Y/N's Point of View

I had come to camp much before Percy.

It was after Annabeth and Luke had made their way here though. Annabeth and I had both gotten to Camp Half-Blood pretty young, and we initially became friends because of that one similarity, but quickly found other similarities that bound our friendship.

Making friends was so much easier when we were younger, when wearing the same light up, velcro sneakers instantly made you besties and you had a boundless amount of childlike confidence and wonder.

There were quite a few years of stillness. I went home during the school year and came to camp during the summer. I'd invited Annabeth and Luke and Grover over for a few weeks over the summer or however long they needed to stay for a change of scenery. There was low monster activity surrounding me, so it wasn't much a problem going home. It was never anything I couldn't handle.

I didn't mind the serenity of camp, but I could tell the year rounders were getting stir crazy and bored. Not that we wanted anything bad to happen, but maybe just something a bit exciting.

Our wishes were asked and answered.

That was where I met Percy Jackson. He brought chaos. He had quite literally fought his way here, making his arrival surely the most exciting thing since the summer began. I knew Chiron was talking to Annabeth about him, and though I wasn't as close to him as Annie, she still passed the information to me. Something about him was special, and there was no way I wasn't going to pass up the chance to stand with him in the eye of the hurricane that was creating around him.

It was impossible to foretell at the time, but he quickly became one of the most important people in my life.

Five years and two giant prophecies later, Percy and I were finally getting a sense of the mundane side of life apart from the gods and the assortments of mythologies. We had just survived through high school, which was a feat in itself, and we were even planning on going to go to the same college.

Everything was close to perfect.

"Y/N, dear, would you go help Percy with Estelle?" Percy's mother asked, busy preparing dinner.

I put down my book, "Course."

I walked to Estelle's nursery, the heavenly smell of dinner getting fainter. My stomach begging for the food, it growled softly.

Lightly, I knocked on the door before letting myself in. Immediately, I nearly fell over laughing. With one hand, Percy was jiggling a rattle in one hand and a dirty diaper in the other, while trying to grab a wet wipe. Estelle was just giggling and flailing her arms and legs having a grand time frustrating her brother.

Percy turned to me and pouted. "Stop laughing and help me!"

"Oh gods no, this is too good!" I teased, before finally deciding I ought to actually help out when he knocked down a package of diapers and they scattered across the floor.

I took the diaper from Percy and tossed it into the trash. "May I?" I held out my hand and he gave me the rattle.

"Hey, Elle," I cooed as I shook the rattle rhythmically. "How you doing?"

The baby girl only giggled and tried to grab for the toy with tiny chubby hands. Distracted with the shiny object, she started to squirm less. Percy sighed in relief as he finally had the chance to change Estelle's diaper.

"Thanks," he leaned towards me in an attempt to peck my cheek.

"Gross," I laughed, dodging his efforts. "Go wash your hands."

He rolled his eyes and went into the bathroom. I turned back around and picked up Estelle and bounced her lightly in my arms.

"What are you looking at?" I blushed.

He stood in the doorway, leaning against the frame with a stupid smile on his face. "Nothing. You're just really good with kids."

"Nope, I think it's just her."

"Percy, Y/N! Dinner's almost ready!" Sally called from the other room. "Paul's going to be home in a few."

"Hear that? Are you hungry, Elle?" I asked, using my baby voice again.

I carried her into the kitchen, where Sally was frantically watching over three pans on the stove and pouring water into glasses. I set Elle into the baby pin in the living room.

I washed my hands and started to offer to help. "Here, let me," I quipped before taking the glasses from her and got out silverware and napkins. I began to lay out the things when Percy walked into the dining room.

"Are you setting the table?" He asked. "You're a guest."

I shrugged, "I'm practically family, Perce."

He couldn't disagree with that, so he just took the forks from me and started to set them down, knowing I wouldn't let up. "What do you want to do after this?"

"We should go watch a movie. There has to be something good that just came out." I suggested.

"I meant after college."

I set the pitcher of water down as I sensed the conversation going in a different direction. "What do you want to do? You seem to have something particular in mind."

His cheeks turned pink before he smiled bashfully, "I think maybe I want to find a nice apartment in New Rome with you..." he got shy and trailed off.

I came around the other side of the table and took his hands, "I was thinking the exactly the same thing, as long as you don't get yourself killed with all this demigod stuff."

Percy rolled his eyes though his next words held all the meaning in the world, "You too."

"We should get a pet together."

"Now?"

"No, no... later, when we have that apartment," I laughed.

"Okay, we'll get a pet," Percy amended, smiling boyishly.

He leaned down and met my lips with his.

"Interrupting something?" Sally mused.

We stepped apart, and I quickly picked up the pitcher of water and Percy loudly set a fork down. Mrs. Jackson laid a pan of food on the table, giving us the mom smile.

"Hi, mom," he said nonchalantly.

She quirked an eyebrow, "Hey, Percy."

"I'm home!" Paul sung as he walked in, and Percy's mom left to go greet him.

"Conversation for later?" I suggested.

"Conversation for later," he repeated in agreement.

All of us sat down at the table, Estelle sitting at the head of the table in a high chair, mashing her food between her fingers while Percy's mother aided her in getting at least a fraction of it in her mouth.

"How is everyone?" Sally asked. "Have you all been keeping in touch?"

"Yeah, Hazel and Frank are in New Rome."

"Annabeth's been volunteering and helping out there too," I answered as well. "I think she also did an internship a few weeks ago."

"I think Jason and Piper are also in New Rome. Reyna is spending her free time helping out with new demigods, switching between camps with Nico."

"Leo is working on new designs for weapons and working to make monster proof electronics. Calypso has been working with the Demeter cabin and their greenhouse."

"Grover has been helping new campers settle in, and he's just been hanging out with Juniper," Percy answered.

"Yep, we've all been Iris messaging a few since we last saw each other. It's weird being away from them for so long. They're like my second home," I added.

"It's the first few weeks of summer. Do you two plan on going back to Camp Half-Blood soon?" Paul inquired as he ate a piece of chicken.

Percy and I exchanged a look, and I decided to answer. "We were thinking we'd take part of the summer off from all the commotion of the demigod life. Maybe we'd take a road trip together, something somewhat normal. We'd still probably be there for a majority of the summer though."

Sally twirled some pasta around her fork. "That sounds perfect. Keep us updated."

The conversation eventually ended and everyone continued to enjoy the chicken and pasta Mrs. Jackson had made. Sally and Paul started to talk about their day, and Percy and I started to talk about our future road trip we'd been talking about for a while now.

"We should throw a dart onto a map of the U.S. and go wherever it takes us," I said excitedly, remembering I'd seen something like that on the internet.

"And if it lands in the ocean?" Percy mused.

"You're the son of Poseidon," I shrugged as if it answered everything.

He laughed, "you want me to build an underwater castle in a bubble for our summer vacation then?"

"Can you actually?" I asked, seriously.

"No," he deadpanned.

I lightly hit him on the shoulder, pouting. "That was rude. You don't joke about underwater castles."
