Chapter 1 - 101

Jack's Line:

I remember the first time when I saw someone move like they were from another planet, couldn’t keep my eyes away. When I was little, my dad took me to watch a jam session in the neighborhood, it started out small but word spread. Soon some of the best dancers around had shown up to compete and something they eventually called the streets. And I got a front row sit in history. I wanted to glide and spin, and fly like they did. But it didn’t come easy. My dad told me, ‘don’t give up, just be you, because life’s too short to be anybody else.’ He was right. When I’m fourteen my dad got sick, then a couple months, he was gone. Everything changed…including streets.

People were walking in the subway, the train stopped and some people got in. The door was about to close when a man wearing a black scarf stopped the door from closing and walked in. He looked around and saw that everyone was sitting down. He walked to the end, an old man wearing a black hat was watching him.

Some people were texting, some reading and some taking their pills. The man turned around, his back facing everyone and the old man was wondering, what was he doing? Then the man turned around, wearing a mask that was coloured with black and red paint. He took out two drumsticks and banged the wall, making a little music. Everyone turned their attention towards him. Another man wearing a black mask got up and removed the coat that he was wearing. He threw it at the woman that was sitting down next to him and the woman threw the coat away in disgust.

The music came on and he begin dancing. He did backflips, and later he sat down next to a dark-skined girl who stood up in surprise. He stood up and jumped to each seat, startling the people that were in the train.

A man wearing a business suit with glasses was looking confused. The man came and sat down next to a boy with white hair and it looked like he was trying to steal his things. The boy was struggling and saying, “Stop it! Stop it!” Everyone was watching, “Somebody help, get off!” the man with the business suit tried to stop him. The white haired boy turned around with a black and white mask on his face, the businessman with the glasses looked shocked.

The white haired boy slide down the floor and danced with the others. Two girls too had masks on their faces and started dancing. The dark-skined girl too had a mask on and started dancing. The old man and the other people in the train were getting confused by them and were a bit frightened. The police came and opened the door, trying to catch them but they all had already ran out of the train.
The man with the business suit ran out after them, the cops came to him and he told them to go after them.

Some of the dancers ran and do backflips and danced as they ran. Some just slide down the stairs. One cop was trying to catch them but then the other came and stole his cap. He tricked him and threw his cap away as he climb the wall connected to the stairs and escaping the cop. They all ran as the cops were chasing them. The cops knew it was them because they had masks on. They ran up and then looked down. Many people were walking, and they couldn’t see them. They must have taken their masks off and blend in with the people that were walking around.

Down at the escalator, came the man in the business suit. While he was going up, his right hand held the side of the stairs, his hand was covered with paint.
Down at the side of the escalator was painted in big words, ‘101’. The cops had failed to notice that he was one of them, everyone knew them. They were called the 101.

Down at the streets ran three boys laughing, “Oh we killed it again, man,” said one of them.

“Oh did you see their faces?” asked the other while laughing.

The boy with the white hair went and stand on the garage can and said, “Thank you, I’m a genius!”

“Get down from there!” said Brian as he pulled him down. “Knock it off, Jack.” He removed the mask off of Jack’s face. Jack just laughed it off. They walked up until they reached the roof.

“Man! We struck goal with this, look at this,” said Drake as he passed the camera to Jack. They went to the edge of the roof and Drake sat down on a chair while leaning back. Jack and Brian leaned against the white brick wall. “People are going crazy over this one. Let’s upload it on YouTube, Brian.”

“Brian,” said Jack as he and Drake looked at Brain who was frowning.

“C’mon guys, why it gotta be me?”  whined Brian.

“Because you’re the youngest,” teased Jack, handing him the camera.

“And obviously the slowest,” said Drake matter-of-factly. Brian started speaking in Spanish which annoyed Jack and Drake because they both didn't even know what he was saying. “Dude, stop speaking Spanish,” said Drake which made Brian rolled his eyes.

“Gotcha!” said Pitch jumping down to them. Jack and the others looked startled. “Man, I wish you could see the look on your faces.” He snickered while removing his glasses; yep, he was that guy in the business suit.

“End the joke Pitch,” said Drake instantly, getting up.

“So what do you guys think?” asked Jack excitedly with his hands folded.

“On the real,” said Tracy as she side-glanced at Jonny. “We killed it!"

“Ohhh!” exclaimed Jack in delight. They laughed and grouped hugged.

“The streets should be ready for us this year,” said Jonny. “Let’s see it.” Brian handed him the camera so he could see it.

“We should definitely add this to YouTube,” said Jack smirking. “It’s going to be good.”

“But not as good as The Mob's,” said Pitch bitterly as he was sitting down. Everyone was in complete silence.

“They did it again?” asked Tracy. Pitch nodded and Jack frowned.

“They scored big time in the middle of Toronto’s City Hall,” said Pitch as he showed them the video of The Mob dancing in the City Hall. They all gasped at how good they were.

“Wow they’re good,” said Brian, frankly.

"I wonder who taught them those moves," said Jonny outloud.

"I'm guessing the leader," said Drake, not looking quite sure.

"The leader?" questioned Jack with a raised eyebrow.

"Yep! Many people on YouTube said the leader is a girl," said Brian grinning. Jack wonder why he was grinning like that; because of The Mob? Huh big deal! he didn't even care they're popular or not.

“During the time they were dancing, that was when the announcement of the new project that Edger Arendelle was doing the past months,” said Pitch, clearly.

“What?!" Exclaimed Drake. "It looks like they wanna ruin him, I mean bring him down.”

“Yeah, that must be their reason of dancing in such a big place; something we don’t have the guts to do,” said Jack bitterly.

“We could, but we have to be careful,” said Jonny, slowly. “The cops might catch us if we go further out.”

“Then why haven’t the police or anyone caught them yet?” asked Tracy.

“Well the police always had a hard time catching them, they always seem to escape them,” said Pitch. “Everyone loves them, well maybe except for some people.”

“You know what? Forget about all this talk, let’s just go,” said Drake getting up and they all left.

“So I’ll see you later?” Jack said to Tracy. Tracy giggled and nodded. Jack gave her a quick kiss and went away, he had to be home early before his mom scold him again.
