Cabinet Battle #1
[ let's take a look at the height difference of Alexander and Thomas in that vid. Small reminder, Alessia is shorter than her brother :') so she's like at the height where this tissue cravat thingy Thomas wears ends :') ]
"I'm off to a cabinet meeting with the President and the new Secretary of State. Would you like to join me?"
"Sure, why not?", Alessia shrugged and smiled.
When Alessia and Alexander stepped into the room, the first person she noticed was, who would've guessed, Thomas Jefferson. He stood opposite of the seat Alexander was headed for, so she assumed that Thomas was the Secretary of State.
Alexander was already eyeing Thomas suspiciously, even more so when he took notice of Alessia and began to smirk. He made his way over to the Hamiltons and took Alessias hand, kissing the back, before he said "What a pleasure to meet you again, fine lady."
"Can't say I feel the same," Alessia replied, expressionless. Thomas stood straight again and said "I'm afraid I didn't catch your name before." "Probably because I didn't give it to you," Alessia raised an eyebrow at him. Alexander beside them snickered at this conversation.
"Well then Mr Jefferson, I believe I shall take my seat," Alessia then said, noting that it was slowly getting more crowded and she wanted to get a good seat.
"Well then darlin', I suppose you take one last good look at the winner of this debate before you take your seat," Thomas smirked, obviously talking about himself. Alessia scoffed and said "The only reason why I should look at you is because I pity you. Pitying you for your loss. Because nobody goes against the Hamiltons and wins."
Alexander smirked evilly but proudly behind her, especially at Thomas' speechless expression. Alessia turned towards her brother and said "Destroy him." Alexander laughed softly "I will, don't you worry."
"Miss Hamilton, let me assure you, he won't win. Not against me, that is," Thomas spoke up, pulling her attention back to him. She sighed and took a step closer to him, crossing her arms in front of her chest "Let me tell you two things. One, its Mrs Laurens. Second, I may not wear that name anymore but I'm a Hamilton with pride. You dare go against us, we will not let it slide. Keep that in mind, Mr Jefferson."
And with that she turned around and headed to take a seat. She got quite a good seat, close to the aisle and at the front. She had a good view of her brother.
"Ladies and Gentlemen, you could've been anywhere in the world tonight but you're here with us in New York City. Are you ready for a cabinet meeting?", the president opened up, causing the crowd to cheer a little as this was what they've waited for.
"The issue on the table: Secretary Hamilton's plan to assume state debt and establish a national bank. Secretary Jefferson, you have the floor, sir."
"'Life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.' We fought for these ideals; we shouldn't settle for less. These are wise words, enterprising men quote 'em. Don't act surprised, you guys, cuz I wrote 'em," Thomas began, which actually earned him an annoyed groan from Alessia. She already had enough of his ego and they've only met twice and barely know each other.
"But Hamilton forgets, his plan would have the government assume state's debts. Now, place your bets as to who that benefits: The very seat of government where Hamilton sits!"
"Not true!", Alexander and Alessia shouted at the same time, to which Thomas glanced at Alessia shortly with a frown.
"Ooh, if the shoe fits, wear it. If New York's in debt, why should Virginia bear it? Uh! Our debts are paid, I'm afraid. Don't tax the South cuz we got it made in the shade," Thomas smiled smugly, looking down on Alexander.
"In Virginia, we plant seeds in the ground, we create. You just wanna move our money around! This financial plan is an outrageous demand and it's too many damn pages for any man to understand," Thomas rolled his eyes and glared down at Alexander.
With every word he spoke Alessia just began to hate him more and more.
"Stand with me in the land of the free and pray to God we never see Hamilton's candidacy. Look, when Britain taxed our tea, we got frisky. Imagine what gon' happen when you try to tax our whisky," Thomas turned around and headed back to his seat, having stalked around the floor before as he ranted.
"Thank you, Secretary Jefferson. Secretary Hamilton, your response," George Washington spoke over the mildly enraged crowd. Alessia just glared holes into the back of Thomas' floofy hair.
As the crowd slowly settled down, Alexander began "Thomas. That was a real nice declaration. Welcome to the present, we're running a real nation! Would you like to join us, or stay mellow doin' whatever the hell it is you do in Monticello?"
Alessia chuckled and muttered "Get him Alex..."
"If we assume the debts, the union gets a new line of credit, a financial diuretic. How do you not get it? If we're aggressive and competitive the union gets a boost. You'd rather give it a sedative?", Alex continued, turning his attention to Washington before he turned it back to Thomas.
"A civics lesson from a slaver. Hey neighbor. Your debts are paid cuz you don't pay for labor. 'We plant seeds in the South. We create.' Yeah, keep ranting, we know who's really doing the planting.", he practically hissed the last part and Alessia grinned as she noticed Thomas' mildly offended and attacked facial expression.
"And another thing, Mr. Age of Enlightenment, don't lecture me about the war, you didn't fight in it! You think I'm frightened of you, man? We almost died in the trench! While you were off getting high with the French," slowly Alex drifted off the subject — not that Alessia bothered.
"Thomas Jefferson, always hesitant with the President. Reticent—there isn't a plan he doesn't jettison. Madison, you're mad as a hatter, son, take your medicine, damn, you're in worse shape than the national debt is in. Sittin' there useless as two shits. Hey, turn around, bend over, I'll show you where my shoe fits!"
"Excuse me? Madison, Jefferson, take a walk! Hamilton, take a walk! We'll reconvene after a brief recess. Hamilton!", Washington finally intervened, calling Alex out for a word. As Alex headed out, Thomas and his companion held him up to talk to him, before Alexander finally went off.
Alessia made her way towards the floor, gazing around before her eyes landed on a familiar floof headed her way.
"What did I tell you?", Alessia asked with a smirk, to which Thomas sighed and muttered "Yeah yeah."
"Who's this?", Thomas' friend asked, standing beside them now. Alessia turned towards him with a gentle smile and said "Alessia Laurens." She curtsied politely, before letting him take her hand and kiss the back of it, him responding "James Madison. It's a pleasure to meet you."
Thomas beside them looked quite offended at this. When they met, Alessia didn't even give him her name, neither did she curtsy. Now that she met James, she curtsies and tells him her name right away.
"I hope you don't mind me asking, but, are you related to Hamilton?", James asked curiously, to which Alessia nodded and replied "Yes. He's my younger brother."
"James, may I take this lady from you for a moment?", Thomas asked, placing a hand on Alessias back and leading her away from James before he could even answer.
His hand felt gigantic but a little ... normal on her back, which irritated Alessia for a short moment. She had no clue how to describe this.
"My apologies, Alessia, for taking you away from my partner, but I must say that I'm quite offended," Thomas said as they were out of James' reach. Alessia crossed her arms in front of her chest and raised an eyebrow at him "And why should I be concerned with this?"
"I thought you to be a difficult woman, but there you go and open up to him right away."
Alessia laughed at that. Cute. He's jealous.
"There are few things you should know about me. One of them being that if I find a person sympathetic, I open up to them right away. If I don't, I'll let them know. And I have no business to attend with an egoistic, narcissistic, arrogant and snobby slaver like you."
Just in that moment Alexander came back. "Alessia, lets go home," he said, seeming a little pissed off.
That said, she just turned around and headed to her brother, leaving a dumbfounded Thomas behind.
