01. It Happened "That Night"

Five Months Later,

"Em, you and I are the only ones who did anything worth talking about this summer" Hanna said, as the five girls had a sleepover had the Hastings manor, "I mean, Aria took some boring picture class, Dani painted and Spencer went to college".

"I took a full load at Hollis, Aria beat out a thousand applicants for a space in that photography class, while Dani's painting won her multiple competitions this summer" Spencer boosted.

"And me and Jason also took guitar classes together" Daniella added.

"More like you forced Jason to take guitar classes with you" Hanna teased.

"Like you forced Caleb to take cooking classes with you" Daniella teased back.

Hanna chuckled at her best friend, she then turned to the quiet Field's girl, "So, how many houses did you build?".

"Uh, I think we finished about six" a clearly drunk Emily informed.

"And in poor countries, one house is like a home for fifty" Hanna told the rest of her friends.

Spencer let out a laugh, "Okay, miss productive, how much of your list did you actually do?" she asked Hanna.

Hanna looked at the notepad in her hand, "Let's see, cooking class with Caleb, done, volunteer at the animal shelter for pocket dogs--".

"Wait, that exists?" Spencer interrupted.

"Did not do" Hanna clarified, "Expand my vocabulary, effectuating, thank you Dani for the help".

"Anytime" Daniella said, holding her glass up.

"Interned for Vera Wang" Hanna continued.

"You got an internship for Vera Wang?" a slightly shocked Emily asked.

"Yeah, I changed my mind" Hanna replied, "Turns out they want you to work for free".

"Was that a car?" Aria asked, as she heard a distant noise come from the Hastings driveway.

"No, it's just the wind" Hanna reassured.

"Yeah, the storm is pretty wild tonight" Daniella said, glancing outside where the storm seem to be picking up every second.

"Oh, careful, Em" Aria said, seeing Emily pour more alcohol into her glass, "They're already pretty strong".

"Maybe for you, you're a pixie" Emily told Aria, "I've gotten really good at this".

Suddenly all of the girls phones started beeping at the same time, unlike all the other times, the girls weren't afraid of whoever messaged them, they were annoyed.

"Show me your boobs, A" Spencer read out the message the five friends had gotten.

"Looks like someone let their ten year old child near the phone" an annoyed Daniella said, putting her phone back on the ground.

"A for annoying" Emily stated.

"Are these ever gonna stop?" Hanna wondered.

"Eventually we'll be old news" Spencer said.

"Yeah, and then Garrett will go on trial and we'll be news again" Aria said, "Or Mona and Noel will start talking and we'll be news again".

"Or I'll show someone my boobs and we'll be news again" Emily added, making the rest of her friends laugh.

"Okay!" Spencer laughed, grabbing the glasses from the table.

"Hey, I thought this was a party" Emily protested, gesturing for Spencer to give the glass back.

"You know what? You're right Em, welcome back" Hanna said, holding her glass up.

"Now that you're back, you are never ever allowed to leave us alone here for a whole damn summer" Daniella said, holding her glass up.

"To making it to senior year" Spencer toasted, holding her glass up.

"Hear!" Aria said, as the girls minus Emily clinked their glasses together.

"Not all of us made it" Emily reminded, the mood in the room drastically changing.

"I'm sorry Em, I didn't mean it like that" Spencer apologised, feeling bad for digging up Emily's old wounds.

"To Maya" Emily toasted.

Hanna put her hand on Emily's leg, "Em, you know that we're here for you", she then turned to the rest of her friends, "To Maya".

"To Maya" the other three girls toasted.

Daniella and Hanna were sleeping together on the couch while Aria was laying on the floor, Daniella's sleep broke when cold air hit her skin, a confused Daniella slowly opened her eyes and looked towards the door only to see it wide open.

"Hanna" Daniella called out, tapping the Marin girl, she then looked at her sister, "Aria! Guys wake up".

"Where's Emily and Spencer?" a confused Hanna asked, slowly sitting up.

"I have no idea" a confused Daniella admitted, as Aria also sat up.

"I need an aspirin and a trough of water" Hanna complained, holding her head in her hand.

"Emily?!" Aria called out, standing up and walking towards the door.

"She's gone" Spencer informed, coming downstairs.

"What do you mean she's gone?" a confused Hanna asked.

"I've looked everywhere" a worried Spencer replied.

Hanna grabbed her phone and dialed Emily's number, while Daniella and Aria stared at the open the door, the twins hit with a sense of deja vu.

