13. This Is A Dark Ride

"Give me a hint" Hanna pleaded, walking down the halloween decorated footpath with her best friends.

"I will not give you a hint" Spencer said, "We made a deal, you'll see my costume tonight at the party".

"But what if we end up wearing the same thing?" Hanna said.

"We are not going to be wearing the same thing, I promise you" Spencer assured.

"Look, I'll give you a hint if you give me a hint" Hanna negotiated.

"Absolutely not" Daniella said, "No hints allowed, we all made a deal that we're gonna pick an iconic character from an iconic movie and surprise each other at the halloween train".

"Yeah" Spencer agreed.

"Whose stupid idea was that?" an annoyed Hanna asked.

"Yours" Aria, Spencer and Daniella said simultaneously.

A concerned Spencer turned to the quiet Field's girl, "Em, you sure you want to do this thing?".

"I want to do this" Emily said, "I need to do it, I want something big and splashy to mark the whole before and after of everything".

"Symbols and ceremonies?" Spencer asked, Emily nodded her head in response.

"And plus there's mystery live entertainment" Aria reminded.

"Mm-hm" Spencer said.

Hanna let out a sigh, "I have to get to the dentist".

Emily looked at the oldest Montgomery, "How is Jason?".

"Much better than before" Daniella assured, "But he was a lot easier to deal with when he was in the hospital, Caleb is literally on babysitting duty, making sure Jason doesn't rip his stiches open while trying to finishing the renovation of his house".

"And why can't you do that?" a confused Spencer asked.

"Has Toby coming back affected your genius brain?" Daniella asked the Hastings girl, "Me and Jason, Hanna and Caleb, we all have to be under the radar, can't have A finding out about us being back together".

"You're sure you want to go on the ghost train?" a concerned Aria asked her sister.

"Absolutely" Daniella said, "I'm not sitting at home binge watching the kardashian's while you guys have the best night ever".

"Oh, my god" a shocked Emily whispered, stopping in her step and looking at someone's backyard, the rest of the girls followed her eyes and they were equally shocked seeing someone's halloween decoration being a made up coffin that said R.I.P Alison Dilaurentis.

"Okay, who would do that?" a disgusted Hanna asked.

"It's Clifford Yerdley's house" Spencer informed.

"He's such an astonishing jerk" Aria said.

"Joke's over" Emily stated, walking over to the coffin, however before she could do anything, the coffin opened and a guy in a blonde wig and a skeleton mask screamed and made Emily gasp in surprise.

"You are such a tremendous loser!" Hanna yelled at the running boy, while Emily threw a halloween decoration at his back.

"You know, this is why nobody will go out with you!" Spencer called out.

"Let's get outta here" an annoyed Emily said, walking away with her friends.

While hiding away from prying eyes, Jason and Daniella met up with each other in a storeroom at the art gallery Daniella's mom used to work at.

Currently, Jason had the oldest Montgomery pinned against a shelf while he was busy kissing her.

"You know" an out of breath Daniella started, as Jason started kissing down her neck, "For someone who got shot, you're a pretty good kisser".

Jason smiled against Daniella's neck, "Yeah?" he asked, his teeth lightly grazing Daniella's exposed neck.

"Jason, don't leave a mark" Daniella warned.

Jason looked at Daniella, "Why not?" he asked, slightly annoyed.

"You know why not" Daniella retorted.

Jason let out an annoyed groan, "All this hiding is starting to really get on my nerves Dani, I thought we were past all this".

"I know" Daniella whispered, "It seems like we're back to the beginning".

"Look, none of you have heard from A since Garrett got out" Jason reminded, "What if that was the end of all this?".

"Two points for being such a optimist" Daniella said, not believing that they were going to get rid of A this easily.

"Come on, Dani" Jason said, wrapping his arms around Daniella's waist and pulling her closer to him, "Let's just take a risk".

Daniella sighed, "If this was just about us, then I would have in a second Jason, but this doesn't just involve us, it involves the girls as well and I can't be selfish and put them at risk".

