Third Person's P.O.V.

Everyone thought it was best for just the Berkians to go back home as it would be unwise to leave Helheim's Gate undefended even with all the dragons roaming around. Naturally Hiccup had placed Ashley as the temporary leader of the island and was now repeatedly explaining what was needed to be done while the others prepared for the flight back to Berk.

"So like I said you should check on the dragons in the forest around midday as they—" Hiccup began to explain for the seventh time to Ashley who was now becoming very irritated with her friend as he continued to ramble nonsensically.

"They tend to fight about territory and are hungry around that time. Hiccup you've explained this to me six times already!" Ashley interrupted him as she sighed exasperated. Hiccup paused for a second contemplating what he was going to say next but ultimately decided to ignore her and continued his rant which as a result made Ashley groan in annoyance.

"Alright you got that, but what about the Sea Shocker's and Scauldron's? You have to keep—" Hiccup started to explain but was once again interrupted by Ashley who was now loosing her patience with her paranoid friend.

"Yes! Yes! I know! Scauldron's are Seashocker's predators so if we see any stray to make sure to guide them away to the opposite side of the island! Hiccup I understand! This isn't the first time you've left the island for something!" Ashley called out crossing her arms in agitation giving Hiccup a pointed look. Hiccup smiled nervously as he rubbed the back of his neck realizing his overprotective tendencies of his island and the dragons which trusted him enough to live there and accept him and Toothless as their Prince and Alpha.

"I'm sorry Ash it's just hard every time I leave." Hiccup confessed which earned a chuckle from Keligin who walked behind him and wrapped an arm around his friends shoulder.

"Hiccup you have to relax. You're going back to Berk again and this time they won't tranquilize you." Keligin joked trying to sooth his leader who sighed in defeat.

"Alright, alright.. just remember!" Hiccup shouted pointing his finger at Ashley before being dragged off by Keligin toward Toothless - who was calmly laying down - and the rest of the Berkians. Said Night Fury perked up his head as he saw his brother approaching warily, and sighed in vexation when he notice Hiccup looking back frantically as Ashley and Reaper broke up a fight between a Monstrous Nightmare and a Zippleback.

"You need to calm down. Even I'm not freaking out as much." Toothless growled out which made Hiccup once again sigh in frustration; seeing this Toothless approaches his rider and nudged his head into Hiccup's chest consolingly. "What's wrong?" Toothless asked noticing that it wasn't just the idea of leaving the island that seemed to have his brother worried as they have done it previously so many times.

"What if.. what if my Dad asks me to stay now that mum's back?" Hiccup questioned hesitantly in dragonese so none of the other riders could hear him, however the dragons around looked at him sympathetically for mere moments before returning their attention to their riders. Toothless looked at his friend thoughtfully trying to decide the best solution to help his friend, then sat up straight and looked Hiccup in the eye once he had an idea.

"Do you want to be Chief of Berk?" Toothless asked monotonously, his expression unreadable to even Hiccup, which made him slightly terrified at the thought of not being able to read his brother. The boy in question looked at him in surprise at the sudden seriousness that his dragon possessed, however Toothless still stared at him blankly waiting silently for an answer before he resolved to persisting his rider. "Do you? Do you want to lead them Hiccup? Teach them the things you've learnt over the years we left? Guide them through their struggles? Protect them from anything that threatened the island?" Toothless insistingly questioned his friend, which made Hiccup stand frozen as he was startled at the  various ideas that raced through his head at each of the questions asked; but Toothless' persistence made him want to give some what of an answer rather than remaining quiet.

"I-I.." Hiccup stuttered unsure of his answer, however as he looked up to meet Toothless' gentle yet firm gaze, their eyes interlocking with one another as Hiccup read what his dragon was trying to tell him... it's okay. Then it all came crashing down, all his bewilderment, his love for his village, his irritation at his father, his reluctance to admit that he missed them all.

"Toothless no matter what it's still Berk, and I was their heir... and I left them. Without even trying! I left them and they suffered. They hated me for so long but that's because I never gave them a reason to like me in the first place. I left them all when I could've tried to convince my stubborn father that peace was possible. I could've changed them, but I ran away and the worst part is it don't regret it! Even knowing that I could've tried I don't regret leaving because I met so many amazing people who made me who I was. Our bond grew when we left Toothless, we became so much closer and we dealt with so much more things together. The good and the bad, the constant torture we endured both literally and mentally. I don't regret it but on those cold lonely nights when we would sit in the forest and think, I couldn't help but miss them! Miss my father, miss Gobber, even Snotlout my cousin who constantly beat me to a pulp! He would give me hell but wouldn't ever let it go too far or let any of the other heir's do anything because I knew he cared in his stupid muttonhead brain. It's was all too much so I left them all.. and I know my father wants me to come back... and I want to.. but I can't leave what I made Toothless. I can't leave my friends. I can't leave Helheim's Gate. I won't leave them all behind because I don't think I can take ditching the people I love again." Hiccup blurted out in a rush of growls, warbled, screeches and had crashed to his knees in front of Toothless which had drawn the attention of everyone in the vicinity as they saw Hiccup unload everything he was feeling to his brother. The dragons around looked at Hiccup in shock and surprise at the things he was contemplating but Hiccup couldn't care less about what anyone but Toothless thought in this moment. Hiccup sighed and looked at Toothless and he finally was able to see what he was feeling... Pride.