After receiving a call from a distraught Emily, the group of four friends quickly got into Spencer's car and made their way to the cemetery, where Emily called them saying she currently was.

As soon as the girls arrived, they rushed over to Emily who was standing by Alison's grave, a shovel in her hand, but that wasn't what shocked the girls, what shocked them was the fact that Alison's grave had been dug open and her body was missing.

An exhausted Emily walked away from Alison's grave and slumped to the grave, Hanna quickly followed to make sure she was okay.

Daniella looked at Spencer, "How can Emily not remember coming here?" she asked.

"She's totally out of it, she's still drunk" Spencer pointed out.

"You don't think that she had anything to do with this, do you?" a worried Aria asked.

"No!" Spencer stated, "She can hardly stand".

"Exactly, Spencer!" a frustrated Daniella said, "Emily can hardly stand, so how the hell did she manage to get here?!".

"Han, hand me Em's phone" Spencer said, walking over to the duo and taking Emily's phone from Hanna, she then started going through the call log, hoping to find some kind of clue as to how Emily got here, "Em, you got a blocked call at eleven, who was it? Do you remember who you talked to?".

"Um, I think I remember leaving your house, and the next thing I know you guys are calling me and I'm here" a very confused Emily informed.

"What? That can't be right" a shocked Spencer said, looking down at Emily's phone.

"What is it?" Aria asked.

"It says that at midnight she got a call from my phone" Spencer informed, pulling her phone out of her pocket and checking it.

"But weren't you asleep that time?" a confused Daniella asked, wondering what was happening.

"Oh my god, somebody called Emily from my phone" a shocked Spencer revealed, "Somebody was in my house, you guys, this is a set-up".

"What was that?" a terrified Hanna asked as the girls had a twig snap in the distance.

"We need to get out of here, now" Spencer stated, as the girls looked around in worry, hoping no one sees them here tonight.

"Come on, Em" Daniella said, helping Hanna with Emily, while Spencer grabbed the shovel that Emily had touched and with that the five girls rushed out the cemetery as quickly as they could.

"If I never see another shovel again, it'll be too soon" Hanna complained, as her and Daniella stood in the middle of the woods, burying the shovel.

"Wait!" Daniella said, stopping Hanna from placing the shovel into the hole they dug, "Before we bury that we should probably wipe our prints of it, you know in case someone does find it", Hanna nodded her head, she then took off her jacket and proceeded to wipe the shovel clean, "I just don't get who will do this to Emily? What will someone get by setting her up? And who would want Alison's dead body?".

"Some twisted psycho" Hanna said, throwing the shovel into the whole.

"I thought we only knew two twisted psychos" Daniella said, as her and Hanna kneeled down and used their hands to put the dirt over the shovel, "And those two are currently locked up in Radley".

After they were done burying the shovel, the two girls stood up.

"Let's get out of here" Hanna said.

Daniella nodded and with that the two girls quickly ran away, hoping burying the shovel, would also bury this night.

Hanna and Daniella were now in Hanna's car, with Hanna driving them back to the Hasting's house, when Hanna stopped her car at a traffic light, her eyes landed on a panicked Lucas walking the empty streets of Rosewood.

"Duck" Hanna quickly told Daniella.

"Why?" a confused Daniella asked, wondering who they were hiding from, not having seen Lucas.

"Get down!" Hanna said, grabbing Daniella's hand and pulling her down.

Both the girls peeked out of their hiding spot and that's when Daniella's eyes landed on Lucas.

"Isn't that Lucas?" Daniella asked Hanna.

"Shh!" Hanna told Daniella.

"You realise he can't hear us, right?" Daniella asked, as the girls watched Lucas get into his car and drive away.

Daniella and Hanna entered the Hastings house where they both saw Spencer writing a note for someone.

"What are you writing?" a curious Daniella asked.

"We're leaving, we're going to the lake house" Spencer informed, "And when my mom reads this note, she'll think that we've been up there since this afternoon", Spencer then turned to a now sober Emily, who was standing infront of the fireplace, wearing Spencer's clothes, having burned all of hers in the fire to get rid of the evidence, "Em?".

Emily looked at Spencer and then walked out the Hastings house and one by one the other girls also followed.

Next morning, the five girls sat on the couch of the Hastings lake house, none of them having slept for even a moment after last night, they were too tired and paranoid.

