Battle For The Surf Badge-4

     The two friends walked onto the colorful road and into Liva city. There was a strong breeze that brought salty air into their noses as they walked along. They had their pokemon out and the little guys were resting on their shoulders.

     The road looked average, just colorful, until you looked down and noticed the little seashells and other marine material that were apart of it. The shops and buildings were also pretty and vibrant. There were many seafood places, a market dedicated to just spices, a traders market by the sea, it was all cozy.

     They made their way to the pokemon center which was covered in vibrate art pieces. Auburn took their pokemon to heal while Robyn called her mom.

     "Yes mom, I'm perfectly fine, we've made it to Liva" the conversation went on like this for a while as Robyn told her about their most recent catches until, Auburn walked back over. "OK, I'll call you later mom, love you" and she hung up taking back her pokeballs and pokemon.

     "You ready?" Auburn asked with a burning excitement in his eyes. "Yep, come on" She brought up a map on her phone and the two made their way to the surf school by the beach.

      The school and gym were ran by the one and only Tim Slater, the best surfer in all of Carzia. Even though he was in his fifties he was still doing his best and had even started the surfing school after the media said he'd "reached his peak". Now he was a gym leader, world renouned surfer and a teacher. It wasn't like a normal school however, it was more wide open and there wasn't much of a building, for learning or battling.

      The friends walk up to the gym's front desk as a women looked up to them. "Hello there! Welcome to Liva city's gym, are you both attempting to battle?" They both nod and she does something on her computer. "How many badges?" She looks at Auburn. "None, first gym" Robyn says as the women types on her computer. "Well your options are to battle gym trainers, learn to surf or both, which will it be?" They look at each other and nod. "Both" they say in unison. The women points to a path "right this way then."

     They had gone to a class with other students and could now surf, or atleast move across water without sinking and drowning. It had taken a majority of the day but they had both finally been able to do it. They were directed by the same woman from earlier over to the battle field to battle two trainers each, Robyn went first. The gym trainer sent out a Wooper and she sent out Kittypillar.

    Now yes, as a water and ground type the Wooper would instantly be taken out be Peteinee's grass attacks but this wasn't a dumb idea either. As a ground type Wooper is weak to bug type moves, of which Kittypillar has, so it would be able to get some experience. The small pokemon looks at her trainer scared and Robyn kneels in front of it to speak.

     "It'll be okay, you got this, I'd never put you in harms way if I didn't think you could handle it" She lightly tapped the feline like bug types head with her pointer finger and it purred in response. Robyn stood back up and looked at the Wooper, ready to win.

     The trainer commanded the Wooper to attack and it ran forward aimlessly to use Bubble Beam. Kittypillar lept to the side and jumped back using Bug Bite. Kittypillar jumped off and avoided another Bubble Beam before using Bug Bite again. Sure it was a lazy strategy but it sure worked. The little pokemon landed another fainting the Wooper. The blue pokemon returned to its pokeball as Kittypillar began to glow. The blinding light started to fade as Robyn looked at her pokemon mouth agape. The pokemon was now wrapped in a silky textured ribbon that had previously been wrapped up on the end of its tail. She brought up her pokedex app and it started.

     "Kiccoon, the Cacoon pokemon. A bug and fairy type. This pokemon crawls everywhere and loves hiding in small spaces like under furniture. It will share its food with those it loves." Robyn ran over to the newly evolved pokemon and scooped it into her arms as Peteinee flew into it's place, knowing it was his turn to battle. The trainer sent out an Azurill and Peteinee easily took it out.

     Both friends had now beaten the gym trainers and Auburn had even already beaten Tim Slater, leaving Robyn ready to battle him, knowing he had a Buizel and Dolphlop. Peteinee was out on the rocky battle field ready to battle. Robyn already knew how the experienced gym leader would use the arena to his advantage. His pokemon would dive into the little pools and swim out of one somewhere else to avoid opposing moves or attack, thankfully being in the air was an advantage against that.

