We Can't Escape Our Fates Chapter 2
We walked slowly to the other end of the room I was in. Jace opened a wooden door that lead outside. It was very sunny out. There was a court for volleyball and another right next to it on the other side for basketball. Next to the volleyball court on the right was a wall. It seemed normal until it started shaking and lava started oozing out. "Welcome to Camp Half-Blood the only place were people like you and me are safe. It's a place for kids that their parent either a female or male is a god or goddess of Greek mythology. You Violet are one of us a demigod or half- blood your special and one of a kind." Jace explained with a sparkle in his eyes.
I blushed. " My mother was a goddess? A Greek one. Sounds okay I guess." I said not
knowing exactly what to say. He nodded but said nothing and we continued walking. Next to the lava wall was a shop. It had weapons and other things that looked ancient. On the opposite side of the volleyball court there was an arena and podium. On one side of the arena there were targets and bows and arrows against them. That brought my immediate attention but I said nothing.
"Come on let's go to the Big House. Chiron will be waiting for us." He said tugging my arm. With a jolt I realized we were still holding hands. Not that I mind. I thought. Shut up. I thought back. We made it to a big blue house. The Big House. Jace let go of my hand and disappointment flooded through me. Stop it. Stop feeling that way you don't even know him. Jace made his was up the stairs me trailing behind him and he knocked on the huge door. It was at least twice my size and I stood at 5 foot 6 inches.
"You may come in." A deep voice said from inside. Jace opened the door and inside was a regular living room. It had statues all over the place. It had paintings of any Greek myth you could imagine and 2 comfy looking couches in the middle. What took most of my attention was a man with a wild dark haired beard and eyes that hold so much wisdom and pain. He looked normal from the waist up but from the waist down he had the bottom of a horse! Regular me would have fainted but after going through so much at such a young age I didn't think much of it.
"Hello. I am Chiron the camp director of Camp Half- Blood. I am so very sorry of my appearance usually I meet new campers like yourself in my other form." Chiron said looking apologetic.
I smiled at him and said " It's fine. I'm Violet Alice Fray. I'm guessing you are a centaur?" I asked hesitant not wanting to offend the camp director on my first day.
"Yes. I am a centaur. If I may ask why are you not shaken up? Usually when a new half- blood sees me in my true from they faint. But yet here you are seeming ever so comfortable."
I grimaced. " I've seen worse and experienced worse." Chiron looked at me in confusion but didn't press for any more answers. Instead he looked at Jace.
" I told you she would be fine and just had to heal." Chiron said a bit smug. Jace smiled and scratched the back of his neck.
"I know but I couldn't help it." He mumbled. Desperately trying to figure out what was going on I asked " What is it?" Both of them acted like they didn't hear me and Jace changed the subject.
" Do you have any questions?" He asked me. I narrowed my eyes slightly. "Only the one you ignored."
"It doesn't really matter. It's nothing really." He assured me but it looked like he was assuring himself more than me. I decided to bring that point up. He wasn't going to get out of telling me the truth.
I raised an eyebrow. "Really now. It sounds more like you are reassuring yourself more than me."
Jace sighed. " You aren't going to let it go right?" He asked. I shook my head. Chiron chuckled reminding me that Jace and I weren't alone.
"Fine. I was worried about your health. I was the one who found you unconscious at the top of the hill. There is your answer. Happy?" He asked trying to sound annoyed but he didn't quite succeed. I nodded happily.
"Very."
"Okay now that all of that is sorted out why don't you give Violet Alice the tour?" Chiron suggested to Jace. He nodded and got up.
" Come on Violet Alice." He said. A sudden thrill filled me when he said my name. How did he manage to make it sound so perfect. I nodded and got up. "Bye."Jace said to Chiron and together we headed back outside. I hadn't notice before but right in front of the Big House was a beautiful sea green lake. It glittered in the sun and it seemed so calm. People were in boats laughing with their friends. Next to the lake were cabins that formed a U shape. They all looked somewhat similar but yet very different. In the middle was a camp fire. Next to the Big House was a pavilion there were at least 30 tables that each fitted 5-10 people. Behind that were fields but that soon morphed into woods and even from here I saw the hill with the pine tree on it.
