV
I shook my head and looked up at Jin, whose face showed great concern.
Before I could even form the question in my mind, Jin relieved me of my fear. "You did not hurt me. The moment you fell I acted fast."
I nodded shakily (...this is a word....) and pulled a key from my pocket, unlocked the cuff on the pole, and slipped the key back into my pocket.
I stood up and hugged Jin, my eyes threatening to release tears.
I backed away from Jin and sniffed. He nodded and we continued on our way to Jess.
*LE TIME SKIP CUZ THIS IS GETTING LONG*
I approached a metal door on the second floor of the factory. Jin had found Ross's lab and was checking out...whatever was in there.
I knocked on it and listened quietly. There was some shuffling and murmuring. It sounded feminine, which was good enough for me. I began picking the lock with a thin piece of metal.
"Who's there?" The voice called out.
Definitely Jess.
I said nothing, obviously, as I continued with the lock.
Jess said nothing else as I worked on the lock. After a few agonizing minutes, the lock finally clicked. I fist-pumped and pulled the door open. Jess took one glance at me and backed up in shock. "Wha...BECCA?!"
I nodded happily and hugged her tight. She hugged me back and then backed up, holding me by my shoulders. "You look so different. What happened?"
I reached into the side of my pack and pulled out the book and quill, opening it to a fresh page.
'I've missed you all so much. I can't talk because I'm part zombie. Don't ask, Nick can fill you in later. Jin is checking Ross's lab for stuff. Not sure what.'
Jess read what I wrote several times. She handed it back to me. She opened her mouth to say something when Jin ran over frantically.
"Guys, we have to get back to the White House NOW!!! Ross hasn't been making formulas related to the virus...he's making explosives!"