The phone ringing brought all of them out of their trance, immediately the five girls looked at each other, all having a feeling what this call is going to be about.

Spencer stood up and answered the phone, "Hello?", the other four girls sat back and watched Spencer talk to her mother, who was informing Spencer about someone stealing Alison's body from her grave, "Were there, any witnesses? No, mom I--I understand, okay, bye", after hanging up on her mother, Spencer turned to her friends, "The caretaker called it in this morning, the place is crawling with reporters, but the police don't have any leads".

Aria took a sigh of relief, "So we're okay, nobody saw us".

"Yeah" Spencer confirmed, just as Daniella's phone started ringing.

Daniella grabbed her phone from the table, "It's Jason" she informed her friends, "He's probably calling to inform me about Ali's body, here", Daniella handed her phone to Spencer, "You talk to him".

"What, why?" a confused Spencer asked.

"Because I can't talk to him and lie to his face!" a guilty Daniella snapped.

"And what exactly do you want me to say to him?" Spencer asked.

"Tell him that I've gone to mars and he can never talk to me again" Daniella replied, her phone finally stopped ringing.

"Okay, Dani, you're not going to start ignoring Jason" Hanna said.

"Hanna, if I talk to him, look at him, kiss him, even worse have sex with him, without telling him what happened last night, that will make me a horrible girlfriend" a panicked Daniella said.

"But it will make you a great friend" Spencer said, gesturing her head towards Emily.

Daniella looked towards Emily, who had a extremely guilty look on her face, "I'm so sorry guys" Emily apologised to her friends, "This is all my fault".

"No one's blaming you" Hanna assured.

"Yeah Em, somebody took you there to make it look like you dug up Ali's body" Spencer said, handing Daniella her phone back and then sitting back down.

"And I made it so easy, if I wasn't so wasted--".

"Em" Hanna interrupted, "Last night never happened".

"Are we sure about that?" a worried Aria asked, "We can still go to the cops, we can tell them the truth".

"We don't even know what the truth is" Hanna pointed out.

"Okay" Spencer suddenly said, "We got up here yesterday afternoon, we roasted some marshmallows, we talked about how much fun senior year is gonna be, and, we went to bed early".

Hanna looked at the panicking Field's girl, "Em?".

"I understand" Emily whispered.

Hanna then looked at Daniella, who had her head in her hands, "Dani, you can't tell Jason anything, but at the same time you can't let this affect your relationship either".

Daniella looked at Hanna, she then looked at Emily, then at Spencer and Aria, both of them gave her a reassuring nod.

"Fine" Daniella whispered, "No one finds out about last night, not even Jason".

"Last night never happened" Emily said.

A panicked Daniella let out a gasp and sat up in her bed, her sleep having broken by the nightmare she just had.

"I thought starting therapy with Dr. Sullivan again stopped your nightmares".

"Holy!" a startled Daniella let out a yell hearing someone's voice in her room, looking towards her door, she saw her boyfriend leaning again her doorframe, "Jason! You scared the hell out me".

"Sorry, I didn't mean to" Jason said, walking over to his girlfriend and sitting on the edge of her bed.

"What are you doing here?" a confused Daniella asked.

"I needed you" Jason whispered, looking down at the floor, "But you weren't answering your phone, I got kind of worried so came here to see you, Mike let me in".

Daniella looked down at her fingers, guilt consuming every part of her body, "I'm sorry" she whispered, "I didn't mean to ignore you, it's just when I heard what happened, I went into panic mode, I kind of shut everyone out, completely by accident".

"I understand" Jason assured.

"You do?" Daniella asked, looking up at the Dilaurentis boy.

Jason nodded his head, "I do" he confirmed, lacing his fingers with Daniella's, "Before we talk about Ali, wanna talk about your nightmares? I thought you stopped having them since you started therapy?".

Daniella sighed, "Don't be mad" she said, closing her eyes and not looking towards Jason, "I might of slightly lied to you".

"What?" a confused Jason asked.

"The nightmares didn't stop Jason, they became less frequent, but they never stopped" a guilty Daniella admitted.

"Why did you lie to me, Dani?" a confused and slightly hurt Jason asked.

"Because you were so happy in the summer, we both were, I didn't want to make you worried" Daniella admitted.

Jason sighed, he put his finger underneath Daniella's chin and forced her to look at him, "I always worry about you, and it's because I love you" he said.