"You feel better?" Toothless asked as he nuzzled his brothers face lovingly. Hiccup nodded exhausted by the outburst as he looked apologetically to the other dragons, however they all growled out various levels of frustration at the fact that Hiccup would dare think he had to feel sorry for releasing his stress which made Hiccup laugh at the protectiveness.

"You know you don't have to leave forever. Even if you're chief you can visit. This island is still your domain Hiccup. It's our home, before or after Berk it doesn't matter. It's still ours and we can come and go as we please. We'll figure it out don't worry." Toothless whispered so only Hiccup could here his comforting words as he licked Hiccup's face which made him chuckle. Satisfied with the reaction he gave, Toothless hauled his friend up as they walked over to the others. The dragons from the Berk riders all sprinted towards him an nuzzled and licked him affectionately, each one warbling different comforting words to their friend and Prince; successfully making Hiccup laugh and grin at their antics. The Vikings all stared at Hiccup stunned at witnessing the inhuman outbursts that their friend gave, once all the dragons had returned to their rider's sides. Astrid was the first to break from the shock as she saw how uncomfortable Hiccup was - with all the eyes tracing over him - and she walked over to the boy and punched him in the arm; which effectively snapped everyone out of their trance as they heard the yelp that escaped Hiccup's lips.

"Hey!" Hiccup protested accusingly looking at Astrid, but she saw the silent thank you within his eyes when he realized that all the fixated attention was turned off him. Grinning at the accomplishment she snatched his hand in hers and dragged him to the others while Toothless followed snorting at the successful methods Astrid had used.

"I'm starting to understand why you chose her as your mate." Toothless commented smugly once they arrived at the group which made Hiccup blush slightly but nonetheless roll his eyes at the comment his brother gave.

"I have to say son, that was remarkable..." Valka stated in adoration which prevented Hiccup from replying to his dragon as he looked up towards his mother, meeting her gaze.

"I guess.. it must've looked strange from your perspective with all the growls and screeches." Hiccup realized which gained him some remarks of agreement from the group. "Anyhow is everyone ready?" he said deciding to change the subject.

"It's not like we brought much." Snotlout stated which made Fishlegs huff in disappointment at the fact he didn't bring any of his his notebooks to study all the new dragon species and look at the island longingly.

"Don't look so glum Fishlegs." Hiccup pointed out noticing his attitude which caught the young intellect's attention. "I'll give you some of my notebooks when we comeback or I can tell you what we've discovered on our journey's." Hiccup offered politely which made Fishlegs gape open mouthed at the one legged boy.

"Really!?" Fishlegs asked in awe at the sincerity his lost friend was giving him, and seeing Hiccup nod his head made Fishlegs grin in jubilation. "Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!" He squealed repeatedly making some of the others laugh at the excitement while Snotlout rolled his eyes and clamped his hand over the boys mouth.

"Oh shut it Fishface, you can geek out over Hiccup's kindness later." Snotlout said irritated as he removed his hand from a now blushing Fishlegs.

"Before we go.." Ruffnut started to say gaining everyone's attention, and Tuffnut stepped forwards and pointed his finger directly at Hiccup and Astrid who still haven't let go of each others hands. "When in the name of Thor did that happen?" Ruffnut asked grinning satisfied at the reactions of the group. Snotlout looked at the couple in hopelessness and shock at the revelation that his beloved Astrid was holding hand's with his lost cousin. Most of the others just smiled and cheered at the unexpected announcement while Tuffnut was grinning maniacally as his earlier suspicion was confirmed when he saw Hiccup rub the back of his neck nervously while releasing his hand from Astrid's grip and wrapping it around her waist, effectively pulling her closer to him, and his famous lopsided grin plastered on his face.

"Hahaha!" Tuffnut yelled jumping up and down in triumph, while Ruffnut cheered as the duo confirmed that they were together making the twins hypothesis right. Everyone looked at the twins bemused at the over excited reaction.

"I didn't realize that you'd be that happy?" Astrid said suspicious at the abnormal behavior the tricksters were presenting.

"Oh good, so your creeped out too?" Ashley confirmed looking at the Twins bizarrely as they danced strangely around in a circle joyusly.

