Broken Ties
Isle of the Lost
Next Morning
Anthony:
River:
Gaige:
On River and Uma's ship, Ben and Anthony were tied up to two posts.
Harry jumped down next to Ben and Anthony, stroking Ben in the neck/cheek with his hook, speaking really close to him, smiling in amusement. "Coochy, coochy, coo." He leaned an arm against the beam Anthony was tied to, tilting his head, making a face. "How's it feel to be the king now, eh? Or princes like your brother here and little brother Bane back home?"
Harry laughed, walking around Anthony's beam toward some ropes next to Ben's beam, where Gaige was standing.
Uma and River walked closer.
"Give it a rest, Harry," River told him. "Give it a rest."
Gaige looked at Ben and Anthony mockingly. "We don't want damaged goods."
Harry hung onto the ropes, pointing at Ben and Anthony with his hook. "You said that I could hook them."
"We said at noon," Uma told him.
Harry dropped down from the ropes, moving to stand between Ben and Anthony mockingly, dangling a pocket watch in front of them by its chain. "20 more minutes."
Anthony leaned as close as he could since he was still tied up, to look at the time. "That says 11:30."
Gaige smirked. "Ah. You better hope your friends come through. Hmm, guessing when your friends had to double back to Auradon for the magic wand, that they would've run into your little brother Bane and Ara's little sister Mari."
"You know that much about them?" Anthony asked.
"Just that Ara and Mari are related to River and Uma since Ursula is their great aunt," Harry answered. "Triton's sister. Making Ara and Mari second cousins to River and Uma."
Anthony and Bane looked stunned by that information, taking it in.
"We heard you guys talking about Izzy and Yeva," Anthony told them. "They were your friends too?"
"They were," Uma answered. "They're not anymore."
"What happened?" Ben asked.
Gaige crossed his arms. "Let's just say that they tried to do the impossible."
Uma nodded. "Izzy and Yeva tried to be friends with us, and be friends with Mal, Malia, Evie, Jay and Carlos at the same time when we were kids. That was until Mal and Malia humiliated me and River just so that we would cut ties with Yeva and Izzy because they were friends with them. Thinking that they were too good to be our friends, and knowing that Izzy and Yeva wouldn't cut the ties to us themselves, so they decided to cut the ties for them. All so that Mal, Malia, Evie, Jay and Carlos could have Izzy and Yeva for themselves."
Ben and Anthony looked shocked by this revelation.
"That's the type of girls you have for girlfriends, boys," Gaige mocked. "Cutting Izzy and Yeva's ties with us because they wouldn't do it themselves. If it wasn't for Mal and Malia humiliating Uma and River like that, we wouldn't have broken ties. We would still be friends with Izzy and Yeva."
"Izzy and Yeva don't know what Mal and Malia did to break your friendships, do they?" Ben asked. "Do Evie, Jay and Carlos know?"
"Nope," River answered. "The only ones that ever knew were me, Uma, Harry, Gaige, Gil, Mal and Malia. We never told Izzy and Yeva, and obviously they didn't either. They didn't tell Evie, Jay and Carlos either because they didn't want them to tell them. They don't want to risk losing Izzy and Yeva, do they?Doesn't matter anymore anyway." Harry remembered the night before when Izzy said something just like that, pacing. River noticed. "Gaige, take Harry for a walk."
Harry showed Ben and Anthony his watch. "19 minutes to go now."
Gaige rolled his eyes, pulling Harry away. "Let's go."
Gaige smirked at Ben and Anthony sarcastically, winking, walking away with Harry.
Ben and Anthony sighed, looking at Uma and River.
"I get that none of you deserved what happened with Izzy and Yeva, and Mal and Malia doing what they did, and that Izzy, Yeva, Evie, Jay and Carlos don't deserve being lied to for so long," Anthony told them. "None of you deserved being here on the island."
River gestured around. "This? This island is a prison, thanks to your father. And don't pretend to look out for us. Because no one's looking out for us. It's just me and Uma."
"So this isn't your mom's plan?" Ben asked. Uma scoffed. "Aren't you wearing her necklace, Uma? I'm guessing River's is like it since it comes from your family."
River held her necklace. "This one is from our aunt Morgana."
"And our mom and aunt don't care about us either," Uma told them. She looked away. "Well, not unless Mom needs someone for the night shift."
Ben and Anthony raised their eyebrows. "Ouch."
River glared. "We don't need your pity."
"No, you certainly don't," Anthony agreed. "You're both very resourceful. I don't see you tied up."
Uma chuckled, standing. "All right, so let's trash talk Mal and Malia."
"I'd rather talk about you two," Ben replied.
River smirked, tilting her head, pointing at them. "Mm, funny and gentlemen. I really hope we don't have to feed you two to the fishes."
"Well, you don't," Anthony pointed out. "Set us free, and we'll go back together."
Uma had her foot propped up on a board, checking her nails, her eyes widening when she heard that, turning to face them, smiling sarcastically. "Oh, so now we get an invite? Gee, I wonder why." She rolled her eyes. "When you brought Izzy, Yeva, Mal, Malia, Evie, Jay and Carlos to Auradon, that's as mad as I've ever been in my life. River, too. And trust me, we've been plenty mad."
Uma patted Anthony on the cheek sarcastically, turning away.