"I love you too, that's why I don't like seeing you worried" Daniella said, guilt in her hard for hiding about that night and about what Dr. Sullivan has suggested her to do, "Especially not for me".

"I have a right to be worried about you, Dani" Jason stated, "And you can't take that away from me", Jason cupped Daniella's face in his hands, "I need you to remember that you are always going to be safe with me, I will never let another Noel hurt you ever again, I'm just so glad you and the girls were far away from the mess that happened last night, I didn't want the cops to stress you out with their useless questions".

"But they stressed you out, didn't they?" Daniella asked.

Jason sighed, "Whether they questioned me or not, I was anyways going to be stressed out" he admitted, "Did you read about the new lead in Ali's case?".

"What new lead?" a confused Daniella asked.

"According to the cops, Maya found some things that belonged to Alison" Jason revealed.

"Wait, I thought she already gave everything over to you?" a confused Daniella said.

"That's what I thought as well, but I think she kept something" Jason said, "Something that allowed the cops to connect Garrett to Ali's murder".

"If that's the case then why didn't Maya tell that to Emily?" a confused Daniella asked.

Jason shrugged, "Maybe because before she could, Garrett or someone else got to her first" he said, Jason then shook his head and looked at his girlfriend, "Can we change the subject? I came here for peace of mind, not to talk about things that do my head in".

"Of course" Daniella said, "What do you want to talk about?".

Jason shook his head, "Nothing" he said.

Daniella looked at Jason in confusion, "So you want to sit in silence?".

"Something like that" Jason said, before pushing Daniella back on the bed.

"Woah!" a surprised Daniella said, as Jason hovered over her, "What are you doing?".

"Cuddling with my girlfriend" Jason replied, placing a peck on Daniella's lips, he then placed his head on her chest.

Daniella smiled and ran her hand through his hair, "Better?".

"Much" Jason whispered, his fingers lightly going up and down Daniella's leg.

After Jason left, Daniella got picked up by Hanna and together the two best friends made their way over to Radley Sanitarium, Hanna going there to visit Mona, her former best friend who she still had so many questions for, and Daniella, because Dr. Sullivan had suggested to her that for her to truly move on from the trauma Noel had given her, she needed to first learn to face Noel.

Originally, Daniella told none of the friends about this but one day both Hanna and Daniella ended up coming face to face with each other at Radley and both of them were forced to spill to each other what they were doing here and since then, they both decided to visit Radley together, Hanna wanting to support Daniella and Daniella wanting to be there for Hanna.

Currently, Hanna and Daniella stood at the Radley's reception, signing in with their fake names.

"You'll need to wear it while you're on this floor" the receptionist told Hanna and Daniella, handing Hanna a badge that said Rivers on it while Daniella's said Montague, Romeo and Juliet was one of Daniella's favorite plays so when she was asked her name on the spot, Ella Montague was what she came up with, "We still haven't seen any changes in any of them, but I'm sure they appericate your visits".

The receptionist buzzed Hanna and Daniella in and led them both to rooms 217 and 218, the two best friends looked at each other and after giving each other a encouraging nod, Hanna entered room 217 where Mona was, and Daniella entered room 218, where Noel was.

Daniella sat on the chair besides Noel's bed, flipping through a magazine while Noel sat on the bed, staring blankly ahead, after flipping through the magazine a frustrated Daniella shut the magazine and looked at Noel, who still hadn't looked at her.

"You know I don't believe you, right?" Daniella said, "I don't believe this whole mental thing you have going on Noel, but the world does, so congrats you managed to fool them", Daniella looked at Noel, hoping for some kind of reaction but she got nothing, causing her to let out a sigh, "Are you seriously going to stare at that wall forever?", Noel once again said nothing, "Okay you know? I'm here for my mental wellbeing and I can't get better till you start talking and answering my questions, it's not easy for me to come here, you know? And from what I'm told, I'm the only one who visits you, so the least you can do is start talking!", Daniella looked at Noel with tears in her eyes, "I--I need to know that it wasn't my fault, I need to know that it wasn't because of me that you snapped, I need to that you are responsible for your actions and I was not the one who pushed you over the edge", Noel stayed quiet, causing Daniella to let out a frustrated sigh, "Fine" she snapped, "Be like this, I don't care".

Daniella got up from the chair and after grabbing her bag, proceeded to walk out the room, she looked towards Mona's room and not seeing Hanna waiting for her outside made her realise she was still inside talking to her former best friend.

"Daniella?".

