Ch 5: And I thought chivalry was dead

Hope's POV:

I let out a relieved sigh as I flopped down on a seat at the back of the ferry.

Including me there were only three people present in the ferry.
One was a middle-aged man with a long beard, picking his nose. And the other an old man with grey hair wearing unbelievably large spectacles.

I am not much of a  person who judges people, but where did he even get those?
They're like the size of a meatball.

Okay, that may or may not be an exaggeration.

When i arrived here to board the ferry, it had almost left without me but luckily the person who was steering it stopped for me when I yelled at him to wait for me at the top of my lungs.

And I thought chivalry was dead.

It was only a 15 minutes ferry ride from Gelnesia to the nearest country.

Plan was, once I reached there I would quickly get a taxi and head to a motel where I would stay for the rest of the night.

I was already very tired and my eyes were getting drowsy. It was becoming hard to keep them open and that's why I had to get some sleep as soon as possible.

It felt like eternity before i finally arrived at my destination and left the ferry.

I was not familiar to this place. At all.
All I knew was that I needed to get a taxi to take me to the nearest motel.
But surely it was not easy to do that at this hour.

And so I did what anyone else would do in this situation. I started walking in hopes of finding a taxi or a bus.

After 2 minutes of walking, my body started heating up.

It was the last week of May and the  atmosphere was pretty hot.
If it were day instead of night right now, I'm sure I would be sweating like a pig.

And so I took off my hoodie, which left me in my yellow dress which went down to my knees.

After taking off the hoodie, I slinged the backpack over my shoulder again and continued walking.

The joy I felt was surreal when I spotted a taxi coming right towards me from the opposite direction.

And in less than a second, I found myself waving my hands like a madwoman, indicating the taxi driver to stop which he did, thankfully.

"Where to?" He asked me when I slid on the backseat of the taxi.

"How far is the nearest motel from here?" I questioned.

"20 minutes."

"Okay, great." I replied and he started driving.

For the next few minutes I zoned out of my surroundings as I took out my phone to book my plane ticket to California for tomorrow.
The quickest flight was at 6:40 A.M.

But that would not work out for me. At  all, since it was already 2:30 in the morning and if I didn't get at least 6 hours of sleep, my mind will not be able to work properly tomorrow.

Now we don't want that, do we?

So I search for the next flight time which was 11:00 a.m.

I smiled. That's better now.

After booking the ticket, I was just about to put my phone back when the taxi driver informed me that we had reached the destination.

I paid the driver the money and then made my way to the motel called 'Riverview motel' to check in.

That night I went to sleep peacefully thinking that everything was going to change starting tomorrow.
