Chapter 10: The Boys and Suga
Mihyun POV
-flashback-
"...and Hoseok Hyung, he's like the human embodiment of a ray of sunshine. He'll probably introduce himself to you first and smother you with something that seems like a hug but also makes it impossible to breathe. Then Jin Hyung will probably come out of the kitchen to tell him to calm down and he'll most likely bring Namjoon Hyung with him, acting as if he wasn't just yelling at him for breaking something in the kitchen or not knowing how to cook something. They will probably give you really warm smiles and be more civilized when they introduce themselves. And if you took a glance around the room, you'll probably see Yoongi Hyung sleeping on the couch. Maybe he will wake up but it probably won't be until someone tells him that there is food. And then Jimin Hyung will no doubt flirt with you and be all Jimin-like until he realizes he can't keep his front up and turns into the whiny Jimin that all of us are used to. And Jungkook, he will probably stay reserved for a little bit and observe you. He might say hi to you but, then in like an hour or two he will come to talk to you like he's known you for multiple years. And then..." Taehyung babbled on, telling me what to expect when I walked into the house of the Bangtan Boys.
He'd decided that he couldn't keep me a secret forever and was bringing me over for dinner. He had already told them that I was coming with him and he was warning me about what I was in for. Of course, I knew what they all looked like and I knew their names and a little bit about their personalities but that was just what they were like on camera.
I listen closely to Taehyung talking about them. His eyes shined with nervousness but there was also an underlying gleam of love. He loved all six of those boys as if they were his real brothers, and they were nothing short of that.
I could tell that he was nervous about them meeting me because he cared about what they thought. I figured that he was just nervous about them embarrassing him in front of me, but I could sense that he wasn't worried too much about what happened because he cared for them so much and knew them so well that he knew the way they would act.
We arrived in the driveway of their massive apartment complex and climbed out of the car. We walked hand in hand up to the door and he unlocked it with a key he kept on a ring in his pocket. I walked into the apartment and was met by a delicious smell of food.
Then, faster than I could comprehend, a screech was let out and one of the boys came barreling down the hallway looking like he was ready to attack me. But, I wasn't sure because he seemed to be smiling gleefully. I recognized him as Hoseok just as he engulfed me in a suffocating hug. I giggled and struggled a little in his hold until Taehyung said, "Stop it, Hyung! You're suffocating her!"
"Oops, sorry. Hi! I'm Hoseok, but you can call me Hobi." He said with the same bright smile as before. I chuckled at his enthusiasm and introduced myself after.
"Hello, I'm Mihyun. I think I remember all of your names from the photo shoot we did a while ago, and Tae here has been talking about you all nonstop." I looked over to see him blush in embarrassment and roll his eyes.
"Awww! That's cuteeee!" Hobi cooed.
"Hoseok-ah! Calm yourself! And next time, don't suffocate Taehyung's girlfriend!" Now I was the one to blush, as he referred to me as Taehyung's girlfriend. I had never really heard it out-loud before. The one who said it was a broad-shouldered guy, who I identified as Jin, and he came in with another guy by his side. This one smiled and his iconic dimples gave away that he was none other than Namjoon.
I smiled shyly at all three of them and got three breathtaking smiles back.
"I'm Jin, and this is Namjoon." He pointed up at the guy next to him with the metal spoon he had been holding when he came into the hallway to scold Hobi. "It's wonderful to meet you outside of a photo shoot." He said kindly.
Taehyung wrapped his arm around me and a cloak of warmth surrounded us. I felt so comfortable around him that being in his house and being introduced to his brothers for the first time wasn't as nerve-wracking as I had ever imagined it to be. The combination of the warmth emanating from Tae's body into mine, the kind smiles from the half of the boys I'd met so far, and the delicious smell of the food that was in what I assumed to be the kitchen, made me feel perfectly comfortable and not out of place in the slightest. I snuggled into his side as we made our way out of the threshold of the door.