Though annoyed, Jason nodded his head in understanding, he got where Daniella was coming from, and he wasn't annoyed at her, he was just annoyed at their circumstances.

Daniella placed her hand on Jason's cheek, "I'm gonna miss you at the ghost train, it won't be as fun without you".

"Good" Jason teased, kissing Daniella's cheek.

Daniella let out a laugh, "But I will warn you, if the right stranger comes along in the spooky atmosphere combined with the hot music, I am not to be blamed for my actions".

Jason raised an eyebrow, an amused expression on his face, "Oh, yeah?".

"Oh, yeah" Daniella repeated, a teasing smile on her face.

"Well, then maybe I'll just have to show up and make sure that doesn't happen" Jason said.

Daniella stepped closer to Jason, "I dare you" she whispered in Jason's ear.

"If I show up, your hiding plan will go in the bins, Dani" Jason warned.

"Or maybe we can learn to be sneaky" Daniella said.

"Sneaky in a train full of people?" an amused Jason asked.

"Scared of an challenge, Mr. Dilaurentis?" Daniella teased.

Jason pulled Daniella closer to him, "Never" he said, before placing his lips back on Daniella's.

Daniella's Look for the Ghost Train (ignore the coffee cup and shopping bag)

"The shuttle for the ghost train is leaving in five minutes, we have plenty of shuttles, so don't panic if the first one is full!".

Daniella entered the Brew where everyone was gathering for the Ghost Train, after Lucas took a picture of her, Daniella proceeded to make her way over to Hanna.

A huge smile formed on Hanna's face seeing Daniella, "Audrey Hepburn?".

"Yeap" Daniella confirmed, "Marilyn Monroe?".

"Yeap" Hanna confirmed, just as Aria walked over to the duo.

"Hey!" Aria greeted, "Oh my god, you two look amazing".

"Oh, no big" Hanna said, "I just put it together, barely took six hours, who are you again?".

"Daisy from the great gatsby, right?" Daniella asked her sister.

"Right" Aria confirmed.

"The movie?" Hanna asked.

"The book" Aria clarified.

"Right" Hanna said, nodding her head, "Where's your author?".

Aria let out a frustrated sigh, "Ezra had to cancel on me".

"Great!" an excited Hanna said, making both Daniella and Aria look at her in confusion, "Well, I mean, now me and Dani aren't the only ones without a date".

"You guys on your own?" Eric Kahn asked, walking over to the trio with Jenna by his side, "What a shame".

"You here with your brother's ex?" Daniella taunted, "What a shame".

"What are you doing here?" Hanna asked Jenna, as Eric glared at Daniella.

"Well, it's nice to see you too" Jenna said.

"I thought you always threw your own halloween parties" a confused Aria said to Eric.

Eric shrugged in response, "This year I decided to let someone else do the work so I could concentrate on what's really important".

"Or maybe, you knew that ever since your brother got admitted in Radley, the Kahn's haven't been as popular as they used to be" Daniella pointed out.

Eric smirked at Daniella, "I see why my brother likes you so much Daniella, you're a feisty little thing aren't you? He always did like to play with fire".

"Yeah and it ended up burning him" Daniella snapped, before walking away from Jenna and Eric, but she suddenly stopped when her eyes landed on a familiar costume, it was the same costume that had attacked Alison the last Halloween she was alive.

"It's just a costume, it doesn't mean anything anymore" Aria assured her sister and Hanna, as the two walked over to Daniella with their eyes also on the familiar costume.

"Yeah, right" Hanna agreed.

"Five minutes until the shuttle for the ghost train arrives!".

Spencer in her Marie Browning costume walked over to her best friends, "How could you possibly think that we would wear the same thing?" she asked Hanna, making the Marin girl laugh.

"Hey, did Garrett come back?" a curious Daniella asked the Hastings girl, her having messaged the other four girls about Garrett showing up at her house with some information but before he could tell her, Toby showed up causing Garrett to leave.