Daniella looked towards the voice who called her names and her eyes widened seeing Wren Kingston.

"No" Daniella quickly said, looking behind Wren to see the nurse looking at her with a suspicious look, "I'm not the person you're looking for, I think you've mistaken me for someone else".

"Oh, Miss Montague, I'm sorry" Wren said, playing along with Daniella's lie after realising she had lied to get in here, "Your resemblance to an old friend is uncanny".

Daniella let out a small chuckle, after making sure the nurse wasn't looking, she turned back to Wren, "Can we please pretend that you never saw me here?" she whispered.

"What are you doing here?" a confused Wren asked.

"I could ask you the same question" Daniella retorted.

"I volunteer a few days a month, quid pro quo" Wren informed.

Daniella sighed, "My therapist recommended me spending some time with Noel to stop my nightmares of him, plus I have some questions I need answers to, right now nothing makes sense".

"Sense is something rarely mined from mental illness" Wren said, "Trust me, I've spent a lifetime trying".

"I get that" Daniella said, "And I'm also realising I can't just keep coming back here, especially when it seems like he has no idea I'm even in the room with him".

"Come here" Wren said, grabbing Daniella's arm and leading her out.

Next morning, Daniella stood with her sister and Spencer in the school hall.

"Even if I say his name we get sucked into this vortex of awkwardness" Aria told Spencer, speaking about her and Ezra's relationship, "And my dad pretends like he can't hear, but his neck gets all red and then his face pinches up like he's constipated".

"So basically Ezra is like Lord Voldemort" Spencer said, as Hanna walked over to the trio.

"Hey" Daniella greeted the Marin girl.

"Hey" Hanna greeted.

Spencer's eyes suddenly landed on Lucas who had just passed the girls, "Hi, Lucas" she greeted, remembering Hanna and Daniella telling her about seeing Lucas that night, but Lucas didn't say anything, just looked at the girls and walked away.

"He knows something" Aria realised.

Spencer looked at Hanna and Daniella, "I thought you said he didn't see you guys".

"He didn't" Hanna stated.

"His whole dark Lucas persona right after the masquerade ball can't be a coincidence" Daniella said.

"Jenna has that effect on people" Spencer said.

"Yeah, but she's been gone all summer, and he's still Boo Radley" Aria said.

"Have you ever noticed how many skinny brunettes go to this school?" Hanna asked, looking at the girl Lucas was talking to.

"That girl definitely fits the swan costume" Daniella said.

"Has anybody heard from Emily?" a concerned Spencer asked.

"No, I left her a bunch of messages" Hanna replied.

"Yeah, us too" Aria added, "Hope she's okay".

Daniella entered the girls bathroom, she entered a stall and tried to lock the door but the lock wouldn't work.

"Are you kidding me?" an annoyed Daniella mumbled, repeatedly trying to lock the door, when suddenly she heard the bathroom door open, but no footsteps or voices, "Hello?", Daniella peeked through the crack in the door and froze seeing a person in a black hoodie, immediately she gasped and took a step back, all the times Noel cornered her in his black hoodie running through her head and suddenly she found it heard to breathe, she cried seeing black boots appear infront of stall, "Go away" she whispered, "Go away!".

"Dani?" a panicked Spencer called, rushing into the girls bathroom with Aria and Hanna right behind, the three girls were shocked seeing Daniella sitting on the bathroom floor, her back to a wall with tears streaming down her face.

"Dani, are you okay?" a worried Hanna asked, rushing over to her best friend with the other two girls.

"No, I'm not okay" Daniella cried, "I had another panic attack, those stupid sessions with Dr. Sullivan aren't working, I'm seeing A everywhere".

"A isn't here, Dani" Aria assured her panicking sister.

"Aria's right, Noel and Mona are in straitjackets at Radley" Spencer reminded.

"Yeah, I heard that both of them are practically in comas over there" Hanna said.

Hanna and Spencer helped Daniella stand up, "It's not Mona that scares me, it's Noel" Daniella admitted, "I'm terrified because what if he's acting? What if he comes out of Radley and this time succeeds in taking me?".

"Dani, Noel can't hurt you anymore" Spencer stated, "Bitch crazy".

"Don't worry Dani, someday we will all have jubilation" Hanna said, making her friends laugh.

Daniella pulled Hanna into a hug, "That was a really good use of that word, Han" Spencer laughed, as her and Aria also joined the hug.

After school, Daniella ended up in her living room, helping her mother pack up her stuff.

