Esmerald woke up feeling kind of bad for some reason. Her nose was stuffy, her throat hurt, and she was coughing and sniffling every few seconds. I'm sure it's nothing. It's probably just my allergies acting up. She thought as she forced herself out of bed. That could be true though. It was spring and the light green troll's allergies always get really bad in spring because of the pollen. She took a pill for her allergies and forced herself to get dressed - even though she was extremely tired and very cold.

She grabbed a hoodie and a pair of long sweat pants from her closet and went to make some tea thinking that could sooth her soar throat. She really didn't wanna be sick because today is the day when her now boyfriend (yes I said boyfriend! My life is complete!!🥺🥺💖🥺💖🥺💖) Ocean was gonna take her somewhere fun. He wouldn't tell her where because he knew how much she loved surprises. She was extremely excited to find out where they were going, but she knew if Ocean thought she was sick he'd make her stay home. I can't tell him anything!

Once she finished making her tea, she grabbed a blanket and sat down on the couch. Ocean wouldn't arrive for another few hours so she had some time to relax and try every in hopes that she would would be feeling better once her boyfriend (can't stop saying it! Someone help!!💖💖🥺🥺) arrived.

She put on a movie to watch and started reading about allergy home remedies. Oh frosting nasal spray is on here! I hate using that! She checked the time. Almost seven am. She still had another three hours. Okay what else is in here? Certain foods help stop allergies? Gross! Fish and salmon is on here! I hate eating fish! I ain't trying that remedy! Ginger is on here. Is eating a gingerbread cookie the same thing? Her thoughts were interrupted by a knock on her pod door. She forced herself to get up and went to answer it.

Once she opened the door she was met with Ocean's smiling face. He was hiding something behind his back. "Guess what I got?!" Esmerald shrugged. She opened her mouth to guess, but closed it when her throat started hurting. "Are you feeling okay? Your usually so excited to guess surprises." Ocean asked. She nodded. "Yep. Perfectly fine." Her voice was barely a whisper. Ocean's light green eyes were filled with concern. "Are you sure? We can just hang out here if you not feeling well."

The light green troll quickly shook her head. She grabbed a pen and a piece of paper and quickly jotted something down. When she finished she held it out for Ocean to read.

I'm fine. It's just my allergies because of spring.

"Are allergies supposed to be this severe? Because most of the time your able to talk when that happens."

Esmerald quickly jotted something else down.

Sometimes that can happen. It depends on how bad the pollen is.

Ocean stared at her face. "Why are you pale?"

Why do you ask so many questions?!

"Gee I don't know? Maybe because I love you? Look we really don't have to go out. We can just watch a movie or play a board game."

No! Please just trust me! I'm fine!

"If you were fine, wouldn't you be able to talk?"

The light green troll face palmed and use her pen to point at the word 'allergies' again. She was starting to feel dizzy, but refused to say anything about it to Ocean. She had to come up with some way to convince him. She just didn't know how. Suddenly she started to lose her balance and nearly fell over. She grabbed a shelf to keep her balance. "Okay it's obvious you are sick. You can't even keep your balance now." Ocean said.

Esmerald reached for the pen but couldn't stand anymore. She fell over and would've landed hard on the floor, had it not been for Ocean catching her. "Okay, okay. Yeah your not going anywhere but back to your bed."

The light green was too tired to argue at that point, so she just let her boyfriend believe that was sick, even though she was nearly one hundred percent sure it was her allergies. Once they were in her room she climbed on the bed and face planted.  Of all days my allergies pick now to act up?? C'mon! I'd scream if it didn't hurt my throat so much! Ocean noticed how aggravated she was. "It's not that bad. I mean c'mon you love relaxing." Esmerald didn't say anything. She managed to grab her pen and write down something else on the paper.

I'm sorry.

"Sorry for what? It's not your fault your sick."

Esmerald wrote again.

I told you it's my allergies. And I'm sorry that we can't do anything fun now.

"If it'll make you feel better I'll say it's your allergies, but we both know your sick. And who says we can't have fun here? You've got board games right? And what about a movie?"

Esmerald knew he was trying to make her feel better, but it wasn't really working. She face planted on her bed again. "Okay stop doing that." Ocean gently lifted her head up. "This'll be fun. I promise." He smiled reassuringly, hoping that Esmerald might smile back. She didn't. Instead she hid under her blanket. Ocean acted casual and got up. "Alright suit yourself. I got the new 'Luca' (ASarahLikeOthers yes I said Luca 💖😏)movie you've been wanting to see, but if you don't want to that's fine with me." He smirked because he knew Esmerald had been dying to see that movie. He started counting down in his head. Three...two...one! Esmerald slid a note out from under the blanket.

Did you say 'Luca'??

"Yep. Too bad your not in the mood for it." He smirked. Esmerald slid another note out.

Not in the mood to watch 'Luca'?? Are you crazy??

"Well if you wanna watch it I've got the movie right here." He held it up. "I was hiding the movie tickets so we could watch it in the theater, but I also brought a copy of the movie just in case."

Esmerald slowly climbed out of the blanket.

Really??

"Do you really think I would lie about Luca?"

No.

"Well do you wanna watch it?"

Duh! Of course I do!

The light green troll started coughing, but shrugged it off. I'm not letting anything get in the way off watching Luca. I just hope Ocean doesn't notice. That cough syrup I take for my soar throats when my allergies act up is disgusting!

"Do you need some cough syrup? You've been coughing a lot."

Nope! No thanks!

She coughed again and it felt like her throat was on fire. "Okay a little cough syrup wouldn't hurt." Ocean suggested.

Says the troll who doesn't have to take it!

He laughed at his girlfriend's response. "C'mon it can't kill you."

The taste of it can!

That made him laugh even more. "Leave it to you to come up with an excuse like that." The light green troll glared at him.

I ain't taking it!

"Fine with me. Guess you won't be able to sing ever again."

I know what your doing and it won't work!

"What do you mean?" He asked innocently. "What am I trying to do?"

You think you can get me to take that gross cough syrup by saying I'll never be able to sing again! It won't work! I'm smarter than that!

"Fine you don't have to take it." He shrugged plainly. "Just don't get upset when you can't sing anymore."

Esmerald groaned but held her hand out for the bottle.

You are so lucky I love you!

Ocean laughed. "I know." He gave her the bottle. The light green troll stared at the bottle with great disgust. It's supposed to taste like cherry, but that's not how it tastes to her. She sighed heavily and quickly swallowed some of it. That was disgusting! Who invented this?! She started gagging. She picked up the pen and write something down, then showed Ocean.

That was disgusting! Who came up with this??

Ocean laughed. "Beats me." He gave her a cup of juice to erase the taste. She gladly took it and swallowed it fast. She sighed of relief once she was no longer able to taste the syrup. Ocean handed a box of tissues and a bag.

Thanks, but what's the bag for?

"So we can have a place for the used tissues." He answered as he put the movie in the DVD player. He grabbed the remote, climb onto the bed, sat crisscross leaned against a few pillows. Esmerald saw the movie was starting so she climbed beside him and leaned her head on his shoulder. She felt really tired, but had one more thing to tell Ocean. She grabbed her paper and pen and wrote one more thing. She slid it over to him.

Thank you. I love you.

Ocean turned slightly and saw she was already asleep on his shoulder. He smiled. "I love you too." He whispered.
