once we were watching PK in a houseful theatre

when it happened. the scene we rush past

is aamir khan, in dust and ash, holding onto

the shoe of the dead sanjay dutt. people yell

at us for coming in the way of their entertainment.

no car stopped. we got into an autorickshaw

that raced to the hospital and then charged

twice the usual price. we couldn't yell back.

we gave him whatever was asked of us.