"Aw, you and Aria gave this to me for mother's day" Ella reminisced, looking at a photo of Aria and Daniella when they in preschool, the photo framed with painted popsicle sticks, Ella placed the photo in a box, wanting to take it along with her, her eyes then landed on today's paper, picking it up, she saw the headlines talking about Alison and Maya, Girl's Remains Stolen, Police Officer Awaits Trail For Two Murders, "Oh, this poor girl just can't get any peace".

"Mom, I really don't want to talk about Ali right now" Daniella admitted, picking up another photo album, opening it she realised it was her parents wedding album.

"You know, I wouldn't take any of it back" Ella told Daniella, seeing her staring at the wedding invitation in the album, "And neither would your father".

Daniella sighed, she looked at her mother, "Separating from dad? This is really what your heart wants?" she asked, wanting to make sure this is something her mom is doing because she wants to not because of some other reason.

"When your father and I met, we were so young" Ella remembered, taking the album from Daniella's hand and starting to pack it up, "But as life got more complicated, it was just harder for us to find ways to compromise".

"Does the complication happen to be Aria's relationship with Ezra?" Daniella asked, a slightly bitter tone in her voice, she loved her sister but she couldn't support a relationship that was tearing their family apart, again.

"No, that is just one of the many issues we couldn't agree on" Ella clarified.

"But it is the issue that tore you guys apart" Daniella retorted.

"That is absolutely not true" Ella stated, "We're just too different now, and that's okay, I don't want to pretend to be somebody that I'm not, and your father shouldn't have to either, Dani, promise me you won't let this effect yours and Aria's relationship".

Daniella sighed, "I'm trying mom, but I can't accept him with open arms".

"And no one's asking you to do that, all I'm asking is, don't let a third person come between a bond that has been there since the very beginning of your life" Ella said.

Daniella nodded her head in understanding, "I won't let my opinion of Ezra ruin mine and Aria's relationship" she promised, making her mother give her a smile.

Daniella sat on the kitchen counter at Jason's, "Jason, why does it take ten minutes for you to cook two minute noodles?".

"Stop rushing perfection Dani" Jason said, feeding Daniella a strawberry.

"At this point, by the time your noodles are done, my stomach will be full with strawberries" Daniella teased.

"Good, more noodles for me" Jason stated.

Daniella chuckled, "Just let me order take out".

"We order take out everyday, it's not healthy, Dani" Jason said.

"And two minute noodles are?" Daniella asked.

"They are definitely better than your dumplings" Jason said.

"Hey!", Daniella grabbed Jason's shirt and pulled him over to her, "Don't say anything about my dumplings, Dilaurentis".

"Or what, Montgomery?" Jason asked, stepping closer to Daniella.

Daniella hooked her legs against Jason's waist and leaned closer to him, their lips grazing each other, "Or I'll make you forget about your two minute noodles".

Jason smirked, "I'd like to see you try".

Daniella smiled, but as she was about to kiss Jason, her phone started ringing.

Jason groaned in annoyance, "No".

Daniella laughed, "Yes" she said, kissing Jason's nose before lightly shoving him away, "Go make your two minute noodles, while I answer whoever is calling".

"I hate whoever is calling you" Jason stated, putting his hands on Daniella's waist and helping her down the counter.

"Go Jason" Daniella laughed, lightly pushing Jason towards the stove while Daniella grabbed her phone and walked out the kitchen, after walking out, she looked down at her phone to see who was calling, and once seeing the caller, she froze.

Someone from Radley was calling her, after making sure Jason wasn't behind her, Daniella walked into the Dilaurentis's living room where she knew Jason wouldn't hear her conversation, she then picked the call, "Hello?".

"Is Miss Montague available?" Wren asked from the other side of the phone.

"Who the hell gave you my number, Wren?" a confused Daniella asked..

"Well, I took a chance that Miss Montague's emergency contact Daphne Montgomery might in fact be Daniella Montgomery" Wren replied.

"Why did you call?" Daniella asked, "Did something happen to Noel?".

"Other than the obvious?" Wren asked.

"Your british humor isn't as funny as you think it is" Daniella said.

"I'm sorry, I have a very dry sense of humor" Wren apologised.

"Wren, honestly get to the point otherwise I'm going to hang up" Daniella warned.

"Noel's making progress and his doctor thinks that your visits may be helping" Wren informed.

Daniella froze, "Progress?" she whispered, "What kind of progress?".