I looked over to where another guy was sleeping on a couch, but my head suddenly snapped forward to see another boy who was walking up to me with his arms wide open as a friendly smile graced his lips and his eyes squished up as if his smile covered every feature of his face. I was shocked when he tenderly wrapped his arms around my waist and hugged me. Well, this must be Jimin. He pulled away but grabbed both my hands and held them loosely as he kept smiling at me.
"Hello, I'm Jimi-"
"-NI PABO!" Hobi shouted from behind me and I was startled but giggled as the face of the boy in front of me turned from gentle to irritated in a matter of seconds.
"Okay okay, get your hands off of my girlfriend and go help Jin Hyung with dinner!" Taehyung glared at Jimin who realized he was still clutching my hands. He giggled and let go of me, then walked away, but not without sending me a wink before he turned. Taehyung scoffed and we went back to the door to take off our shoes.
"But why can't Jungkookie do ittttt?" A whiny voice met me as we walked into the kitchen. I looked at each of them to see who it was and found that, surprisingly, it was Jimin. It seemed that Jin had told him to do something for dinner and he was complaining that he had to do it instead of, who I assumed was Jungkook, who was peacefully sitting at the kitchen table on his phone. Jin looked at the shorter one with an authoritative glare, then glanced at Jungkook and rolled his eyes.
"Jungkook-ah! Get up, we've got a guest! And help Jimin with cutting the vegetables." Jin said, to the delight of Jimin who was standing with a smug smile on his face.
"Fine," he stood up and walked into the kitchen, his gaze turning to me. "Hello, I'm Jungkook," he said with a soft voice, then smiled tightly and walked over to Jimin.
I sensed a strange feeling of deja vu. Stepping back, I realized that everything Taehyung had told me before setting foot in his home was perfectly matched with his words. A giggle spilled out of my mouth as I acknowledged how close all seven of them were. They were nothing short of a family.
-end of flashback-
Taehyung POV
I scooped up my belongings from the pile of stuff gathered by the door of the dance studio after we had finished practicing and called it a day. Slipping on another layer and grabbing a black hat and face mask, I made my way outside, leaving the boys who were joking around while they gathered their own belongings. I swung my backpack over my shoulder and pulled my phone out of the side pocket.
BANGTAN group chat
Taehyung: Hey guys, I'll meet you at the doom in an hour or two, I'm going for a walk.
Namjoon Hyung: Okay, be careful and try not to attract too many fans. Do you want company?
Taehyung: Okay, I will. And, no, I'm fine by myself.
I made sure to text the boys to make sure they wouldn't worry about me. All I really wanted was time to be alone to think about all of the restless thoughts wrapped tightly around my brain. And the ones that had wrapped themselves around my heart. I ambled down the sidewalk in the direction of the small park that was located a few blocks away.
My steps weren't something that you'd consider focused but more on the wandering and aimless side. There was minimal light as the darkness was now consistently consuming the daylight and I soon found that it was pretty much dark outside.
Finally finding myself stood in the center of the park, I noticed there was only one person who had bothered to be at the park at this time and that person was me. I slid the mask down my face so that it rested under my chin and took a deep breath as I sat down on a bench. My feet held their ground and were planted just in front of where I was seated as my elbows leaned my upper body weight just above my knees. My head fell into my hands which braced it so I was looking down at the rough concrete ground and my hair slipped down to shadow over my eyes like a curtain.
A spattering of weathered gum laid beneath the bench and I watched as smaller circles a shade darker than the concrete began appearing on the ground beneath my face. They splashed onto the cement, hitting it like raindrops but they stayed just below my face. It felt nice to let them out. I had been holding them in for what seemed like forever and now as my emotions rained down on the ground, I felt as if I was peacefully drowning in them.
-
It was around 11:30 PM when I twisted my key in the door to the dorm. I quietly shut it and made my way over to the kitchen to grab an apple before going back to another sleepless night.
