The bedroom the six idols shared was quiet except for soft snores and occasional creeks of the wooden beds when one of them moved.

The youngest group member was still wide awake as stared at the ceiling twiddling his thumbs. It was one of those nights where sleeping was difficult and it didn't help that the maknae had something heavy weighing on his mind.

Sitting up he leans over the safety rail stealing a glance at the other set of bunk beds. He sees Daewon wide awake as the older had his feet in the air, a book propped up in front of him as he read under the gentle light of the clip-on reading light.

Kai debates getting out of his bed for a minute or two before deciding on climbing down.

Hearing the movement Daewon looks over his shoulder watching as the younger boy had his head bowed down as he nervously approached him.

"H-hyung, can we talk?" Kai questions as he fidgets with his fingers. Daewon shuts his book, setting it aside before he sits up patting the space next to him. Kai sits on the bed, his attention on his lap as he pulls at his fingers.

"What's up?" Daewon questions, keeping his voice quiet and gentle so he won't wake the others.

"I miss home," the youngest admits sadly. Daewon sighs leaning against the frame of his bed.

"Me too. Your family lives far away right?" he questions and Kai nods sadly.

"I dunno why I suddenly miss them so much. I swear it wasn't this bad a few weeks ago but I...I—" Kai gets choked upon his words as a rush of tears hit him at once and begins spilling down his cheeks.

Without saying anything Daewon leans over pulling the youngest member against him. He sways Kai from side to side and rubs his back to help calm him down. Kai let himself cry for a bit before quickly trying to recollect himself. He shouldn't be doing this.

"I'm so sorry," he blurts. Daewon gives him a confused look before brushing Kai's tears away with his thumbs.

"Why are you sorry?" he chuckles.

"Dunno. For interrupting your reading I guess...and getting your shirt wet," the youngest says as he points out the obvious damp spots on Daewon's shirt from his crying. Daewon coos at Kai before cupping his face and leaning in to kiss the maknae's forehead.

"Baby you don't have to be sorry for anything. Being homesick comes with being an idol I guess. Even your hyungs have days where we miss our family," Daewon explains softly.

"But you don't have to apologize for feeling sad or coming to talk to one of us. We're all here for you to help guide you when you feel lost so don't ever feel bad for seeking our help...ok?" Daewon says and Kai nods but the older isn't completely convinced Kai really believes him.

"You may not be with your first family but your second family will always be here. Your hyungs are here for you. Lean on us. You'll be our baby ning-ning ok?"

"O-ok" Kai sighs. He felt a little better but the worries were still there trapped in his mind.

"Hyung?"

"Yeah?"

"Can you just...hold me like this for a while?" he mutters, turning around to sit in Daewon's lap and rest his head against the oldest shoulder.

"Of course!" Daewon whispers. He kept one hand tangled in Kai's hair while the other moved to his tummy. Kai let out a little giggle and leaned further into his hyung.

"You haven't given me a belly rub in ages," he mutters. Daewon scoffs and nudges his nose against the younger boy's cheek.

"Well, you haven't given me one either" Daewon mumbles as he tucks his head into Kai's shoulder.

"I'll give you belly rubs again..since you seem to miss them so much"

"Why thank you baby ning-ning" Daewon coos as he places kisses on Kai's cheek. Kai lets out little giggles at the ticklish feeling, his chest warming up and feeling less hollow. For now, he could set his worries to rest and just be held and loved. He could worry about the other things later.

"Feeling better now?" Daewon whispers, hands still rubbing soothing circles on Kai's stomach. The younger lets out a little yawn nuzzling against Daewon trying to find a comfortable position to sleep.

"A little...I kinda wanna sleep now" he whispers back.

"Can you two be quiet now?" Taehyun questions from the top bunk shocking the two who had no idea he was awake.

"Sorry did we wake you?"

"Sorta but it's fine. Just shut up so I can sleep. Don't wanna hear you," Taehyun groans. Kai smirks feeling a little mischievous as he peaks his head from around the bunk.

"Aw! Are you feeling jealous Tae? You can come to cuddle with us if you want" Kai says with a snicker.

"No thanks," the second maknae grumbles. Kai smirks to himself a bit as he wraps his arms around Daewon's neck.

"That's fine. I'll keep all of hyungs love for myself. I mean I am his favorite after all" he says, snuggling against Daewon. In under ten seconds, the bed begins to shake a bit with Taehyun's movements up above. Shortly the second youngest is climbing down the ladder and tossing himself on top of the two other occupants on the bed below.

"Oh look at this," Kai teases.

"Stop teasing him," Daewon chuckles as he moves to make more space for the three of them. It was a challenge since the twin sized mattress could only truly fit one teenage boy but he made it work.

"Any deep feelings you need to get off your chest Tae?"

"Not at the moment no"

"Well let me know. Us maknaes have to stick together" Daewon says with a small not.

"What do you mean "us maknaes" you grandpa?" Kai chuckles.

"Daewon, stop trying to hang with us cool kids. Makes you seem older," Taehyun mutters shaking his head. Pouting and feeling betrayed Daewon begins to push the two out of his bed.

"Oh yeah? If I'm not a cool kid then you can get out of my bed. Only losers here," he says wrestling against the two to get them off his bed but Taehyun and Kai were stronger as they held Daewon down.

"Aye, we were just kidding. You can be an honorary maknae. Right Tae?" Kai questions.

"Sure whatever"

"Honorary maknae... I'll take it" Daewon mutters with a dorky smile.

"Gosh, I can't believe I asked you of all people for advice."

"In your defense, he was the only one awake"

"True true"

"Thanks, guys. I feel so loved" Daewon mutters with an eye roll.

"You are loved. I love you and Tae and Soobin and Yeonjun and Beomgyu and Soobin," Kai says rambling but was interrupted by Taehyun

"You said Soobin twice" the older points out and Kai giggles.

"I know. I just really love Soobin."

"Whatever you dork. Go to sleep"
