Chapter Eight
KARKAT'S POV
He took a small breath of air before he collided with him. Eyes wide as he stared into the shades. Nothing. He couldn't believe this was happening. Dave did, he made that for him. And that just made everything feel so much more worth it.
It took him a while to react to the blondes movements. His hands sliding up to reach at the cape covered shoulders. His strained face softening. Dave's arms moving to wrap around Karkat's waist.
No matter how cheesy this sounded, it felt like one of his RomComs happening in reality. So much so he wasn't sure if it was real. But the warmth as he pressed against him, he with out a doubt real.
The moment felt like it lasted forever, that is until a malicious giggle was voiced at the Entrance of Cantown. Dave immediately pulled away that that and turned to see her. Karkat groaned and pinched the bridge of his noise. Fucking damnit.
"Well well well, it seems I've interrupted something?" Terezi said, leaning against the door of the can filled room. Dave was absolutely silent.
"UGH, why is it that every time I'm busy doing something, someone decides to come in and SCREW me over," he grumbled. His face feeling hot from being caught by the likes of Pyrope.
"Hey, I was just looking for something and happened to walk in and- is that razzberry and inappropriate glee I smell Vantas?!" He questioned, flashing a wicked smile. A hum of amusement coming out of her.
He sighed, Dave saying absolutely nothing. He looked not even the slightest embarrased. But when could he never tell what the blonde was thinking.
"Smell this," he said flicking her off. "I don't have time or the patience to deal with your mindless ass fuckery right now, so grab your STUPID chalk and hightail it out of here before I shit miles of rage snakes to come and devour your corpse," he threatened, give her a cold stare. He was not amused or even at the slightest fine with her barging in. And it irritated him further when she erupted into giggles.
"Seems that coolkid doesn't want to own up either..." she cackled, going to the worn cardboard box and popping it into her sylladex. Dave shaked at that. What's his deal? He slightly shook him. Looking up at him.
He could see from how close he was standing, the blonde's cheeks a thin hue of pink. Holy fuck. He was embarrased. Then Dave finally spoke up,
"I could say the same about you,"
"What do you mean by that??"
He took his arms of Karkat, crossing them firmly across his chest. He slightly missed them, but he could tell he needed to emphasis this.
"You can't play anyone for a fool, everyone know you've got stuff planned down in juggalo town," he retorted, raising an eyebrow. He went there. And it made him look even more ho- I mean cool.
The sly devil's smile dropped to a grimace as she heard the truth. HA SERVES THE STALKING TWO FACE RIGHT!!! HAHA! He watched the two have a stare down as Dave kept rambling on about the topic. She was right next to the pair, hands clenched.
"Oh and don't even get me started on Vri-" Her hand smacked across his mouth.
"I get the point now... thanks," Dave moved her hand away as she attempted to put it back on. Karkat felt the sudden urge to break the two apart. GOD FUCKING DAMNIT QUADRANTS, YOU SELF CENTERED GRUB SWALLOWING LOW LIFE. Instead he yelled.
"IM RIGHT FUCKING HERE, QUIT YOUR SQUABBLING AND SHOVE YOUR IGNORANT WRIGGLERS PLAY BACK INTO THE FUCK DEEP HOLE IT CAME FROM," and with that they were quiet, staring at him. Finally, someone was seeing his authority.
"Terezi, have a decent thought for once and, GET THE FUCK OUT," and with that she burst into a fit of giggles. uuuuuurrRrrrRrrGGGGHHHHHHH.
Dave's POV
His face felt completely numb with embarrassment, Terezi laughing. Again. He was never going to be able to live this down. And Karkat. He was completely enveloped
with aggravation at Terezi.
"Don't you have some chalk to snort or something?" He stated, a hint of irritation in his words. Terezi made a quick glance to him and Karkat. Her hair whipping around as she turned to the door. Sharp teeth curled into that smile of her's.
As she said one last remark, her voice bouncing off the garrish hallways,
"Now I know EXACTLY what I'm drawing," followed by a teasing snarky laugh. He shook his head,
"I can't believe her..." He mumbled to himself, looking down at Karkat's hands, taking them in his. Which was semi awkward for him, but he just went for it.
Karkat seemed to fidget as he went along with him. Dave tilting his neck to rest his chin on Karkat's head. Karkat opened his mouth to say something, starting with a loud sigh,
"Dave what are we?"
"What do you mean?" He questioned again, lifting his head to land his gaze on the troll next to him, shuffling his footing. Making sure he didn't trip on a can or something stupid like that.
The troll made a quick eye contact with him then looked away to answer the question. His face flushed in a bright salmon, bangs hanging in his face.
"Well, nothing like this has ever occured to me. That I don't know what kind of quadrant..." He said more, but Dave left that sentence before he could finish. The word was triggered. It was triggered. So he just focused on the features of his face.
His mouth moving to form words that went numb to his hearing, sharp teeth visible. His gray irises dancing around, looking everywhere but the Knight's direction. Filled to the brim with emotions emanating off of them. Mostly just breathing the knowledge of his romance. Eyebrows knitted together, quirking and forming into different expressions as he continued his thoughts. His black hair, coming down, getting so long now that he had to sweep some of his bangs to the side. His overall hairstyle messy, but he suited it. Horns, nubby as ever. They kinda looked like candyco-
"Dave,"
His name brought him out of his thoughts he looked at Karkat, piercing eyes trained on him.
"Why do we need to explain it? Why can't we just... be?"
Karkat looked at him, his face unreadable.
"We'll figure it out eventually,"