Anthony looked thoughtful. "We never thought of it like that before. That we could've hurt the people we didn't pick. Our plan, with Bane's help, was to start with seven kids and bring more people over. Izzy and Yeva, they kept telling us to follow through with that plan. Fighting to get it done, though they couldn't do it themselves." Uma and River nodded knowingly. "But I guess I was busy being king, and Ben and Bane were busy with prince stuff. I know that sounds lame. I'm so sorry. Uma, River, you're both leaders. So are we. Come to Auradon and be part of the solution."
River stepped closer, looking from Ben to Anthony. "Me and Uma? Part of your solution?" She leaned closer mockingly, shaking her head. "Nah." She looked at them in disgust, backing away. "We don't need you." She looked at Uma, smirking. "We're gonna get there on our own." Uma smirked, nodding in agreement. River called out. "Gaige! Harry!" Harry and Gaige walked over. River kissed the necklace around her neck, lightly reaching out to hold the pendant of Uma's necklace too. "Let's see what these puppies can do."
Uma and River smirked,walking away.
Gaige chuckled, leaning against a railing on the ship. "Things are about to go down, River. Literally and figuratively."
River leaned against the railing next to him. "Yep. How's my first mate?"
Gaige winked at River, pulling on his collar. "First date if you're lucky."
River laughed, smiling, looking down. "Shut up."
Gaige smirked. "River, you know, try as you might, you can't deny. It's all apart of the game. Question and rejection that we've played forever." He leaned in closely, speaking in a rough tone that she tried not to smile at. "And darling, I just have to ask again. How are we going to do this?"
River smirked, winking at Gaige, giving him a confident smile. "Leave that to me and Uma. Just get ready, Gaige."
"Well, the River I know could talk her way out of hell, which is exactly what you're going to do, aren't you?" Gaige asked. "For us all. That's is what you want, isn't it? You want us to win. But even I know that sometimes, we don't always win."
"What is it that you want, Gaige?" River asked.
Gaige shrugged. "I don't know. You."
River gave him a look, but tried to hide a smile. "I already told you that the Isle is no place for love."
"Well, if we get that wand, we won't have that problem anymore, will we?" Gaige replied.
River looked down. "Maybe. Maybe not. I just want to free our people. I want to free you, Uma, Gil, Harry. Can't you see, Gaige? I never felt anything close to good before. Let alone love. I just... I don't know what to do."
Gaige nodded knowingly, stepping closer. "Look, River. You're not completely evil. None of us are, though we all try to convince others that we are so we can survive in a place like this day by day. We're just doing everything we can to free our people who don't deserve to be here. And about what you said... I can tell that's not what your heart is saying. Listen to your heart, not your head." River looked at him thoughtfully for a moment as Gaige returned the gaze, the look between them deep, revealing and intense. They both managed a small smirk. Gaige held out his hand for River to lead the way to the front of the ship, giving her a hand as she walked up the steps. "Captains first."
River nodded, smirking, winking down at Gaige. Gaige, still holding River's hand, brought it to his lips to kiss. River pressed her lips together over a smirk, trying to hide a blush as she walked away. Gaige turned after her, smirking, chuckling, shaking his head, starting to follow.

Old Garage
Izzy, Yeva, Mal, Malia and Evie were waiting. Ara, Jay, Carlos, Mari and Bane made it back with the limo, getting out of the limo.
"I"ll get the swords," Jay told them.
"Okay," Ara agreed.
Izzy saw the two younger ones. "Bane! Mari!"
Mari ran over to hug Izzy, Yeva, Mal, Malia and Evie. "Bane and I made them bring us."
"Oh, we figured you would after the astral projection thing earlier," Mal told them.
"Hi," Malia told them.
Yeva smirked. "Welcome to the Isle."
"It's good to see you," Evie greeted.
Bane smiled. "Thanks."
Evie took Ara and Mari by the hands. "And I swear the next time I have more time to make outfits for you two, they will definitely be more mermaid than anything. You've gotta have that extra Scottish mermaid princess archeress look."
Mari and Ara smiled in amusement. "Okay, Evie."
The others smiled as well, all amused.
Mari and Bane looked around, taking in the sight of the Isle for the first time.
"Do you ever think about how lucky we are to be in Auradon?" Mari asked.
Bane nodded. "All the time."
Ara, Izzy, Yeva, Mal, Malia and Evie also shared another hug.
Jay and Carlos opened the trunk to get the swords, finding out that Dude had snuck into the trunk.
Jay sighed. "And Dude."
Carlos gave Dude a look. "I told you to stay."
"I flunked obedience class," Dude replied.
"Great," Jay told them sarcastically. "And he can still talk."
Carlos sighed, petting Dude, taking him out of the trunk. "You're lucky I love you. Come on."
Jay closed the trunk. The boys walked over to the girls.
Yeva took the fake Fairy Godmother's wand from Ara. "Ooh, here, let me see. Wow, what a beauty."
"It's noon," Malia informed.
"All right, are we ready?" Izzy asked.
Evie held up the bag with the smoke bombs. "Yeah."
Ara nodded. "Then let's do this."
"Yep," Mal agreed.
They all nodded, walking through the tunnel tube.
Carlos stopped Dude from following. "Stay!" Dude whined, groaning. "I mean it!"
They all prepared to go through the tube to go meet up with the pirates to save Ben and Anthony, knowing that there could have been a really bad battle for them to all get away, but all prepared to fight it, and knowing they could win as long as they were together.