"Taehyung?" A gravelly and scratchy, presumably because of just having been asleep, a voice spoke from the hallway. I turned around to see a half-asleep Yoongi Hyung standing in a t-shirt and boxers looking at me with a questioning look.
"Hey Hyung," I said back emotionlessly, going back to get an apple.
"Why did you come home so late? We finished practicing about two and a half hours ago." His raspy voice spoke with a tinge of concern.
"I guess you didn't see my text? I was out for a walk" I said back, scratching the back of my head.
"No, I guess not." He said. I turned around again to walk to my room and I saw that he had finally adjusted and woken up more. He looked at me with a questioning and slightly surprised face when I was fully facing him.
"Were you crying?" He said with a shocked and worried expression. I cursed myself for forgetting to turn the kitchen light off before turning around.
"No," I said shortly. He looked at me confused but I'm not sure if it was the thought of not wanting to pressure me or wanting to go back to bed which made him respond in a hesitant tone.
"Alright. Well, make sure you go to bed soon." I nodded as a response and he turned around, walking back to his room and shutting the door behind him.
Mihyun POV
My life was going by slower than molasses. I woke up every day to see the same dull and grey reflection in the mirror. The bags under my eyes had gotten slightly larger and my hair had become stringy. My clothes from the past few days lay scattered on the floor next to the pile of photos I had been avoiding like the plague. After miserably staring at them for about three minutes, I trudged over to my closet, where I found an empty shoebox. Shoving all them into the box, rather aggressively, I closed the box, dropped it on the floor and nudged it under the foot of my bed.
I shuffled around my room, picking up all of the dirty laundry from my floor and dumped it into a laundry basket in the corner of the room. I would have considered this a step in the correct direction if I was certain it wouldn't happen all over again in the next couple days, but that's something that I couldn't be certain of.
For all I knew, I could be pasting all of those dreadful photos on my wall tomorrow while sobbing about how I'm never going to get my life back on track.
I looked at the clock on my nightstand to check how long I had before the photoshoot I was doing took place. Although I didn't want to do it, hopefully, it wouldn't be as horrific as the last one. This one was only for one of the BTS members, Suga. It was for his new mixtape that was to be released sometime in the next few days.
I gathered my bag and phone and headed down to the lobby of my apartment building. I climbed into the Uber I had called to drive me to the location. I would have walked but the sky had seemed to start crying just as I was getting dressed and I decided that I would rather be driven.
Yoongi POV
I opened my eyes after the makeup artist was finished and I looked at my reflection in the mirror. I had a fake cut on my cheek that would make this photo shoot match the music video that I would be filming later this week for my mixtape. One look at the clock hanging on the wall had my leg bouncing in the seat I was in.
The photographer would be here soon and I was as impatient as I could have ever been as I anticipated asking her. I heard some commotion outside of the room I was in and walked out, to get ready for the shoot. I saw her walk in calmly and set her equipment down on a small table. She glanced around the room and sent a small smile my way. I returned it and we started the shoot.
-
The shoot went by in the blink of an eye and after wrapping up and putting the majority of the equipment from the photoshoot away, I walked over to where she was. I needed answers and she seemed to be the only one who could give me them at the moment, but not here.
"Mihyun-ah?" I asked quietly, placing my hand on her shoulder. It wasn't weird to do this because she's familiar with all seven of us. She turned around, a bit shocked by not knowing I was behind her.
"Hello, Yoongi-ssi." I was a bit surprised by her formality, but ignored it and continued.
"Are you doing anything tomorrow morning? I would like to meet at the park or get coffee." I said. I hoped she didn't take this the wrong way, it's not like I was asking her on a date. But, she looked at me with a confused face and replied.
"No, I'm not doing anything, but may I ask why?" Her voice got quiet as if she knew what I was going to say next.
"It's about Taehyung."