"What are you two muttonheads so happy about?" Snotlout questioned incredulously as he started to grow frustrated with the contentment.

"Oh nothing." Ruffnut replied trying to act casual but was still wearing a smug look on her face. Hiccup looked at her dead in the eye blankly which made her sigh and shove Tuffnut forwards to explain.

"Ow! Hey!" Tuffnut yelled as he was shoved forwards. "Alright so.. we may or may not.. have... snuckintoyourroomandsawAstrid'shaironyourdesk." Tuffnut reluctantly ejaculated in a quick rush of words which barely anyone was able to register including the dragons.

"Maybe try that again." Keligin chuckled which made Tuffnut smile sheepishly not wanting to confess to his ations.

"Well... we snuck into your room Hiccup... and saw Astrid's hair on your desk." Tuffnut confessed which made Snotlout and Fishlegs cringe at the disclosure of their secretive act. Hiccup looked at them blankly for a few seconds and sighed but didn't appear to be angered by the action.

"Well thanks for the privacy." Hiccup muttered sarcastically which made Tuffnut smile nervously. "It's fine, don't worry about it." Hiccup said forgiving them for the intrusion. Although Astrid looked at the twins skeptically before her eyes glanced over to Snotlout who was trying to act nonchalantly and Fishlegs who was pale as a ghost.

"Let me guess.. this 'we' isn't just you two?" Astrid sighed when Fishlegs started to ramble and blurt out apologies rapidly the moment the question left her lips; while Snotlout looked at Fishlegs in disbelief and facepalmed mumbling something about idiots.

"Oh for Thor's sake Fishlegs it's fine!" Hiccup shouted trying to let the boy shut up and breathe, thankfully he did, and once the fire of regrets ended the nerdy boy relaxed substantially, gulping for air.

"Well that was something.." Toothless muttered rolling his eyes. "We would've found out anyway. They probably left their scent everywhere.." he cringed making Hiccup recoil at the thought, since they both had significantly higher senses it would be pungent as ever, especially considering the Viking lifestyle of lack of bathes.

"What was that about?" Valka asked as she noticed Hiccup's reaction to what the Night Fury said.

"Well since Toothless and I have heightened senses the scent they would've left would be repulsive and as a result would've given away their intrusion regardless of whether they confessed." Hiccup clarified which made Astrid, Ashley, and Keligin gag at the thought of smelling Vikings in worse conditions than they already are in.

"We're going to need to do something about that smell." Toothless stated which made Hiccup nod in agreement.

"Maybe you could rub lavender all over the place?" Meatlug provided which Hiccup took into serious consideration and Toothless was already trying to remember the best places that lavender grew on the island.

"That would probably be the best thing, thanks Meatlug." Hiccup smiled thanking the Gronckle for the suggestion who grinned at the appreciation.

"I told you about the scents..." Tuffnut whispered in triumph at another accomplishment, as the twins both high-fived in victory.

"Well as eventful as this was we should probably get going before it's midday." Hiccup declared which made everyone nod and climb on their dragons after saying their farewells.

"Hiccup don't do anything stupid and try to stay safe for once." Ashley begged as she hugged Hiccup goodbye, clutching to his shirt desperately trying not to imagine what dangerous things he would run into.

"Well I'll certainly try but I don't think Loki is going to give up his favorite project." Hiccup joked which earned him a punch from both Astrid and Ashley on alternating arms. "Ow!" he proclaimed as the two girls grinned at each other in victory while Hiccup looked between them both as the realization dawned on him and he sighed in despair. "Oh Thor there's two of them now."

"I think I'm going to be getting use to you." Ashley admitted smirking which made Astrid cross her arms smugly at the acceptance. Keligin laughed at the exchange before pulling Hiccup into a side hug which made him wince from the recent pain that was inflicted on his body.

"Yeah that's going to be painful for you." Keligin added on which made Hiccup roll his eyes.

"Thanks for the vote of confidence." Hiccup stated sarcastically before looking both Keligin and Ashley in the eye. "Take care guys, I'll be back soon." Hiccup promised sincerely as he pulled away from them both and mounted Toothless while Astrid walked over and mounted Stormfly. "Also keep the others in order so they don't blow this place up." Hiccup asked making the three of them laugh at some memories from the pranks which were pulled.

Then the dragons all took to the air, a gust of wind being emitted from bellow them as they soared away, in exception to Toothless and Hiccup who hovered above the island and traded smug glances with one another. Subsequently the two released a spine-chilling roar that reverberated across the land signalling the Prince and Alpha's departure; not long after thousands of contrasting roars, screeches and growls echoed back from the island which made Hiccup and Toothless laugh in contentment before they flew high into the clouds and spun around, speeding off into the horizon to catch up with the other riders on their way once again back to the Isle of Berk.