"Come on. I'll show you the cabins." Jace told me. We past a group of girl that were wearing things that you would wear on a red carpet. Their makeup was perfect and they simply looked perfect. My self esteem got a serious hit.
" This is the Hermes cabin number 11. God of thieves and messenger of the gods." The cabin was very plain but it had a winged pair of shoes engraved in the door. The windows had the curtain drawn so you couldn't see anything inside. We walked over to the next cabin. It was higher and the door, windows and, roof were metal. Inside it looked like a complete mess. Metals and machines were everywhere.
" This is the Hephaestus cabin number 9. God of blacksmiths." The next cabin was very... bright. The roof was gold so it gleamed in the sun blinding you. The door was gold along with the curtains. On the door it had a sun along with a little music note.
"Apollo. Cabin number 7. God of music, poetry, healing, prophecies, archery and, the Sun." The next cabin was the complete opposite it was a deep blood red with barb wires as decorations. The roof seemed like it was stained with actual blood. Inside were swords armor everywhere it wasn't as messy as the Hephaestus cabin but it was really close.
"Ares. Cabin 5. God of war." I was about to head to the next one but Jace pulled me away.
" Those three cabins no one has entered in a really long time so there is no need to show you them." He explained. I nodded. We walked across to the other like of cabins. The first one was a full of vines all over the roof and the walls. The windows all had amazing flowers and inside of the cabin it was very clean. The beds were made and the flower pots arrange by size. Only books were scattered on the desks and on 1 or 2 beds.
"The Demeter cabin number 4. Goddess of the harvest. My mother." Jace said his voice lacing with pride. A girl with black hair and a boy with red hair were laughing by the Hermes cabin. I looked over and saw them sneaking over to the Ares cabin supplies in hand. Jace completely ignored them. We headed towards the next one. This cabin had by far the best architecture. It had a temple like form completed with a white classic look. Inside the beds were all pushed up to the far end of the cabin. Blueprints scattered all over the several desks. Shelfs filled with books of all different shapes and sizes.
"Athena. Cabin 6. Goddess of wisdom, crafts and, battle strategy."
"Very impressive."I commented. Jace shrugged.
"I guess it is for some." The next cabin was the best looking cabin EVER in my opinion. The roof was silver and it gleamed the curtains were a midnight blue that had silver stars all over them. The door had an arrow and a moon engraved on it.
"Artemis. Cabin number 8. Goddess of the hunt, archery and the moon."
"She sounds really cool." I said quite captivated by the cabin.
"Yeah well, Lady Artemis has no children like none. She is the maiden goddess. Though she does have hunters. They are only girls."
"Really that sounds so cool!" I exclaimed.
He grimaced slightly and looked sort of alarmed. Why? I don't know.
" If you become a huntress you get to be immortal and as far as I know you only die in battle and such. But it's just girls no boys ever. When you become part of the hunt you swear off boys and any type of romantic relationship with one." He explained in a serious tone as if he wanted me to see the consequences of becoming a huntress. As soon as he mentioned no romantic relationship with a boy my heart and surprisingly my mind told me to never ever join the hunt. I felt my face drop.
" Oh...umm never mind." I mumbled a bit disappointed. He laughed. He looked amused and sort of... relieved.
"About 90% of the girls immediately say 'no' to be part of the hunt when they see that they can't have a relationship with a boy."
I nodded. "Let's go to the next one." I suggested. We walked to the next one and it was bright pink and I mean BRIGHT pink.
"That is cabin number 10,Aphordite goddess of love."
I faked gagged. "Is that were barbies go and die?" I asked. He laughed loudly. His laugh was so beautiful. He pointed at the next cabin.
"That is cabin number 12 Dionysus God of wine." He explained quickly. I raised an eyebrow.
"It's time for dinner." He explained. I looked around. I hadn't notice it was so late. You don't notice anything when you're with Jace. An annoying voice said in my head ever so reminding me of my feelings towards Jace. Just be quiet will you. I thought back angrily. Jace took my hand. "Come on let's go eat and meet some of my friends." He said. Friends? I thought anxiously but walked with him towards the pavilion.
