Chapter 4 - In which you make a bid
The codename for the human was called out, and she was dragged by a chain that was wrapped around her neck onto the stage. There was mumbling beneath me as people tried to figure out why this species of monster looks just like a human. I focused on the human. Her eyes were filled with sadness, like they had seen more suffering than one ever should. Then again, they probably had. She looked to be in her early 20s, which made sense because she was 12 when she fell about 7 years ago. The outfit - no, the undergarments she was wearing disgusted you. It reminded you of Princess Leia's Slave outfit from Star Wars - Return Of The Jedi. She also was chained by her arms and legs. The man on the podium had her by the neck. The man forced her to dance for the audience, and he was also constantly reminding you more and more of Jabba the Hut. He gave the audience bellow a few minutes to take in the sights of this 'rare monster'.
"Now that you have all had a moment, I would like to begin the bidding on this rare creature! This monster is a one-of-a-kind thing! The only Friskus-" Really? That's the least creative name ever. "This being was in one of high power two! She was a close friend/advisor to the queen of the monster kingdom, as well as being close to king asgore! To top it all of, the Friskus is unable to attack using magic, making any possible rebellion futile." I could feel the vibration from Dogeressa's seat vibrating from her growls.
"How dare they do this to Frisk... I'll-" I place my hand on her back.
"Stop. It will only get you in more trouble. It'll be okay." I reassured her.
"Now! Let the bidding begin at... $1,000!" The auctioneer yelled into his mike, killing my ears. A man in the box across from me slammed the button, offering up the thousand. I nocked the bid up to 1,1100 from there. and the bidding war began. I think many of the bidders had caught onto Frisk's odd human-like qualities, as there were many fewer bidders on her than any of the pervious sales.
In the end, there were 3 bidders who were willing to bid on Frisk. I was the first one. Then there was an old man in a suit with a tie, and from the way he carried himself, and the fact that he was always on his phone, you could tell that he was actually buying for someone else. He was the one who had already offered the $1,000. The third bidder scared even me. His face was a pristine, perfect image. It reminded me of a painting. But the things that were around him, they were what scared me. Strapped to his belt was a huge whip. Behind and Next to him, there were a pair of monsters, both clearly on the edge of what they could physically handle.
I looked back to the podium. The bidding had gone around a few times, and I had yet to make myself known as a bidder. As the auctioneer asked for $1,500, I slammed the red button. The man who was on the phone jumped, and then quickly began rapid-fire yelling into his phone. The other man didn't even blink.
The bidding went around and around. Eventually the man on his phone dropped out, and you could tell the man with the whip was becoming more and more hesitant.
"Can I get a $3,000? $3,000?" The auctioneer called out. I slammed the red button to offer it up without blinking an eye. "3,200?" He called out, as the numbers had started going up by 2 hundred rather than one. Whip man hesitated, lowered his hand over it, and the pulled back, shaking is hand.
"Do I hear $3,200?"
"Going,"
"Going,"
"Gone!"
"Sold to the woman in box 6!"