"You should come by tomorrow and see for yourself" Wren said.

"Dani" Jason called out, entering the room.

"Yeah mom, I promise I'll help you settle in your new apartment tomorrow and I won't make any excuses this time" Daniella said, pretending to be on the phone with her mom.

"What?" a confused Wren asked.

"Bye mom" Daniella said, "See you tomorrow".

"See you tomorrow, Daniella" an amused Wren said, hanging up the phone.

Daniella turned to Jason, "Just my mom asking me to help her settle in" she lied, she felt guilty for lying to Jason but she also knew once he found out the truth, his anger will be beyond anyone's control and right now, she doesn't think she can handle it.

Daniella stood infront of her long mirror, trying to perfect her eye linear when suddenly a panicked Ella entered Daniella's room.

"Dani, the police are here" Ella informed, shocking Daniella, who wondered if they had figured out that the girls were there the night someone took Alison's body, "They want to talk to you and Aria".

Next thing Daniella knew was being sat in one of the interrogation room, getting interrogated by Rosewood's finest about where she was the night someone took Alison's body.

"We were all at Spencer's lake house" Daniella informed, "We made a fire and Emily showed us pictures from her trip, we all spent the evening catching up on what we did in the summer holidays".

Hanna, Spencer, Aria and Daniella stepped out the police station, Daniella looked for her mother who she found talking to Ezra immediately causing Daniella to roll her eyes in annoyance, she was too tired to deal with Ezra and Aria's drama.

"Are you two okay?" a worried Ella asked her daughters after seeing them walk towards her, "Do I need to talk to them?".

"No, we're fine, we just want to get out of here" Aria said.

"We could still make our reservation" Ezra added, immediately causing Ella and Daniella to look at each other, "Or maybe we could do this another time?".

"I'm sure we could all use a bite, right?" Aria asked her sister and mother.

"I'm good" Daniella replied, before Ella could say anything, "Mom, I think I'm going to spend the night at Hanna's tonight".

"Dani listen--".

But Daniella didn't listen to her mom, she just simply turned around and walked towards the Marin, done for the drama for one day.

Next morning, Aria, Daniella, Hanna and Spencer met up at the Hastings manor, with no sign of Emily anywhere.

"I'll try one more time" a worried Hanna said, dialing Emily's number once again.

"Why wasn't Emily at the police station?" a confused Daniella asked, "I mean, do you guys think she told them the cops the truth about what happened that night?".

"If she told them the truth, we wouldn't be standing here" Spencer stated, walking over to her fridge and pulling out a jug of cold lemonade and placing it on the kitchen counter.

As Hanna called Emily, the ringing of her phone was heard from the front door of the Hastings, immediately causing Hanna to go and open the door.

"Em, that was me calling you, where have you been?" Hanna asked, letting a distraught Emily into the house.

"It's okay if you told them the truth, we'll figure something out" Aria assured.

"No, I would never do that to you guys" Emily said.

"Well, they called all four of us into the station" Spencer informed, "Where were you? We were so worried".

"I didn't have my phone with me yesterday" an emotional Emily admitted, "And when I got home last night, the cops were waiting for me, but I told them everything that we agreed on, everything".

"Then why are you so upset?" a confused Hanna asked.

"Because if it weren't for me, we wouldn't be at the wrong place at the wrong time" a guilty Emily replied, "And it could haunt us forever".

"Em, it's fine, okay?" Hanna assured, as the girls sat down, "We've dealt with it".

"I saw you guys at school yesterday, and all I could think about was because of me--".

"No, because of you, nothing, okay?" Spencer interrupted, "Nobody saw us, and if we just stick to our story, we are in the clear".

"I remembered something, about that night" Emily informed her friends, she then went on to tell her friends about having glimpses of a car after seeing a familiar car today.

"That's it?" Hanna asked, "That's all you remember?".

"I found out online that some people forget things because they don't want to remember" Emily said, "And if this is selective, then anything can trigger it--sights, smells, sounds".

"So the car that you saw, it just looked like the car from that night, or it was the car?" a curious Spencer asked.

"I don't know" Emily replied, "I started to walk towards it because I wanted to look inside, but, I got a text, and the person that sent it to me knows I don't remember what happened".

Emily handed her phone over to Spencer who proceeded to read the text out loud, "I bet you remember me".

"It's not stating again, is it?" a worried Daniella asked.