"No" Spencer replied.

"Did you call his house?" Hanna asked.

"His phone's been disconnected" Spencer informed.

"Where is he?" a confused Aria asked.

"I don't know" Spencer replied.

"Not bad" Eric said, gaining the girls attention, "You gotta admit, me and Noel put out a better spread".

"He just refuses to leave" an annoyed Daniella mumbled.

"You should probably go into catering" Spencer taunted, as Eric threw the food in his hand in the air before catching it with his mouth, he then suddenly started choking on it, "Serves you right".

"Hey, Eric, what's wrong?" a worried Toby asked, as Eric started gasping for air.

"Eric!" a concerned Daniella called out, as her and Spencer quickly rushed over to him after realising he was actually choking.

"Do something!" a panicked Jenna yelled to Toby.

Toby quickly went behind Eric and tried to pump his stomach to make him vomit, but Eric ended up falling to the floor.

"Oh my god, Eric" Daniella and Spencer quickly kneeled by Eric, Daniella quickly opened Eric's jacket, "Calm down, breathe", Daniella and Spencer let out a shocked gasp as Eric's shirt popped open and a devil sprang out, as Eric started laughing the two girls realised this was a prank.

Daniella hit Eric's shoulder in anger, "You are an asshole!".

Eric laughed, "I see why you have so many boys falling for you Daniella, you're just so caring, always ready to help the weak".

"I hope next time you actually choke to death!" Daniella snapped, before standing up and walking back to her friends, just in time to see Emily and Paige enter the Brew, Emily dressed as Barbarella and Paige dressed as Marlene Dietrich.

"They look like a wedding cake from outer space" an amused Hanna said.

"Hey" Emily greeted, walking over to her friends.

"Nice" a smiling Spencer commented on her friends costume, her eyes then landed on the Brew entrance where a certain Dilaurentis, "Dani, what is Jason doing here?".

"What?" a shocked Daniella asked, looking in the direction Spencer was looking at, her eyes went wide seeing Jason standing there in his James Dean costume, "Oh my god, I didn't think he'd take my challenge so seriously".

"Wait you challenged him to show up here?" an amused Hanna asked.

"I challenged him to be sneaky in a train full of people" Daniella clarified, before walking over to her boyfriend.

"These two just don't know how to be sneaky, do they?" Aria asked.

"Nope" Hanna laughed.

"All aboard the shuttle for the ghost train!".

As everyone started walking towards shuttle, it became difficult for Daniella to walk over to Jason.

"Hey come on" Hanna said, walking over to Daniella and grabbing her arm, "You can talk to him on the train".

Daniella nodded her head in agreement, she looped her arm with Hanna's, and the two girls proceeded to walk towards the shuttle that will lead them to the ghost train.

"Everyone, all aboard the shuttle! The shuttle is now leaving for the ghost train!".

"All aboard the halloween ghost train, please keep moving forward to the performance car, there are lockers available for your personal belongings".

Hanna slid open a pair of doors and entered a carriage with the rest of her friends right behind her, "Okay, what's the point of dressing up if no one can see you?" she asked, looking around the dark carriage.

Suddenly, the lights turned on, revealing the surprise singer, Adam Lambert.

"You have got to be kidding me" a shocked Spencer said.

The five girls laughed in amusement and walked closer to Adam and started dancing to his song Cuckoo.

As Daniella was dancing to Adam's singing, two hands were suddenly wrapped around her waist and pulled her closer to him, a shocked Daniella turned her head to see who had pulled her, a huge smile formed  on her face seeing Jason.

"This is not being sneaky!" Daniella yelled over the loud music.

"Screw being sneaky and screw A!" Jason yelled, "Tonight I'm going to enjoy this night with my girlfriend, we'll worry about the consequences tomorrow!".