     "GO BUIZEL!!" The elderly gym leader yelled, throwing the pokeball on to the field releasing the pokemon. The battle started, or, it wasn't much of a battle. The green pokemon would fly over the little pools and the orange weasel would jump out to attack, but miss, and then the pterosaur would miss its attack. Eventually Peteinee got tired and just sat on the rocks, awaiting the attack. Buizel shot out of a pool, spinning with a water gun. Peteinee shot up, just barely missing the attack and used a leafage. It landed and the Buizel fell out of the air and landed on the rocks, allowing the pterosaur to land two more attacks, knocking Buizel out.

     “Ha Ha, that was a good one, now try this!” Tim Slater retracted Buizel and sent out Dolphlop. The pokemon was way up high and went spiraling down quickly. Peteinee tried dodging but was rammed and thrown into the water under the dolphin pokemon with its Bounce and started using its Aqua jet. Peteinee barely made it out of the attacks and flew high above the pools. Dolphlop leaped out as Peteinee started up a leafage. Both attacks landed as Dolphlop dove back into the water and Peteinee crashed onto the rocky battlefield.

     Robyn looked in terror as she ran up to Peteinee. She picked up the pokemon “Shh, shh, it'll be ok, you did your best.” She put him back in his pokeball and sent out  Kiccoon. “You got this bud!” She gave a thumbs up and ran over to where she had been standing. Kiccoon smiled at its trainer's words of affirmation and got battle ready. The fluffy pokemon sat as it could hear the dolphin pokemon clicking from the water. The dolphin came launching out of a pool with its Bounce but was met with a bug bite. Dolphin landed on land and couldn't get back in the water to direct its attack so it shot itself up into the air with Bounce again, but this was Kiccoons plan. The Dolphlop came diving down as it was interrupted by a Fairy Wind. The Kiccoon was struggling to keep up with the pokemon with the newly learned move so it quickly used Pin Missile, sending little dust and specks at the pokemon, just being enough to make it faint. The fainted pokemon landed in the water and was retracted back into its ball. Robyn ran over screaming happily and scooped up her little pokemon. Peteinee was flapping around now healed up. “You did so good Kiccoon! I knew you could do it!” Robyn bounced up and down as Tim Slater walked over chucklung. He handed her the Surf Badge. “Nice job kid! Can't wait to see you in the future, I hope you go far” She smiled and thanked him, running to meet up with Auburn.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
     The two friends made their way back to the Pokemon Center to stay the night.  Their Pokemon were already curled up sleeping. “You did great Auburn!” Robyn whisper yelled. “What are you talking about, you and Kiccoon crushed it!” The friends laughed for a while before Auburn spoke up again, face illuminated by the lantern.
     “So now that we can surf next is back south towards Willand and Sandingo.” Robyn looked up, confused. “What? I thought we were headed to Marshtin through Jonfran City?” The two friends looked at eachother confused for a long time, uninterrupted silence. Auburn broke the silence first.
     “I have to go meet my dad in Sandingo so we can go to some stupid thing in Lunar city.” Robyn looked at him saddened. “Do you have to go? I thought we were going straight to Marshtin.” He shook his head. “No, he said it's mandatory or something.” They both sighed.
     “Well let's spend the last of our time together having fun, Ok?” Robyn asked. Auburn nodded and they played cards till midnight. Robyn fell asleep first and Auburn watched her and sighed before taking a walk outside with his pokemon.
     The next morning the two friends stood just outside of the Pokemon Center. “Welp, see you around Auburn.” They fist bumped but Auburn's hand lingered at the touch. “See you soon”. He said before they both walked backwards in opposite directions till they couldn't see each other anymore. Auburn turned around and sighed sadly as Aguana trued cheering him up from his shoulder. Robyn on the other hand started running joyfully. Sure she was sad she couldbt spend time with her best friend but she was still going to have fun.