"No, you guys, that's not A" Hanna stated, "Mona is A and Noel was his sidekick and both of them are drooling in their beds at a nut hospital".

"We don't know that for sure" Aria pointed out.

Daniella and Hanna looked at each other, realising it was time to come clean to their friends about their visits.

"We do know for sure" Daniella told her sister, "I've been visiting Noel".

"And I've been visiting Mona" Hanna added.

"What?" the other three shocked girls asked.

"We didn't tell you guys because we knew you'd think we're crazy" Hanna said.

"Yeah" Spencer agreed.

"Mona tried to kill you, Hanna" Aria reminded, she then turned to her sister, "And so did Noel".

Daniella sighed, "I know, but after that incident my nightmares got worse and I started therapy at Dr. Sullivan's again, and she is the one who recommended for me to go visit Noel, to face my fears".

"Yeah, it's confirmed, you need a new therapist" Spencer stated, angry that Dr. Sullivan told Daniella to go visit her tormenter.

"Guys, just trust us, neither Noel or Mona know about what happened that night" Hanna assured.

"Yeah, well, someone does" Emily retorted.

"There's something I need to show you guys" Spencer suddenly said.

The five girls now stood in the now empty A's lair at the Lost Woods Resort, looking at Spencer's laptop in which she showed them a 3D model of everything that used to be in the room.

"Ali's shrine is right over there", Spencer pointed her finger towards the window, she then stood up and walked to another corner of the room, "And then over here she had a row of black hoodies all just perfect hanging, ready for A to grab one and run".

"Mona" Hanna corrected, "Ready for Mona".

"And Noel" Daniella added.

"Yeah" Spencer said, she then pointed towards the door, "And there was a zombie costume hanging on the back of that door, just like the one that attacked Ali on halloween".

"Okay, so you've been coming here all summer trying to remember what was in this room, why?" a confused Emily asked.

Spencer glanced at her other friends, "We have to tell Emily the truth" she said, making Emily look at her friends with a questioning look, wondering what they were hiding from her.

"The morning after they found Maya's body, we came back here" Hanna informed the Fields girl.

"Yeah, to get rid of everything, I know, you told me" Emily reminded.

"We lied to you" Aria admitted.

"We didn't want it to be another thing you had to worry about" Hanna said.

"When we came back here, it was empty" Spencer informed, "The file cabinets, the maps, pictures, Ali's diaries--everything was gone".

"Maybe the police took it" Emily suggested.

"If the police found out about what Mona knows about us, my mom would be in jail" Hanna retorted.

"My dad as well" Daniella added.

"Yeah, Ezra too" Aria said.

"So who took it?" a confused Emily asked.

"Well, there are things that don't really add up" Spencer said, she pointed at Hanna and Daniella, "Like Noel and Mona were with you two when A gave Emily that massage, and there's no way that she could have gotten Ian's body out of the bell tower by herself".

"Maybe she didn't, that night was the night that Noel came back to town" Daniella reminded, "He could have easily helped her".

"Noel came back to town after Ian's body disappeared from the bell tower, I asked his brother and he informed me that he picked Noel up from the airport and both of them were going home when they stopped to see what the commotion was about at the church" Spencer informed.

"Wait, you're saying that you think someone else other then Noel was helping Mona?" a shocked Aria asked.

Spencer pressed the space bar on her laptop, revealing the sketches of the black swan outfit the girls had seen at the masquerade ball, "If the black swan wasn't guilty of something, why would she run from you guys?".

The other four girls stood there in silence, not knowing what to say, they were all too afraid to admit that the possibility of someone other then Noel helping Mona was really high and that someone was still out and about.

Suddenly, the five girls heard Spencer's car alarm go off, after the Hastings girl grabbed her key the five confused girls quickly rushed out the room, as they arrived at Spencer's car, they were shocked seeing all the doors and boot of the car open, after Spencer turned the alarm off, the five best friends quickly rushed over to the car, all wanting to know what was wrong, as they neared the car, they were shocked seeing, the front seats, the back seats and the boot full of pictures of the five girls at Ali's grave the night her body went missing.

As the girls stared at the pictures in shock, the beeping of all their phones caught their attention, dread filling each of the girls heart as they took their phone out of their pockets and read the message they just received.

"Mona played with dolls, I play with body parts" Daniella read out.

"Game on, bitches" Spencer continued.

"A" the five girls read stimuteanously, looking at each other in shock, realising their worst nightmare was back to haunt them once again.