As much as Daniella knew this was a horrible idea, she wanted to spend tonight with Jason and not by sneaking around but in the open, "I'm fine with that!" she yelled, deciding to leave the worry for tomorrow and tonight just enjoy this night with Jason.

While dancing with Daniella, Jason's eyes landed on Lucas, immediately causing him to excuse himself from the confused Montgomery girl and follow him, who was left wondering what had just happened, but before she could ask Jason any questions, he walked away, promising to return soon.

Daniella currently sat on a table, a drink in hand while impatiently waiting for her boyfriend to return.

"I can't tell if you're having fun or not", Daniella turned her head and her eyes immediately went wide in shock when she realised Adam Lambert was talking to her.

"Oh my god, hi" Daniella greeted, trying her best to keep her inner fangirl in control, "And don't worry, I'm having a blast, how about you?".

"I'm having a blast as well" Adam replied, "So, did you come alone?".

"Actually no, I'm here with my boyfriend" Daniella informed, "He's just gone to meet someone".

"Nice, so what's your name?" a curious Adam asked.

"My name's Daniella" Daniella introduced, just as another train passed by making it hard for Adam to hear Daniella.

"What?!" Adam asked.

"Daniella!" Daniella yelled.

"I can't hear you, what?" Adam asked again.

Daniella looked around for something on which she could write her name, when her eyes landed on the foggy window by her, where she ended up writing her name.

"Daniella, ah" Adam said, "That's great, that really suits you".

Daniella smiled, "Thank you".

"Well, listen, I have another set, so" Adam said, gesturing towards the stage.

"Yeah, you should go, I'll be there when you start" Daniella promised.

"You're gonna be in the front?" Adam asked.

"Hundred percent" Daniella replied.

"Okay, promise?" Adam asked.

"Promise" Daniella laughed.

"Okay, bye" a chuckled Adam said, before walking away.

"Wow" a starstruck Daniella whispered, watching Adam's retreating figure, having a hard time believing that she had a proper conversation with the Adam Lambert.

Once Adam had disappeared, Daniella went on to look at the view out the window, completely missing someone in a queen of hearts costume spike her drink.

A panicked Spencer rushed back into the train and towards Hanna, who was smiling at her masked boyfriend.

"Hey, have you seen Aria or Dani?" Spencer asked, an urgency in her voice, really needing to find the twins and take them to Garrett who had just informed her about seeing Byron with Alison the night she died.

"Guess what?" an excited Hanna said, completely missing the panic and urgency in Spencer's voice.

"Look, I'm gonna guess later, where's the twins?" Spencer asked again.

"Aria, I have no idea, but Dani's sitting back there, waiting for Jason" a confused Hanna pointed, wondering why was Spencer in such a hurry to find the two sisters.

Without wasting another second, Spencer quickly rushed towards the seat Hanna had pointed out and a confused Hanna also followed her, once the two girls reached the seat Daniella was seating on, both of them frowned seeing no sign of the oldest Montgomery anywhere, the only indication of her being here was her bag left on the seat, unattended.

After exchanging a confused look with Hanna, Spencer picked Daniella's bag, she then looked towards the window on which Daniella had written her name while talking to Adam, both her and Hanna's eyes went wide in shock when they saw Daniella's name wiped off, but one letter remained, A.

Hearing Daniella's phone beeping, caused Spencer to open her purse and pull her phone out and read the text she had just gotten.

"Guess who's not gonna make it to the end of the line" Spencer read out.

"A" an extremely worried Hanna finished reading.

Spencer and Hanna looked at each other, both the girls realising they had to get to Daniella before A succeeded in hurting her.

Daniella slowly opened her eyes and immediately panic sat in when she realised she was trapped in a wooden box, with her mouth and hands taped up.

Immediately Daniella started yelling for help but because of the tape on her mouth, her voice couldn't be heard by anyone.

Emily walked over to Aria, Spencer and Hanna, who were now standing in a carriage far away from the crowd.

"I couldn't find her anywhere" a worried Emily informed.

