When the final bell of the day rang, you were exhausted. However, you knew you couldn't skip out on a long standing tradition with the unfortunate monster who lived and worked on campus as the janitor. You dropped into the principal's office, and he nodded at you, so headed past him into alphys' room. The young female monster had worked here for almost as long as you had, and you had formed an almost immediate friendship. Walking into her small closet, you smiled at her.
"Time to head out to burgers" I told her, and her face began to show a smile. She threw on her coat, and we headed out. Down the street from the school where we worked was a burger shop called Grease's. The man who owned the place liked to pretend that he made all the food, but in reality, it was all made by the "fry cook", a fire monster named Grilby. However, the man who owned Grease's was incredible lazy, so he had Grilby cover the off hours, such as 3:30, when you and Alphys entered. The bell on the door gave a little jingle as you entered.
"Hello and welcome to Grease's. How may I help you?" He asked, his collar blinking the whole time, signaling that it was something ordered of him that he didn't want to do. You would have told him he didn't need to welcome you, but it would conflict with the order of hi owner, which had priority. Grilby, without needing an answer, turned and began to prepare your usual order. I then turned to alphys, who had frozen up after seeing a poster of sorts on the way over, and instantly torn it down.
"Hey, are you okay?" I pulled her towards me.
"Yeah, I'm fine." She responded, an obvious lie.
"Are you sure? You look upset." I pried deeper.
"Yeah. I'M FINE!" She screamed, her voice rising. Just then, Grilby delivered our food, and we ate in silence. That is, until I went to get ketchup for my fries, and it spilled over my burger, which inexplicably caused alphys to slam her face against the table and burst into tears.
"Alphys!" I cried out, leaping to help her.
"She would have loved that..." she muttered, unaware I could hear her.
"Alphys! What are you talking about?!" I was panicked now.
"I imagine she's talking about her friend who's being auctioned of tonight." Grilby muttered.
"What? Who?!" I turned toward him.
"Frisk. The human who fell." Alphys muttered. I was in shock now.
"But! She's. Human!?!"
"When her friends began to vanish, Frisk cane out and said she was embarrassed to be a human. Then the humans, drunk with their newfound power, decided if she didn't want to be a human, she must be a monster. As a result, she suffered our fate." Grilby explained. I was horrified. I paid for the burgers, and slid a tip to Grilby so that he could get something for himself, and stormed of to an auction to bring one human justice.
