They were all huddle around the embers of the burning fire, the flames rhythmically dancing together. Tiny sparks and ashes flew into the air followed by a faint trail of smoke.  Valka, Hiccup, Astrid, Keligin and Ashley were all sitting around it, their respective dragons behind them, either asleep or eavesdropping. They had been talking and explaining a few things about themselves to Valka and how things have been and changed on both Berk and Helllheim's Gate.

"Hiccup how much did you tell her?" Keligin asked carefully trying not to be too suspicious incase she didn't know much. Valka was at first confused by the question but soon realised it was about his powers.

"Oh I kinda told her about all of it cause she saw me shapeshift... and I had no clue how to explain that without spilling it.." Hiccup said scratching his neck awkwardly.

"I mean it was gonna get out eventually. She is you mother after all." Toothless said giving an impression of a shrug.

"True." Hiccup said, whilst scratching Toothless on the head as he leant his back against his dragons body for support. He saw Valka still shocked by his ability's to speak to dragons.

"I don't think I will get use to that." Valka said making the four other young adults laugh.

"Don't worry, you will." Astrid said reassuringly giving a small smile to Valka which she returned. Soon later they were all involved in a conversation of their own, leaving Hiccup to talk to the dragons.

"Hey Haddock. Your girlfriend is getting along with your mum." Toothless said smirking and nudged his rider.

"Shut up.." Hiccup growled trying to hide his blush. He hadn't gotten use to the fact that his long time crush Astrid Hofferson was now his girlfriend. The other dragons laughed at their friends.

"Don't worry Hiccup I'm sure she wouldn't leave all this 'raw Viking-ness' all alone." Shockwave said chuckling causing Reaper to give him an eye roll.

"You've been hanging out with Hiccup and Toothless too much. Their sarcasm is contagious." Reaper said, which cause the dragons and Hiccup to burst into laughter.

Once he recovered he looked up to see the confused faces of his once lost mother and friends. He just gave them a sheepish grin and shrugged.

"Dork." Astrid said smiling as she punched his shoulder, Hiccup pouted as he rubbed his shoulder.

"Not my fault, Milady." Hiccup said chuckling, and Astrid rolled her eyes.

"So what's gonna happen now?" Ashley asked. Valka gave her a thoughtful glance. She had wanted to see Stoick and Berk but how would they react? She could've come back.. but she thought it would've been safer for Hiccup if she didn't. She was wrong though. He had left his home and became his true self. A dragon trainer.

"Hey mum!" Hiccup said waving his hand in front of her face and snapping his fingers. She inhaled a small breath and blinked a couple times. "Thought we lost you for a moment."

"No I'm still here. Just thinking..." Valka said. Cloudjumper saw his riders confusion and cooed nudging her. Valka gave her dragon a reassuring smile and scratched under his chin.

"Well I recon we should probably head home before the others start to worry." Keligin said yawning.

"He's not wrong you know." Ashley said looking over to Hiccup, "We wouldn't want to scare them."

"Yeah..." Hiccup said sighing thoughtfully, he looked over at the others to see their faces reeked of tiredness. "Okay, here's what we're gonna do." He said getting everyone's attention.

"We'll sleep here for the night, because for Thor's sake you need the rest. Then tomorrow we'll head out." Hiccup conformed which everyone nodded their heads in agreement.

"We'll sleep here with our dragons, it'll be inconvenient otherwise." Hiccup stated and got up allowing Toothless to burn a ring of fire into the ground to warm it up. Soon after he lay down, allowing Hiccup to lean against him.

Meanwhile the others were getting comfortable with their dragons and Valka blew the campfire out. She turned to look at her son and his friends to soon see the girl with golden blonde hair resting near her son with her dragon.

Valka went to lie down next to Cloudjumper and as he wrapped a wing around her as a blanket she saw Hiccup call over the girl, Astrid.

"Hey babe what is it?" Astrid whispered quietly, trying to get out of the state of sleep she was in. Hiccup lightly chuckled, trying not to wake anyone.

"You look cold." Hiccup murmured as he slid Astrid to lie next to him. She didn't protest and instead rested her head on his shoulder as he wrapped an arm around her waist. Soon the two dozed off to deep slumber and Valka smiled at them.

Her son may have grew up without anyone on his side, without a mother, without friends, and he did runaway from his home but he was raised to be a kind person and that he was.