"She's gone?" an even more worried Hanna asked.

"No, Daniella's not gone, you guys, she has to be on the train" Spencer stated.

"What if she's not?" a panicked Aria asked.

"No, no" Spencer protested, refusing to even entertain the thought of A doing something horrible to her best friend, "Okay, she's still here, we just have to find her".

"Okay, what about all that crazy stuff Garrett told you?" Hanna asked Spencer.

"What crazy stuff?" a confused Emily asked, Spencer having not told her or Aria anything yet.

Spencer looked at Aria, "Garrett said that he saw your dad with Ali the night that she was killed".

"You're seriously believing Garrett?" an annoyed Aria asked, refusing to believe her dad was involved in any of this.

"Why would he lie to us now?" Spencer asked.

"To mess with us, everyone's messing with us" Hanna retorted, "You can get a varsity letter messing with us".

"Okay, but he says that he has to leave town, and this is what we needed to know" Spencer informed.

"Why does he have to get out of town?" a confused Emily asked.

"Cause he's afraid of something, or someone" Spencer replied.

"Can we please stop talking about Garrett and get back to finding my sister?!" Aria snapped, "Or did you forget that A has her?!".

"Look, nobody can get off the train while it's moving" Emily reminded, "We have to find Daniella before we get to the end of the line",

"You guys, A's on this train" a panicked Hanna pointed out.

"We need to find Paige and Toby" Emily realised.

"Caleb's on board too, he surprised me" Hanna informed.

"Jason" Aria remembered, "Oh my god, we have to tell Jason, he's probably losing his mind right now not finding Daniella anywhere".

"You go tell him" Spencer told Aria, "I'm gonna keep on looking for Daniella and work my way back to Garrett".

A panicked Daniella used her shoulders to rapidly hit the box, hoping that the box she was standing in would fall over and make a loud noise and alert anyone near her that she was here.

After much back and forth, the box finally fell over, but to Daniella's dismay, no one heard her.

After much difficulty, Daniella had managed to remove the tape from her mouth, she then turned her body, only to end up coming face to face with the dead body of Garrett Reynolds, immediately causing her to let out a loud scream.

Daniella quickly moved back from Garrett, that's when her eyes landed on the screw hanging above her, using that screw, Daniella proceeded to cut the tapes around her hands.

As Daniella was trying to cut the tapes, she suddenly felt the crate starting to shift, her panic started increasing when she realised that someone was carrying her somewhere.

Once Daniella felt the crate hit the ground again, she once again started working on getting her hands free, making sure to keep her cries on the low, not wanting to alert A about her being awake.

Suddenly, Daniella started hearing indistinct voices, "...lied to me, can't do this!", Daniella couldn't tell whose voice that was but she could tell that the crate she was in was now being pushed towards the now open door of the train, making her work faster on freeing her hands.

"Come on Dani, come on" Daniella cried, working hard to rip the tapes from her hands.

"Push, damn it!" Daniella heard a woman's voice as the crate she was in got stuck on a screw.

"No!" a male's voice said, just as Daniella managed to free her hands, "I can't!".

"Shut up! Come back here!" the female voice yelled.

While moving her now free hands around the box, Daniella's hand landed on a screw driver, she quickly grabbed it and waited for the right opportunity.

"Push!".

Once Daniella saw a shadow looming over the crate, she pushed the screwdriver through the gap in the box and stabbed whoever was trying to throw her out of the train, immediately causing the two people to run away after realising that Daniella was awake, leaving the crate she was in hanging half out the train.

"Help!" Daniella yelled, "Somebody help me!".

Just as the crate was about to fall out the train, Daniella's friends rushed in.

"Daniella?!" Spencer called out, rushing over and grabbing the crate before it could fall out, Emily, Hanna and Aria then helping her drag the crate back into the train, once the crate was safely in, Emily closed the trains door.

"Get a hammer" Spencer instructed, as Daniella's cries got worse and worse, "Hold on, hold on!".

