Who Am I?

Zoe is a Watty award-winning author, a founding organizer of Writers Connect, as well as a mentor for the Wattys Bootcamp Mentorship program. She lives in Southern California, where she enjoys writing stories that make people feel good. Whether it's romance, fantasy, or science fiction, you can rest easy knowing she loves happy endings. 6 QUESTIONS

1. What prompted you to start writing on Wattpad and what do you like most about the platform as a writer?
I first heard of Wattpad from the blog of Marissa Meyer (author of Cinder), so I decided to look into it. Curious, I dabbled a little by posting a few short stories. Later, after posting a full novel getting serious about building an audience, I am now at 9.4K followers, by far the biggest audience I have on any platform. That's what I like most about Wattpad! The community interactions are unparalleled.

2. What has been your most rewarding Wattpad experience?
It would have to be the comments I receive from readers telling me how my story affected them. My goal is to make people feel good from reading my stories, so when I get confirmation that it's happening, my mission has been accomplished!

3. Tell us one thing about your writing process that has helped you the most.

That feeling of holding a paperback—MY story!—in my hands for the first time. I did that. I put my mind to making it happen, and now it's out in the world.

4. Which of your books is your favourite, and why that one?
You're asking me to pick my favorite child? Shame on you. I could never—okay fine it's Becoming Bionic. It's kind of the black sheep of my varied writing history because it's YA Science Fiction and Wattpad had little interest in it. So I moved it to Radish where it can be found today. I will probably put my favorite child into Kindle Unlimited in the near future, so hopefully more people can appreciate it.

Why do I love Becoming Bionic? It's full of my favorite things: self-discovery, making friends, humor, fun interpersonal dynamics, and learning you're more than the average person. I was partially inspired by Cinder, which is a cyborg Cinderella tale I had read years ago, and also a YA sc-fi story. It seems fitting that the favorite book I have written was inspired by the very author who unknowingly introduced me to Wattpad!
