Peace
I found peace by the trees of God
Which pass by my eyes like a memory.
And as my father spoke of forgiveness,
I wished forgiveness would set him free.
The darkness of the world threatens
His son, who looks on near fearlessly
And smiles at the prospect of forever;
For youth speaks of eternity.
I found peace by the trees of God
After He bit at the strength of my bones.
There’s something dark about death;
Knowing the lies behind the tombstones;
Knowing the truth behind the hopes:
We all (do not) go to Heaven.