Hanna quickly grabbed a hammer and using it, she proceeded to pry open the crate, once it was open, the girls wasted no time in pulling an extremely panicked Daniella out.

"Come on, come on, it's okay, it's okay".

As the five girls got into a group, they looked towards the box in which Garrett's dead body laid, "Oh, my god, oh, my god".

"The trooper says they're calling parents" Toby informed, walking over to Spencer, "They want to take statements before they let us go home".

Spencer scoffed, "When my mom gets here, nobody will be talking to anybody".

Toby put his hand on Spencer's shoulder, "You okay?".

"Relatively" Spencer admitted, her eyes then went behind Toby where the carriage doors slid open and Daniella stepped in, her wrist now bandaged up.

"You alright?" a concerned Spencer asked, rushing over to the Montgomery girl with the rest of the girls.

"Yeah, they wanted to take me to the hospital but I feel fine so I refused" Daniella informed, Daniella looked at Spencer, "Aria told me what Garrett told you about my dad, and I admit he might have not been the best husband, but he's not a killer".

"Why would we believe Garrett for a minute?" Emily asked Spencer.

"Okay, straight answer, A killed Garrett, yes or not?" a curious Hanna asked.

"Yes" Spencer replied.

"Yeah, but why?" a confused Aria asked.

"That was the whole point" Emily suddenly realised.

"What point?" a confused Hanna asked.

"That was why A pushed us to do things that would get Garrett cleared" Spencer realised.

"So, the only reason A made us clear Garrett is so that he could get out of jail and then A could kill him?" a confused Daniella asked, wondering why was A so desperate to kill Garrett.

"Two members of the N.A.T club, dead" Emily pointed out.

"Wait, we don't think N.A.T is A's target, do we?" a suddenly very concerned Daniella asked, "Because Jason was part of that club as well".

"Maybe it's not the N.A.T club, maybe A is targeting the people in Ali's room the night she was killed" Aria said, not wanting her sister to panic thinking the man she loves is in danger.

"What do we tell the cops?" a confused Emily asked.

"As little as possible" Spencer stated.

"They've already figured something out" Hanna retorted.

"What do you mean?" a confused Spencer asked.

"Look at everyone in this train" Hanna pointed out, "They didn't just place us anywhere, everyone in this car had something to do with Garrett Reynolds".

Daniella's eyes landed on the doors that slid open and in came her boyfriend, having just finished being questioned by the police, without wasting another second, Daniella quickly ran into his arms.

Jason immediately tightened his grip on Daniella, "I'm so sorry Dani, I should have never left you alone".

"Just don't let go now" Daniella whispered, tears in her eyes.

"Never" Jason promised, kissing Daniella's head, neither caring that this had ruined their drama of not being together.

An annoyed Eric walked over to the emotional duo, "Why don't you tell the cops you did it so the rest of us can go home" he told Daniella.

Daniella broke the hug and looked at Eric, "I didn't do this".

"Can it, Eric" Hanna snapped.

"Oh shut up, Hanna" Jenna said.

"No, you shut up" Emily snapped at the Marshall girl.

Eric glared at Daniella, "Stop trying to pull everybody into every mess you bitches make for yourselves".

"Hey!" an angry Jason snapped, standing infront of Daniella and shoving Eric away from her, "I'd be very careful with the way you speak to her".

Eric shoved Jason, "Or what?" he challenged, "You know I'm right Jason, you just don't want to admit, anyone who ever loves Daniella Montgomery, they get ruined, just like my brother did, and so will you, because she is a curse on everyone she loves".

Jason glared at Eric, the next second he ended up punching the oldest Kahn, causing him to crash on the drinks bar and then fall to the ground, in the process causing all the drinks and ice to fall to the ground and revealing a hidden body bag.

Everyone gasped and looked at the body bag in shock, while Jason's eyes was stuck on the words on the body bag, Charon & Sons, Funeral Directors, immediately he knew this body was his sister's.
